    The main optimization points of the new TS21 are:
    1. Use anduril 2.0
    2. The charging and charging current are upgraded to 3A fast charge and fast release.
    3. Reverse charging with power bank function.
    After Your reviews, there is no need (and desire) to look at others.
    Everything is essentially, beautifully filmed and technically flawless.
    You definitely have talent!

    Wurkkos is absolutely killing it in the flashlight game right now. The TS21 completely blows the FW3a out of the water. I got one for my gf who cant understand the UI very well... So the "muggle mode" definitely came in handy for her

    Been using the light for a couple weeks now (got the 219c 5000k version) and I don't stand up without it in my pocket, it's just so dang useful to always have a proper light around. Even just taking pictures for ebay or with the recent floods in my country, checking for water ingress in the house like the roof (actually found a spot that I completely missed with my phone flashlight). The clip is strong enough to hold to the pocket without worrying about it ever falling out, the turbo is amazing (although quite hot) and the power bank feature is a very nice thing to have. Since it's my EDC i don't notice the larger standby drain at all and it's pretty fun blowing people's minds how such a little light easily outperforms their 4x bigger "10,000 lumen" stick haha

    What a great review! Awesome. Well scripted, thought through and presented.
    I own the Sofirn IF25A 4000k and am very happy with it. Yet I have to say, I'd have bought the Wurkkos if I had known about it before (just returned to the hobby). Reasons are the slightly smaller form factor, two-way clip (that you can mount on the tail or front) and tailcap magnet. I right away ordered two two give away to friends as small presents.

    be aware that the Anduril 2.0 version with power bank feature curretnly has a higher parasitic drain of about 0,8mA more compared to what is mentioned in the video. It's not a huge issue, but it is unfortunate. Therefore I recommend to slightly unscrew the tail cap when not in use. Allegedly they fixed it in the very newest revisions but it may take a while until all of the affected stock is sold.
    Overall still a very good light.

    Really excellent review. I think the TS21 is really in a league of its own, I cant find a single flashlight that offers the same lumen output with integrated USB C charging, magnet tail, clip, power bank feature, compact size, at anywhere near the same price. Actually I cant find all of these features at any price range. This is literally the only flashlight on the market combining those important features. The closest one to the TS21 would be the Sofirn IF25A, but even this one lacks power bank feature, clip, and magnet tail.

    After a ridiculous amount of hours spent researching what I thought was such a simple thing, a dang flashlight, and with my indecisive nature I had to get the "perfect" starter light, I decided to get this with the 219c 5000k, instead of the widely recommended FC11, just because of the power bank feature and higher output. Hope the couple quirks don't make me regret the decision, but I guess I can always get another ;) ( Already thinking about the dual channel D4SV2 (i haven't even recieved this one yet hah), something about having both throw and flood in a single light is amazing to me)

    Retired both my TS21’s because of the pwm whine. I thought I would be able to ignore it but the more I used it, the more I noticed. People around me noticed too. Also the 219C version has stupid parasitic drain (also see TS10). I like wurkkos and give away FC12’s as presents but until they put better drivers in their lights I will stick with Hank. ZL, etc.

  • @jseden
    @jseden 2 года назад +2

    Ive had two fw3 lights.. my main one came with anduril 1 and the second (bought mostly for the leds/star) had 2 installed. Can’t say I had any real preference between the two, although I preferred the faster blinks when checking the voltage in 2. Beyond that, whatever. Recently sold the aluminum one with 2 after trading the 4k sst20 that it came with for the neutral xpl that came in my first. They’re a little green but I don’t really notice unless I’m comparing it to a cleaner white or scrutinizing it on a white wall.
    Also, I generally prefer triples over quad setups.. not for much reason beyond aesthetics. Just think they look better. Triples always been bright enough for my needs anyway.

  • @victorvannatter312
    @victorvannatter312 11 месяцев назад +1

    As an update, not sure if mine is that different from yours, as I have the newer driver with flashing pads and power bank functionality. But with max temp set to 65c, I get just a tad over 1000 lumens sustained on high with a small fan blowing on the light. It does get warm but no burning hot. At least I ran it for 45 mins and it went from 1200L to 1050L over 15 mins then stayed at 1050L until I turned it off as I had to go somewhere. So changing the thermal limit is important with this light if you want good sustained output

    From reading Budget Light Forum, it sounds like the Anduril 2 version comes with the Simple UI at least available, if not enabled by default (not sure). That should mostly address the complexity for anyone who wants a solid light but not all of Anduril's features.
    Thanks to this review, I should find out soon as I plan to get a TS21 for a non-flashlight-enthusiast family member, calibrating it and putting it in Simple mode before handing it over. Fingers crossed.

  • @musicantd
    @musicantd 3 года назад +1

    Thanks for the great video. I found it with the late link in your Xtar VC4 review, which straight on answered a question that confounded me before I ordered the VC4, namely are there significantly different versions? You made it clear that there are not! Wish I'd seen that earlier, would have saved me some trouble. Your review of this Wurkkos flashlight spoke to my thinking that I'd like to get ahold of a flashlight that brings me to new territory. I've bought dozens of LED flashlights over the last dozen or more years but they're all rudimentary and cheap. I always have an EDC in my pocket, invariably a single cell AAA. Whether or not I would use the TS21 as an EDC I don't know. I ordered it yesterday because your video convinced me that it certainly is a reasonable step into high capacity bright advanced li-ion flashlights.
    I have an issue I hope to get some help on. You did mention that Wurkkos is offering the TS21 with either Anduril 1.0 or 2.0. I figure 2.0 is the smarter option for me, it's kind of a guess, but having to make a choice, one would suppose that the later release is on balance superior all in all. Could be wrong there as pertains to me, I don't know. Now, I ordered the TS21 yesterday and then realized that it was the version 1.0 Anduril. I rewatched your video and saw a link to the TS21 at Wurkkos, followed it and saw that was for the version 2.0. I ordered that and tried to cancel my first order. I didn't see a way to do that but saw what I took to be a means of messaging concerning my orders and I left message(s) to the effect that I wanted version 2.0 and wanted to cancel my order for version 1.0. I don't know where Wurkkos are, the date displayed in my order was for the next day, i.e. Nov. 21, but I ordered on Nov. 20. I figure this suggests they are somewhere on the planet where it WAS Nov. 21, maybe China? I hope their English is good enough where they can understand my messages. What do you make of my predicament? TIA for suggestions. BTW, subscribed!

      I'm glad the videos were able to help out!
      It's been a couple days since you commetned so hopefully this is still helpful. Anduril 1 and 2 are actually pretty similar, with A2 having more improvements that add more customizability. I think 2 is better for new users, as the old "Muggle Mode" is replaced with "Simple UI" which is basically a simplified version of the interface which is easier to use, and does not have turbo for safety. It's important to remember that Anduril 2 is designed to ship in Simple UI by default, so you will have to set it to Advanced UI with 10H from off to get all the features and the full turbo output.
      Apparently, the Anduril 2 verison of the TS21 has some strange behaviour with the aux light in the switch, where it shows two different colors and doesn't quite respond to the UI like it should. I don't have it though to confirm this issue.
      Whether you get V1 or V2 won't make a big difference for functionality, they're still the same light. If you can get the V2 I think it's better. Either way, make sure to read through the manual as it can be a bit complex, especially in the updated version.
      Wurkkos is in China, if you have issues contacting them you can also try reaching out to their reps on Facebook, where they are good at communicating. Hopefully if works out for you!

      @@LuxWad Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking if I wind up with both of my orders, ver. 1 and ver. 2, I'll probably keep one in the car as a safety thing. It's an idea. Not like it's expensive!
      I'm curious about the anomaly you report with version 2. The strange behavior with the aux light in the switch. Is that a persistent issue, is it a problem, is there a workaround?

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  3 года назад

      Haha yeah it's cheap enough that having multiples can't hurt. I don't know if there's a fix for the switch light, it seems to be hard-wired and not dependent on the firmware, but again I haven't used it. Wurkkos has acknowledged it online, so I hope it's been fixed by now.

    I almost have to wonder if the pill isn’t well sinked into the body on this light. Even going to 60c ceiling, it can only sustain about 300 lumens. My TS10 will sustain about 300 lumens when set to 45c. And it’s tiny. But has a good thermal path to the body

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  Год назад +2

      It's best to look up an Anduril tutorial. You need to know if you have Anduril 1 or 2.
      In general, three presses from off will get you into the battery check and utility blinky modes. Double-press to cycle until you get to the temperature readout, then 7H to adjust the thermal limit. Each press from there will add one degree Celsius above 30C, with a limit of 70C. When you've got it set where you want, just wait a second and it will adjust.

      The light uses PWM (fast one-off cycles) to regulate the output, which causes a whine. It's loudest on the high level, where Turbo settles after step-down.
      If you can't hear it on the video, it probably won't bother you, since it's very high-pitched and won't be audible to everyone.

    I really like how the warm tint looks when you point at the house, the flowers, the trees & bushes... It's just the perfect warm, not too much that you can't see a s**t, not too less to be just neutral tint.
    But man, your video confuse me. It looks like sunset light as you said in the video. But then, when I watch the few other rewiews of the same flashlight at 4000K, there's almost no difference with 5000K.
    Could you tell me why? Thanks!

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  2 года назад +1

      It's probably because other reviewers have their camera set to a different white balance. I always film my beam shots at 5600k - meaning my camera sees that CCT as pure white. Often other reviewers use different camera settings, and if they are using auto white balance then the camera will mostly eliminate the difference between two lights.
      It's also worth noting that the extra green produced by the SST20s makes it look warmer, while a 4000K light with a pink tint tends to look a bit cooler despite being the same temperature.

    You obviously have a lot more experience with these type of lights than I do. I just got my Ts21. Only my second multi emitter light after my TS10. But you consider this thing to be more throwy than a quad like a d4v2 or ts25? How floody are those? I would say my TS21 is just as floody as my TS10 even though the optic is so much bigger. It almost looks like there is a hole in the center of the beam. There isn’t, but because the hotspot is so wide, and I am used to seem more central light.

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  11 месяцев назад

      Definitely throwier than those quads, the D4 lights are quite floody and require very high output to hit any appreciable distance, which makes them pretty good for a lot of EDC tasks but not great for the outdoors. The TS10 has decent throw for its size due to the small emitter surface area (smaller surface = tighter beam).
      However, with most of these TIR lights, the spill area has very comparable flood, it's mostly the hotspot size that changes.

    • @victorvannatter312

      Ah ok thanks for the explanation. I can’t imagine anything floodier than this thing. I put a 60 degree optic in a convoy s2+ with sst-20 and it covered less width than this thing

    • @LuxWad

      The difference is the color temperature, or how warm/cool the light is. The 6000K is bluish white like an overcast sky, the 4000K is like warm sunlight, and 5000K is in between. The 4000K is dimmer, but has better color rendering, meaning colors will be brighter and richer, while the other two make things look duller and more flat. The 5000K is also pretty greenish. It should be about the same with these SST20s, they get very hot in either low or high CRI variants. • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  2 года назад +2

      I prefer warmer beams, so for me it's 4000K (great) > 5000K (okay) > 6500K (gross).
      For the SST20s, 4000K are high-CRI (~98), meaning they will reproduce colors far more accurately. The other two are quite low-CRI (~65), meaning they have poor unrealistic color rendering. The 5000K are also notorious for being very greenish and ugly, and personally I think 6500K is way too cool and unpleasant to use.
      However, the lower-CRI LEDs are more efficient and quite a bit brighter, so you may almost 1,000 lumens more output with those. I think the 4000K are bright enough so I would always go for those.

      Соглашусь с Вами - упрощённый режим способен снять опасность для неподготовленных пользователей, но только отчасти...
      Максимальный потолок все же может быть включен двойным кликом (даже из заблокированного положения - пятью кликами).
      Кроме как настройкой максимального потолка из продвинутого режима (7H из ON) других (более простых) способов не существует?

      @@vitaliy108 No, there aren't really any other ways to make it safer. Setting the maximum ceiling level is best you can do. You can also untwist the tailcap a small amount to physically lock out the light while not in use.

    I just got mine and I am very disappointed. Despite claiming 3500LM it is no brighter than my Olight Baton 3 at 1200LM. The operation is very confusing if you have never had a light like this. If anyone knows of a video that slowly explains the operation please post because the average person can't get much from the instructions.

      Abduril 2 comes in Simple UI by default, which prevents you from using the full output. When the light is off, press the button 10 times and hold on the last press, which will change it to Advanced Mode with access to all the features and capabilities

    Сцука хоть один обзорщик покажет как на этом фонарике работает зум. Плят уже несколько роликов просмотрел, ни один не показал, как будто зума в нем нет.
