You may kill me, but I love the dark, intense and powerful voice of Blaze, the X-Factor is a Masterpiece, both musically aswell as lyrically, and we still hear echoes in their later music. He wasn´t a great frontman, I´ll give you that, BUT if the band had lowered the tuning one step, or at least left songs as: Hallowed, Trooper, Clairvoyant and so on out of the set list...they made a terrible mistake, Blaze on the other hand, tried his best but filling the shoes of Bruce was too much....to all of you that think this is crap, check out his solo career, shows and albums...then you´ll know exactly what I´m talking about..

I've been a Maiden fan, attending their shows when they tour my area, since 1984. I was really bummed to see Bruce go, but I gotta say, I'm really sick of some of the attitudes I see in the comments of Blaze videos. When someone plays a Bruce era video, everyone seems to talk about the band etc. But, when a Blaze era video is played, people only want to compare Bruce to Blaze. Damn it guys, please stop! The work the band put into these great songs deserves better commentary and music related discussion doesn't it? It just seems so shallow to only compare two dudes to each other all the time. You may as well talk about the color of their shoes too. Maiden is a legendary band and I've always trusted their judgment on picking their own lead vocalist. Blaze doesn't suck, he's just different than Bruce and he has a great voice. Gotta say, I'm glad Bruce came back, but I'm not dogging the Blaze era, I moved on from that decades ago and wish other long-time fans would too.
Exactly. Blaze and Bruce are two completely different vocalists with two completely different voices. If you doubt the quality of Blaze's voice then I suggest listening to his solo albums. Blaze has some stones if he stepped into a spot left vacant by a legend like Bruce Dickenson knowing that he would get ripped by a good portion of the fanbase. I seriously doubt that all the Blaze bashers would jave turned down the Iron Maiden gig if it had been offered to them.
I was there, I was 24 years old, now 47. It was the first Maiden show in Chile and we were all really fuckin crazy. Since that time Iron Maiden has played 11 times in total in Santiago, I have been in each and every time the romance between the band and the Chilean fans is greater.
I think that Blaze is a good vocalist. The problem was that he has entered to replace Bruce. If he was the substitute of Paul Di'anno, Blaze would be there up until today. In my opinion, Blaze was the right guy in the wrong time.
Dave is awesome, always plays great, sets his personal mark on every Maiden-song, and love his solos. "Still Life", "Deja-vu" and the early "Charlotte the Harlot" are also three favourite Iron Maiden-songs. Great guitarplayer.
it was always going to be hard to fill Bruce's boots. The early Di'anno songs Blaze sings well. As said before he tried his best but the songs should have been tuned down.
Blaze is a good singer, and his work on The X Factor and Virtual XI is great, but singing Bruce Dickinson songs all night, every night, is a near-impossible task.
To me is the Blaze Bayley albums PURE GOLD.....The melancholic tunes, lyrics that cuts deep into your heart and soul, we also hear them use theese gentle slow intros and outros that adds something magical to the songs. Blaze´s dark, intense mature voice makes them more than unique, they are simply outstanding !!! The masterpiece X-Factor is one of my most loved albums....aswell as THE most important albums through their entire career.....Why the guys wouldn´t lower their tuning in their classic songs will forever be a mystery ....
Eje, The evil that men do, hallowed be thy name....
The X Factor was one of the first albums I ever bought when I was a kid. Amazing memories listening to this again, and actually seeing a video of them performing it this time! :')
Thanks to all who acknoledge that Blaze is a great singer whose natural range is just considerably lower than Bruce's. It's amazing what Blaze did in his Maiden concerts singing songs of a young tenor.

I''m a massive Maiden fan, and Blaze was ultimately not right for the band. But he is still a great rock singer, he gave it everything and made some great music, and he deserves to be repected.
Uhh, I never auditioned for Iron Maiden and obviously completely lack the sort of talent they require of a singer. Therefore I think posting a video of ME singing The Trooper would just be silly, kind of like Blaze singing it here.
I agree with you. He is an incredibly talented vocalist and I personally love The X Factor and (to a lesser degree) Virtual XI. Comparisons to Bruce's work with Maiden is unfair (although not surprising). Listening to his two albums with Maiden is an awesome experience in my opinion.
I don't care what anyone thinks but I think Blaze KICKED ASS as a front man for Iron Maiden during this time. This is my opinion not yours. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!! Man On The Edge, Lord Of The Flies, Fortunes Of War,Blood On The Worlds Hands, Sign Of The Cross KICK ASS!!!!!!! Plus we saw them on this tour. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!! \m/ \m/ ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Dude...respect your opinion...but Blaze can,t sing the Bruce,s song... this is an undeniable fact that goes beyond any opinion...just to give an example, he can not sing the clairvoyant ... he just can not
Blaze is an epic frontman. I love his two albums with Maiden and I'm really digging his solo work right now. I think it might have helped on the older songs if they had chosen to downtune the instruments since Blaze doesn't have the high end range that Bruce has. Still, Blaze didn't do a terrible job with them and I like the fact that he sang like himself instead of trying to sing like Bruce.
He was the man, no doubt. But those songs have more to do with Steve and company. He sang them, though, and did a great job on the albums. It's not like Bruce wrote their biggest era songs either.
I absolutely love the Blaze era!!!! The X Factor is an amazing album and I enjoy it much much more than I did No Prayer For The Dying and Fear Of The Dark. There are some great songs from both those albums but a change had to happen. Even Bruce knew something had to change and chose to leave and start a solo career and came out with much better material solo than those two albums. I even liked his Balls To Picasso album better than his last two albums with Maiden from his first run with the band.
Blaze is a good singer and the songs originally recorded with him in the band, as well as the Di'anno songs, he sings very well. He simply just does not have Bruce Dickinson's range in the high register.

His voice is absolutly brilliant but forceing him to sing songs without tunning down was a stupid idea.
After trying to interprete to two bruce songs in bruce's tone his voice gets exhausted and naturally he can't even sing his own songs. This is not his fault. The band should transpose the songs at least -2 so he could naturally sing. He's a great singer and I love his albums and voice.
TO ADD ON BECAUSE I AM NOT FINISHED, BLAZE DESERVES NOTHING BUT PURE APPRECIATION BECAUSE HE CARES FOR MAIDEN A LOT AND BELIEVES THAT MAIDEN IS NEEDED IN THIS WORLD, EVEN IF HE ISNT WITH THEM ANYMORE HES MORE THAN HAPPY THAT THEYRE STILL GOING ON. BLAZE IS HONESTLY THE MOST HUMBLE AND CARING MAN THAT IVE SEEN IN MUSIC HISTORY. HES SO UNDERRATED AND EASILY HATED WHEN THAT SHOULDNT BE A THING BECAUSE HE IS SWEET AND LOVES PEOPLE. I KNOW I DONT KNOW HIM PERSONALLY BUT FROM WHAT I KNOW FROM HIS INTERVIEWS AND SHIT HE CARES A LOT AND ISNT THE TYPICAL ASSHOLE SINGERS THAT WANT MONEY AND FAME. HE JUST WANT PEOPLE TO BE HAPPY AND HIM TO BE ABLE TO EXPRESS ON WHAT HE LOVES. I ADORE BLAZE FOR HIS CHARACTER AND HIS TALENT. THE FACT THAT I ALWAYS SEE PEOPLE JUDGING HIM FOR LITTLE SHIT IS AGGRAVATING AND I HONESTLY HATE THE MAIDEN FANS FOR THAT. MY FUCKING RANT IS DONE. PEACE AND LOVE FOR BLAZE BAYLEY
Youre right. i am a MAIDEN fan I've been forma 25 YEARS .tje x factor is one of their best albums AND Blaze's voice Is perfetc ir THE álbum , in MAIDEN classics he was very accurated THE problem Is that's our friends Steve Harris denied to tune down THE songs so blaze was sacrificated forma this.
I am really a fan of Blaze, and I agree that all the criticism of him is not at all justified. But even I have to admit that here he had a bad day. He usually had some troubles to sing the Dickinson-songs (because the band refused to tune down the guitars), but here he even struggles a bit during his own songs. But that should not be a basis of general dislike. Bruce had (and still has) some bad days once in a while too.
BLAZE TEM UM VOCAL BOM, CLARAMENTE MAIS GRAVE QUE O BRUCE, PORTANTO FICA DIFICIL PRA ELE CHEGAR NO TOM DO BRUCE, MAS AS GRAVADAS NO TOM DELE SAO MUITO BOAS. PENA QUE O VOLUME DO MICROFONE DELE ESTAVA BAIXO SE COMPARADO AO VOLUME DO SOM NO P.A FRONTAL, MAS DEVIA ESTAR BOM NO P.A SIDE POIS A COZINHA FEZ O SOM DE BOA!
It's obvious that Blaze is trying. If Maiden would tune a step down it'd be so much easier for his voice. Let's not forget this guy is a bass in comparison to Bruce who is a baritone (at least since 2000)
Blaze definitely has a much deeper voice than Bruce. Blaze is actually a good singer and it's a little unfair to compare him to Bruce. It's apples to oranges. It would have changed the feel to tune down a step but the feel was different anyway with a singer besides Bruce singing the old songs.
Life long Maiden fan. Never listened to them in these years, only in the 80s and recent. Blaze did great service to the band, he became Maiden. He didn't make the band look any weaker, the old songs are just as good with him.
I agree with everyone else, Blaze was not the right fit, but he is a good singer for metal. If I was asked to sing for Iron Maiden even if I know it wasnt quiet right... i would sing my ass off like him and give it hell. Blaze, your still a hell of a singer bro.
+Michał Skup It is true! Each one sings in a diferente way, it must have been respected. He is a good singer but he has his skills diferente from Bruce.
This tour was my first iron maiden tour in Manchester UK . and it was unbelievable so much emotion from blaze . just a shame he only did 2 albums as I feel he was getting comfortable with the way maiden played just my opinion
Actually I like Blaze's voice but nobody should have forced him to replace Bruce Dickinson. You can clearly see and hear that he is trying his very best but he simply cannot keep up with Bruce. He was the wrong choise for Iron Maiden.
I don't think it's so much that Blaze was the wrong choice as it is that they didn't adjust things to work with Blaze's voice. Blaze fit well with the darker sound of the two studio albums he sang on but it might have helped to downtune the guitars and bass to play the songs in a lower key. The older songs definitely would have had a different feel had they been tuned down but they would have had a different feel with anyone besides Bruce singing them anyway. I actually respect the fact that Maiden chose someone like Blaze as they knew that they couldn't replace Bruce so they chose to go in a different direction.
He was pissed off at some people in the crowd, I personally have seeing people doing weird stuff from the pit like tossing ice to Bruce, laser point at the eye and Bruce gets almost as pissed as Blaze, its just retarded, wtf would you go to a concert to do that?
Maiden ultimately should've stepped down a note on the older songs so Blaze wouldn't be singing out of his range. Months touring singing higher than you should, and you're gonna be off key more often than not. Blaze does a good number of these tracks with his solo band, plays them in the right key, and sounds amazing.
@@chaosapiant definitely, and why Maiden couldn´t change their tuning to his vocal range will forever be a mystery to me, it´s obvious that feelings were running high through the entire concert though, some people in the audience wasn´t nice, AT ALL.....
Hearing Blaze sing Bruce's songs seems kinda weird. (Just like how Bruce singing The Clansman makes me really uneasy). But I have Blaze does a pretty good job singing his own songs
It absolutely blows the mind apart that one of the biggest, most professional band on the planet, with access to the all the best musicians on the planet, would choose a guy who cannot even begin to pull the material off. Like, at no point during the vetting and audition process did anybody notice that he's missing like, half an octave required for the material, and that he sounds like he's running out of breath constantly? Really? That's utterly astounding to me.
+Devin Reiche That is amazing. The more videos that surface on youtube the more astonishing it is. I never saw Blaze live because of cancellations, but 20 years later I see how terrible it was. I can't believe Blaze even got a second audition.
+The Chucker Yes. This isn't some local band that has to just take whatever they can get, and make do with it. This is Iron Maiden. As if they don't have access to all the best singers on the planet. I'm really curious how they managed to drop the ball this hard.
+Devin Reiche Bruce can sing lower and higher so there is no comparison. I think it's good that they picked blaze because Bruce in the band now is even better than there 80s material tbh I can't wait for BOS tour
+Pat Merrill I am happy Maiden took him, otherwise I would probably never have heard his amazing solo material. He sings with so much passion and power ON THAT. But for Maiden he was the bloody worst choice. I totally agree, how coule they have done this?
+albert fish fan fact DUMBSHIT : Andre Matos took part in a worldwide contest for replacing Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden and was in the Top 3 finalists alongside James LaBrie and eventual winner, Blaze Bayley. Andre Matos and Labrie had an awesome voice back then. What did Blaze have? SHIT!
Eu gosto do Blaze e dos álbuns do Maiden com ele nos vocais, principalmente o The X Factor, porém o grande problema dele é ter que interpretar as músicas do Bruce, o que ele não consegue fazer, porém podem notar que em canções mais soturnas (semelhantes às do The X Factor) como Afraid to Shoot in Strangers e Fear of the Dark, ele consegue cantar sem comprometer. O Maiden errou feio quando fez o Setlist dessas turnês dos álbuns com Blaze, nunca deveriam ter incluído The Trooper, The Evil That Man Do, The Clairvoyant e essas musicas onde o Bruce alcança altas notas. Se quisessem tocar algumas que não fossem originalmente cantadas pelo Blaze deveriam ter escolhido mais músicas do Dianno (Prowler, Murders in the Rue Morgue) e dos álbuns No Prayer For the Dying e Fear of the Dark (Mother Russia).
For everyone saying how bad Blaze sounds here, I think this concert is also a really example of how important Adrian is to Iron Maiden. They really missed him as a live unit in the 1990s IMO.
OKAY I AM FED UP WITH PEOPLE JUDGING ON BLAZE JUST BECAUSE HE "REPLACED BRUCE" CANT YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND THAT HE HAD TO REPLACE BRUCE BECAUSE BRUCE WANTED TO DO HIS OWN THING. PLUS EVERYONE HERE IGNORES THE FACT THAT BLAZE WAS HAPPY WITH MAIDEN AND MAIDEN DEARLY CARED FOR HIM. IN CASE IF YOU DIDNT KNOW HE FUCKING WROTE DREAM OF MIRRORS BUT LET STEVE KEEP IT AND STEVE DIDNT EVEN CREDIT HIM. SO IF YOU LISTEN TO DREAM OF MIRRORS AND LISTEN TO THE LYRICS YOU WILL REALIZE THAT IT WAS BASICALLY BLAZE'S SONG. WHEN HE WAS IN MAIDEN STEVE MENTORED HIM AND HE HELPED HIM A LOT TO COMPOSE HIS OWN MUSIC. NOW HE WRITES HIS OWN SONGS, HE DOES HIS OWN THINGS. HE MIGHT NOT BE A HUGE THING BUT HES DOING HIS BEST FOR THE ONES WHO DEARLY CARE FOR HIM. BLAZE HIMSELF HAS GONE THROUGH SO MUCH IN HIS LIFE THAT EVERYONE IGNORES ABOUT. HE HAS GONE THROUGH A LOT MORE SHIT WITH HIMSELF AND HIS PERSONAL LIFE. YES SO DID BRUCE BUT THAT OCCURRED ONCE HE GOT OLDER, BLAZE WITNESSED SO MUCH PAIN DURING HIS MUSIC ERA.
i do feel sorry for blaze he doesnt deserve to be spat at! no one can match up to bruce but at least blaze gave it a good shot an ol harris must have thought he had a place in the family when he auditioned i say good on blaze he did well under the circumstances to be fair to him
+juan jaramillo he did better than anyone else could have done. you think Harris would have hired him if he wouldn't be any good? singing 2 minutes to midnight for example was tough for Blaze because he can't sing as high as Bruce. most of the songs like Wrathchild etc he nailed pretty well
The spitting wasn't out of disapproval though, it was just a stupid mid '90s thing, some people believed that if you were a true rock&roller you were supposed to enjoy disgusting things like being spat at.
They should have tuned down to accommodate Blaze's lower range even half a step down to Eb & it would have been a massive help....Even Gers said this in a later interview & Harris has said they offered to tune down for Bruce when he came back after his cancer treatment but Dickinson didn't want to....so I don't know why he didn't offer to help Blaze out the same way when you can hear him struggle...I believe at the time Blaze was also having a lot of hearing issues due to his monitors which would explain the intonation problem.Overall he did the best he could & when you see him perform with Wolfsbane back in the day you can see why Harris wanted him in the band. But he was no Dickinson impossible to replace a legend like that.
Ahora que volvio dickinson vamos haber si saca los tonos de bayley cuando cante the sing of the cross imbeciles the sing of the cross de bailey es genial
For historical reasons and Maiden fans this is great! Never saw Blaze live before... guy has a great voice but not for Maiden! Glad Bruce came back and that Blaze is doing his own stuff!
BLAZE DOES FINE but you cant blame BLAZE either the...something wrong with the LEVELS or they had a kinda show because they were looking for the guy doing the SPITTING while trying to PLAY at the same time!!! sheesh BLAZE RULES SO DOES PAUL AND BRUCE!!!
You may kill me, but I love the dark, intense and powerful voice of Blaze, the X-Factor is a Masterpiece, both musically aswell as lyrically, and we still hear echoes in their later music. What happened with the guy in the audience?
he spat on Blaze at the end of "Man On The Edge" and spat again but on Steve Harris at the end of "The Trooper"

+vio2112 It's more that you've ever done. Blaze is a very good singer and a great person as well.
Wrathchild612
Really? You don't know me or what I've ever done in my life. And no, I don't agree that he is a good singer. To my ears, he is awful.
+vio2112 Fuck you, Blaze is amazing.
+Anki Hansen Fuck you bitch. I said he fucking sucks. Deal with it.
Is it me or Dave is very consistent on his performances? He never misses a single beat.
Great fellah, great guitarist. I noticed how he stayed out of the hassle at the end of the show.
Dave is awesome, always plays great, sets his personal mark on every Maiden-song, and love his solos. "Still Life", "Deja-vu" and the early "Charlotte the Harlot" are also three favourite Iron Maiden-songs. Great guitarplayer.
And is always smiling, deffo the most positive band member, Steve took it way too seriously
He's the polar opposite of Janick, who doesn't seem to give a shit about staying in time or even in tune with the songs.
it was always going to be hard to fill Bruce's boots. The early Di'anno songs Blaze sings well. As said before he tried his best but the songs should have been tuned down.
Tuned down? How do you picture it?
@Tibor Õsz anything for you, your laugh´s on me.....but luckely I´ll never agree, they are pure gold !!
@@susannewilliamsson8339 I agree. I never listened to the Blaze music but I like the fact that he's not always doing that operatic thing.
Eje, The evil that men do, hallowed be thy name....

Blaze was a man on the edge in this show. It's a good thing he did not have an uzi or a bazooka because some fans were about to get it.

And if you disagree... I'd love for you to post a video of YOU singing 'The Trooper'...
Uhh, I never auditioned for Iron Maiden and obviously completely lack the sort of talent they require of a singer. Therefore I think posting a video of ME singing The Trooper would just be silly, kind of like Blaze singing it here.
+medicated yooper 😆
I agree with you. He is an incredibly talented vocalist and I personally love The X Factor and (to a lesser degree) Virtual XI. Comparisons to Bruce's work with Maiden is unfair (although not surprising). Listening to his two albums with Maiden is an awesome experience in my opinion.
FatherStack the X factor for me is tied for their best album with powerslave and iron maiden
The funniest part isn’t Blayze getting mad, it’s when he sings “WHAhayaHAYAYAHahEYS” at 1:46:16
That sound effect is going to be my alarm clock for the rest of my life.
I love The X Factor album
Jerry Hensley i like it but i'm in love with virtual lml
Then you know nothing about Heavy Metal. Sorry dude, no offence
I wonder which songs did Blaze audition that made Steve Harris say: "This is it!, This is the guy!"
Of course not songs with fast tempo from two first album of Iron Maiden
The setlist is for the most part awesome and Blaze is giving it his best, but simply can't keep up on some songs. Still, I love him.
I'm a big fan of Blaze Baily he did a great job of filling in, full of energy.
Respect to Blaze Bayley !!
Blaze sings Di'Anno's songs really well.
Bruce had (and still has) some bad days once in a while too.
sure because his voice went down cause the too much high bruce era songs
Well the tour started in September 1995 so it is pretty understandable having problems at the end of the tour.
The x factor is a fantastic album and Blaze Is perfect for afraid to shoot strangers
chile has the best fans, greetings from Brasil
Let's not forget this guy is a bass in comparison to Bruce who is a baritone (at least since 2000)
Bruce actually is a tenor
Blaze is a true baritone. And you're right. They should've step down the tunes for him.
@@sobornes239 for what reason? He sings oh his own pitch regardless of the rest band.
Blaze definitely has a much deeper voice than Bruce. Blaze is actually a good singer and it's a little unfair to compare him to Bruce. It's apples to oranges. It would have changed the feel to tune down a step but the feel was different anyway with a singer besides Bruce singing the old songs.
There's something bad ass and mystifying about Steve holding his hair back to get into a scrape.
Is just me or the voice is not has sequence with the video?
the same with the guitars

Life long Maiden fan. Never listened to them in these years, only in the 80s and recent. Blaze did great service to the band, he became Maiden. He didn't make the band look any weaker, the old songs are just as good with him.
I agree with everyone else, Blaze was not the right fit, but he is a good singer for metal. If I was asked to sing for Iron Maiden even if I know it wasnt quiet right... i would sing my ass off like him and give it hell. Blaze, your still a hell of a singer bro.
Blaze is amazing but person who forced him to sing Bruce song without tuning down instruments should be beated with Dave guitar.
+Michał Skup It is true! Each one sings in a diferente way, it must have been respected. He is a good singer but he has his skills diferente from Bruce.
Michał Skup
JUDAS PRIEST did exactly THAT for Tim Owens and it sounded AMAZING
They probably tried it and he might have preferred the tuning normal.
@@soeffingwhat according to Janick they refused to downtune.
Steve denied to tune down THE songs,,, that's why blaze Is a amazing singuer
Just came from a Blaze gig, Fucking awesome !
Yes Bruce is Bruce....but i still think Blaze did a good job with Maiden. You try and fill in for Bruce Dickenson and than let me know how it went..
I don’t think anyone “forced” him. It was the opportunity of a lifetime that he did his best on, but ultimately he was the wrong choice for the band
Wow. Blaze sounds really bad here. Maybe he was fatigued or something, but he was severely off key.
He's indeed very often off key.
He was pissed off at some people in the crowd, I personally have seeing people doing weird stuff from the pit like tossing ice to Bruce, laser point at the eye and Bruce gets almost as pissed as Blaze, its just retarded, wtf would you go to a concert to do that?
Wow... he doesn't sound good at all here. Quite bad actually.
@@chaosapiant definitely, and why Maiden couldn´t change their tuning to his vocal range will forever be a mystery to me, it´s obvious that feelings were running high through the entire concert though, some people in the audience wasn´t nice, AT ALL.....

saw him at download the other day he sounded amazing!!!
Ah yes, download
+albert fish fan fact DUMBSHIT :
Andre Matos took part in a worldwide contest for replacing Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden and was in the Top 3 finalists alongside James LaBrie and eventual winner, Blaze Bayley.
The aftermath = masterpiece
It's just me or the audio isn't sync with video after a few music? I'm on sing of the cross now and they are not sync. Someone have it too?
the firts concert in chile and the best , i was there
Meu show favorito do Maiden

i do feel sorry for blaze he doesnt deserve to be spat at! no one can match up to bruce but at least blaze gave it a good shot an ol harris must have thought he had a place in the family when he auditioned i say good on blaze he did well under the circumstances to be fair to him
+albert fish you dont know other thing ? yeah maybe his solo stuff is great but you have to recognize that he dont do a god job with maiden
+juan jaramillo he did better than anyone else could have done. you think Harris would have hired him if he wouldn't be any good? singing 2 minutes to midnight for example was tough for Blaze because he can't sing as high as Bruce. most of the songs like Wrathchild etc he nailed pretty well
He did perfect considering the situation. Had the band been clever enough to play in the correct tuning, he would be sounding brilliant.
The spitting wasn't out of disapproval though, it was just a stupid mid '90s thing, some people believed that if you were a true rock&roller you were supposed to enjoy disgusting things like being spat at.
It might sound stupidly harsh but he did deserve it. I would wnat my money back after a gig like this. And he was the sole reason it sucked
EStuve alli fue una experiencia fantástica,.

Blaze in Iron Maiden is like Santon play every Champions league game in Real Madrid for 4 years,is like Janik play Adrian solos
