  • "What we've seen previously in this war is that after an initial shock or surprise, things regress to a norm. And the norm is what we call entropy in the military, that is, we've the advances have been in a classic glacial pace."
Russia has been unable to repair its military structure after Putin's initial failures in 2022, says Maj. Gen. Chip Chapman as Russia's grinding offensive on Kharkiv seems unlikely to take the city.

This is just an aspect of the same integrated C4ISR/ISTAR paradigm the west has been working toward since before the Cold War ended and is embodied in the F-35 system-of-systems communications and sensor architecture which was developed during the late 1990s. Drones are not new, they were used during the Vietnam war, even got used during WWII. The intention was always to use C4ISR/ISTAR to mass-target any army that comes out to fight, and much more than 30 km away. It's barely been used yet.
