In the video, you can see me cleaning, and simulating our future living space. We are downsizing from a country house to a city apartment. Simulating our future living space in the apartment involved taking precise measurements of the room, and all the furniture. You can maybe see the post-it notes on the wall? Those show the placement of doors, windows, etc. These measurements serve as a planning tool, allowing me to visualize and arrange furniture, décor, and other elements in a way that maximizes space and functionality. It's a step in creating a well-designed and comfortable living environment that meets our needs and preferences.

I love your calming colors
I am disabled and my health is worsening. Becoming more minimal has been one of the greatest things I’ve done for my well being. It’s a continual process of decluttering still, but I’m making great progress!

thats so true! I wish you the best for your health I am disabled plus have chronic pain as well. i used to get really overwhelmed to manage all my stuff plus keeping the home clean eg after a surgery or during a particularly bad time. Now I need minimal time to keep my stuff in order and to keep the apartment clean. If I need help, things are easily found for the helper.. it is a huge peace of mind!

Loved this video, it is something I've been thinking about lately as I've just taken up drawing at the age of 69. At present, my glass kitchen table serves as art studio 😋 journaling station, desk, and sometimes it is used even for meals.😉 The sketchbook, journal and agenda are always open. Regarding Hemingway, my father was from Key West and met him when he was ten. The funny thing about the Hem incident you related is that their house and car were paid for by Pauline's rich uncle, so it wasn't his money. He had a beautiful studio separate from the house.

I have been decluttering for the past two years. I have a paint studio in my home. I am able to keep things streamlined and neat even though my home functions as my studio. Thank you for the thoughts today.

People downsize for many reasons especially towards the end of life. Americans have very few things they can count on. We don’t have social safety nets that work for us such as pensions, childcare, or medical and living is very costly. I get a certain amount of comfort from the “things” we’ve accumulated over the years surrounding us as well as a “prepping” for anything as we seem to be preparing always for some disaster. Insecurity is our way of life in our country sadly as I wish it weren’t so but it is so different from Nordic countries because of our drastically different system of governances. Here corporations come before people. But it’s enlightening to see the huge contrast in lifestyles.
