Edit: Just realized that I neglected to mention exactly what 3 chords are being played for the rhythm. They are C minor, Bb Major and Ab Major. Sorry about that.
Hey gang! Now if you know me and tutorials, I usually stick (for the most part) to doing tutorials for the tough to find and slightly obscure ones.
Not this one obviously. But it was fresh in my head so I thought that I would sit down and throw my hat in the ring to add a bit more content to my channel, by doing a tutorial for it.
Somewhat of an intermediate tutorial as I shied away from the note by note approach and just played each passage slowly and explained what needed to be explained.
    Hope this helps you out.
    Cheers, Kelly

Thanks mate, but just to clarify, we don't have accents, it's the Australians who have accents.

Your playing the intro wrong. Starts at the B(2x) then to C#m (4x) then back to B(2X) then A(4X). Maybe you should try the Les Paul so Jimi can show you. lol.

The best tutorial on this song I’ve seen. Thanks for a great lesson.
And as I am a huge Hendrix fan I do have a Strat. So no danger of the ghost of Jimi Hendrix appearing.
Although maybe I should use my LP. A few things I’d like to ask Jimi 😂

Great job mate. So many players sliding into Texas blues while playing "Hendrix", it's refreshing to hear someone hit straight on Hendrix blues and those rhythm licks during the vocal; I've not heard anyone hitting them like you do. Kudos.
For what it's worth, I've never really been able to describe Hendrix but after listening to you it has become more clear to my ear, I think the closest I can come is, "west coast pre-grunge mixed with delta blues, and you do it so very well. Thank you for your wonderful ear and interpretation. Amazing, wow!

What a wonderful and patient lesson. And may I say highlighting Jimi’s extraordinary lyricism, subtlety and imagination, not to mention the very advanced production techniques he was deploying in 1968 including using phasing to make sounds on this track appear to come from behind you in the Stereo soundscape along with the careful use of reverb (years before 5.1) I don’t know that music has ever got much better than this really. As a kid back in 1968, it was spellbinding…

Great lesson !! Im a beginner transitioning to intermeidate guitar player but i dont know nothing about the pentatonic scale (and all the theoretical part you covered in this tutorial)....should i still attempt to learn this song or should i wait until i learn some of the music theory concepts before touching this song😅?.....Its just that I am listening to this song daily and have a tendency to play it on the guitar but I am not too confident if i should at the moment, not until i learn some theory concepts (that might save me time learning this song)

    Fantastic job
If someone is playing Hendrix stuff then you probably know your way around the guitar a bit already. On other tutorials the teacher is showing how to play regular chords and stuff that you should already know and it takes up a lot of time. The way your showing us is so much better. I like you just slowing it down. So much easier.
    Again, great job

Your slow, careful repetition of parts for novice Players is very admirable. But for experienced Players who can see and do songs on sight, you should start with a full run through and then break it down. Doing that will SKY ROCKET your subscriptions because the novice players will rewind to practise with the opening run through after they put the individual licks together. Cheers mate, subscribed, wishing you big success!!

    • @KellyDeanAllenGuitar

Thanks Mark! To be 100 percent honest, I really don't enjoy breaking everything down fret by fret, note by note. I'd much prefer doing straight up walkthrough type tutorials at more of an intermediate to advanced level, but as I don't use or show scrolling tabs in my tutorials, I'm trying not to appeal to strictly more advanced players in everything I do. But believe me, I'd prefer to do these lessons without breaking them down so diligently.
