Wow! I had never heard of such a thing. This vintage car must have been equipped with the best audible warning system available for blind drivers of its time. I really found it amazing.
Whole car was great to me for 12 years.towed a 16ft boat up in the mountains and had 200k until head gasket went.most comfortable seats I ever had.Eddie Bauer leather.
This is one of those things that you find cool at first but then you get over the gimmick real quick. That's probably why is got phased out. Well, that and probably sensor failures making people nervous about their cars.
This explains a lot about the example of this car my brother had. Apparently this weird door switch combo is enough to still make it say your headlights are on despite the switch for disabling the voice having been set to disable
there also is a way somehow to change the language of that voice, i did find out it can be done. also there is a way to reprogram the millage chip as well to read the proper millage the car had. same guy that worked at a car dealer told me this and he actually had a few chips and reprogrammers but they gone sadly. someday i want to find a digital dash and the voice box and then set them up to work as a display piece somehow
Does anyone know if the "All monitored systems are working correctly" is a line that plays during normal operation? Or is it an announcement that it successfully completed the prompt cycle?
You have to leave the switch open for a few seconds and after 15 seconds the button on the door frame is pressed and the other one is left pressed. Is that the procedure?
The blue 88 i repainted and dropped a new motor in it..the Turbo New Yorker is an all original car. And the 83 400 is also an all original car minus the top. I do all the work myself.
My dad hated those things. He’d say the same dad joke: “No my door is not ‘a jar’ my door is a door!”
My grandparents had this car! It was so high tech back then 😎
I remember figuring that out trick on my Mom’s ‘84 Lebaron.
I love doing it at car shows, the kids love it. And teenagers love the turbo 2.2
"No, a dooor is not a jar (ajar)."
LMFAO! 😆

Yes, my blind grandmother kept forgetting to turn her headlights off but we were always glad she made it home safely

Similar to the EVA on my long gone 1986 Laser XE. Thank you. I plan on using some of these in a project on my current vehicle.
Reminds me of the "old Conrail defect detectors" with that synth voice.
Still better than uConnect.
I’ve never had more trouble out of anything than the uconnect stereo in my jeep 😂😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Takes me back to college and my 84 Lebaron convertible. Wish I had known this trick!
My dad had a 1985 New Yorker with the 2.6 engine. I miss that car!

I would still love to have this car, cause the way my mind is set up, EVA and Alexa can get it.
This to me is way better than modern digital. I drove a Pacifica sometime back that went nuts when I got close to a car in front of me.
Wow! Speak and spell in a car 😂
Same microchip actually
“A door is a jar”
No, the door is a door
@@rexjolles what? the car is clearly stating that its a jar.
"THAT IS INCORRECT!"
No. It’s a door.
“an door is an door” “an jar is an door” CHOOSE ONEEEE
I had this car, with more voice functions... "Your washer fluid is low", etc.
Love these alarms
1:48, BABY!!!!!!!!!
I had the ‘83 model. It was white with red interior. My first car.

The Airbus Jet liners has that Electronic voice alert in flight deck which sound the same as this.
"YOUR DOOR IS A JAR"

Fun technology at the time, but the cars were basically garbage.
How can someone stand this horrible voice and all these boings and beeps that the car does? It would drive me completely crazy if my car did this!
