    Note:
    The output numbers are not as accurate in this video, and especially the cd/l numbers should just be looked at as comparative values and not considered precise. The integrating sphere that I built for output measurements kind of fell apart, and I am going to change my system besides, so don't put too much significance on the exact numbers here.

      Considering i have the updated TS25, i guess it is. Low Aux mode is available and works great. Ramping can be a bit janky sometimes, but it's fun. Also, if you were allowed to keep it, please dedome your Wurkkos TS25, i just did and in my mind it changed the light for the better

    The D4K looks absolutely stunning, would you mind telling me the exact configuration you have for it? I recently got a bit into this hobby and wanted to get a D4K.
    Also how's the runtime on it? Low, mid, high with the battery you're using?
    Great video, you definitely deserve more recognition!

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  Год назад +9

      It's 519a 5000K from Jackson Lee with 12A linear+FET driver, MAO finish, raised switch ring, cyan switch color.
      Runtimes are relatively poor, as this driver is not very efficient, and the floody nature of the beam requires higher output for most usage. Still, the 21700 has enough capacity for a couple nights of extended usage.

  • @nicodimus2222
    @nicodimus2222 Год назад +2

    The TS21 gets too hot to hold very quickly. If you configure the temp settings for it not to, it steps way down in brightness very quickly, limiting its usefulness. I don't see how not being able to use turbo or the two brightness levels under it for more than a few seconds is acceptable to anyone.

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  Год назад

      Yes, I somewhat agree. If you watch my review of the TS21, you'll see I tested the output sustainability with different target temps, and found it to be okay - it's definitely not great in that regard, but the more intense beam means it's still pretty useful at lower levels than the floodier quads are (none of these lights impress in terms of sustained output)

  • @arcadefreak37

    I know this light is pricey but I would love to see the Nitecore E4K thrown into the comparison.

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  Год назад +1

      The E4K is definitely an interesting light. Because there are a lot of 21700 quads, I wanted to just focus on lights that run Anduril and have the same LEDs (in this case, 519a)

  • @reveme
    @reveme Год назад

    I have a Sofirn IF25a, which fits perfectly in you comparison… and in my opinion a linear+FET is a waste of energy, which makes these lights just fancy toys instead of good tools. It heats up a lot, it takes the high lumens only for “seconds“ and the 21700 battery lasts less than my other more efficient 18650 light.
    For my usage, a D4V2 with a boost driver (or a zebra light) is much better than this D4K.
    Opinions, probably :)

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  Год назад +2

      I did want to add the IF25A into this video, but it would make things a lot more complicated and I wanted to stick with these because they are all nearly identical to each other, which was the main reason for this comparison.
      The boost driver is an excellent option, and I will be doing a comparison between the boost and linear drivers at some point. You can always get the boost driver in the D4K to have more runtime than the D4V2.

      I have the boost driver on my D4V2. I get just over 2 hours on level 6. On the ts21 I get about 4 hours on level 6 but I find the emisar to be a much brighter light. I think the D4V2 is always brighter than my other lights. The only problem with it is that I tend to baby it and not take it to work. I am going to buy the D4K and the DW4 as my next lights.

      @@reveme I compared it to my baton 3 that is 0.5 lumen and it is at least twice as bright in lowest mode. I would guess between 1-5 lumens. Mine seems stable but I don’t have measuring equipment. I don’t get the runtimes like my olights but it is much brighter with a nicer beam. I can’t really compare it to a regular emisar because I don’t have one with the regular driver. I would say that it runs slightly cooler than my other Anduril lights.

      Just to be clear. Wurkkos / Sofirn as a company (with two brands) has long way ahead and a lot to learn. Some of their products are really good for a price, some are ok, but they have aslo mistakes like fc 13. That being said, I'm not a fan of overpriced lights either, and other companies have issues to. Armytek and Nitecore make great lights but their customer service is almost nonexistent, Olight 😳 🤣🤣🤣, Ledlenser has a great warranty and good customer service, at least here in Europe, but the quality of the products compared to the prices 😒 is almost ridiculous. What's even more frustrating is the fact that their engineers have good ideas, but almost every single time the execution is rather poor and when it's not cost at least 200€/$.

    I've debated for a while about getting the D4V2 as my first Anduril light, but have always decided against it due to the low sustained output and CD, I have a problem with a light like this where it has a lower sustained output than a Convoy S2+ 519A, really disappointing.

      @LuxWad  Год назад +1

      Yeah that is definitely a deal breaker for me as well, though in some contexts the floody beam is preferable.
      You can however get a D4V2/D4K with a throwier spot optic, W2 or XP-L HI LEDs, and a boost driver, for more pracrticality in a lot of scenarios. It's still not the most practical light though, for a first Anduril light I think the TS21 is a much better option.

    I had TS25, loved the beam so much. Sadly the USB port was not as expected. It was off-centered and its opening on the head was too small for many cables I have. The head was also glued with body tube which negate the benefit of having access to flashing pads. I'm still looking for reviews of newer batches in hope that they will fix these issues, but unfortunately not so many reviews so far. And I wish they'll offer the 5700K option.

      Thanks for the insights. I hadn't heard of any of those issues before, I hope that isn't the case for too many lights they shipped out
