You brought out the fun in this solo Kelly. So much of that is missing in today's music. Your bends and slides were immaculate man. You are pure joy to watch.
Kelly, man...you stuck the landing. You nailed the wah-wah sweeps and phrasing. I could wax poetic about your whole performance here, but I really wanted to say that it’s been most enjoyable watching your video/presenting style come into its own. From one “nobody guitarist” to another 😉...please keep doing what you’re doing. It’s always a treat to watch.
Keep going back to this. Unbelievable accuracy on those solos especially those bends. Your octave licks substitution for the original 12 string slide part is terrific. Sounds very like what Hendrix played on the Atlanta live version. Fantastic work Kelly Dean. I’m in awe of your abilities my friend. Thank you for the recent Watchtower lesson.
Really wicked playing & another awesome video. Your passion is infectious & your commentaries are insightful & humorous. Truly unique among a sea of RUclips clones.
God I wish we could somehow get to hear Jimi's earlier versions of the song. Maybe it might not be as well put together as the final result, but getting to see his original ideas and then how they developed into the final product we all know and love would be very interesting
Yeah, shitty. I thought the mix sounded great in my headphones. A few others were saying that the guitar was too low in the mix as well. Others said it was just fine. I'm a bit lost, haha.
You nailed it dude. I think it was Pepper Keenan who said people like Buddy Guy and B.B. King said more with 1 note than most players do playing 100 in one run... I love playing in that groove and just bending those notes up until they work! 😂😂 Killer job on this song as usual. One of my idols!
Oh man. You truly amaze the hell out of me. Your putting your heart in this and how I dont know as you've filled it with soul too!!! Killer channel. GOLD!!!
Love this one! Inspirational! I've been playing for 2 years and starting learning guitar solos. Mostly by tab or your tutorials. Did you ever write down or make a video about how you go about learning a solo? Like tips for learning to play by ear? Just looked on your page but couldn't find it, but maybe I looked over it. Thanks!
Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails is another song that's almost synonymous with the artist who covered it, rather than the original artist.
The song Without You was more of a rock ballad until Harry Nilsson released his far more popular cover. The original artists, Badfinger, also started to perform it live more like the cover.
I've been watching your stuff for a while since I saw one of your reddit posts in r/guitar. Awesome stuff Kelly. What are your plans after you finish the final four?
I fiddled with this mix forever. Drove me nuts. Sounds perfect to me on my studio monitors and my headphones. Even on my phone the mix sounds right. Ya sure about that? Anyone else wanna chime in? I'm curious.
Kelly Dean Allen Guitar Your guitar is a bit low in the mix IMO, especially when I compare it to the original where Jimi’s lead guitar is straight at the front. I don’t know enough about mixing to suggest a solution and it’s not a big problem anyway, but I can hear the difference. The playing is absolutely perfect and I can still hear every note, but it’s just not punching through as much as it should. Sorry if this sounds harsh, I just want to listen to you play amazing lead 🙂
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar I wondered that myself at first but then realized that I believe you are playing over a backing track and yours is the only electric guitar (except to the slide which did overwhelm your octave riff). BTW, I found your thoughts on emotional, melodic playing interesting - couldn't agree more!

“More satisfaction with 20 perfectly bent notes...” Perfectly stated.
Thanks mark!

Cool man, thanks very much for that.
Great history lesson on Hendrix and his work on this song. Learned a few new things about the making of this song.

What a cool document you've created. Not just climbing the guitar mountain, but taking us all along for the journey.

Wow, one of your best videos yet! From the playing to the tone, feel and talk afterwards. Amazing stuff!
Nailed it and as always I loved your post-song exposition. You are fantastic!
Love the excitement that you obviously got out of playing that. Fantastic job as always 👏
Build up to the final note is epic, great playing
Thanks Keegan as always. Good to hear from you.
Awesome Kel. Love the commentary.
i always LOVE your commentary Kelly. Very good, once again.
Thanks man. Wish this channel would take off a bit more and more people could hear it. Work hard on this shit, haha.
Super job, Kelly!
The playing was brilliant. I kept turning my volume up to hear the guitar better. Great job, as usual.

7:25 you nail the reason i play what I do. And why i love Gilmour too

This rendition has been probably my most favorite solos to watch so far. Great job bro.
Well, that was special! Absolutely nailed it and very interesting commentary. 53 years? Starting to feel old now. 😆
Bravo 👏 well done sir hello from Canada
Great work dear friend Greetings from Sweden
GREAT: COVER BROTHER CONGRATULATIONS FROM MÉXICO!!!

Always there for a kind word Robert. Thank you as always!
Wow great playing and really interesting info afterwards, didn't know about the bass!
Well done sir! This is one of my favorite songs. Especially, Jimmy's take on it.
Great job as always, and excellent commentary and analysis!
Well played and well said.
Very nice man ! Sounds superb! 🎶👏
Smooth all the way Kelly man
Phenomenal, as usual!
Thanks Hugh!
Very nice, love the tone 🤟😎🤟
Best one yet!
Good data Daddio 🤠🎶
Very nice single take and amazing history of the song! Can you also share your experience with your Fender guitars?
Amen to everything you said.

jimi would have liked this

I wouldn't say almost 😊
Tainted Love. I'm pretty sure most people have no idea the Soft Cell version isn't the original.
Maybe among older people

Hound Dog by Elvis too
You always have such great tones, Are you still using bias fx 2? if so would you be willing to share them in the Tonecloud?
Still using bias fx2, yes. Never think to upload them. I suppose I should.
I've been watching your stuff for a while since I saw one of your reddit posts in r/guitar. Awesome stuff Kelly. What are your plans after you finish the final four?
Are you going to do the Pulse version? It is the best of all time :)
I'm not sure. It only took me a night to get down the album version so I have some time to play with. Might do both.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar No problem, I have been waiting for this since about the 70's. Can't wait!
Last time I was this early I was a sperm.
Reference to Wolfenstein the new order trailer
May just be my old ears, but the solo is so low in the mix, I can't really tell much about it.

@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar Sounded very good to me! Seriously. You added volume as need throughout which added the emotional value. IMHO
FYI I used a Note 9 ...No headphones. Stereo speakers.
