Nice video 👍 I love works by Yoshitoshi Abe. I first discovered him from a video comentary like yours by a channel called Beyond Ghibli. Glad to see more people knowing about it. If you like these old, kinda weird but quite deep anime, I'd recommend "Welcome to the NHK" if you haven't already watched it. Also I'm a subscriber from now on 👍 Keep making content cuz I'll be on for the ride.
Cool find! Btw to kick up the quality i'd recommand having a music in the background. It helps cover the silence in low points, gives more energy and can enhance your timings e.g. the joke you do at 1:49 where you could remove all music to enhance the awkwardness of what you're going to say next. Keep it low, around 1/3 of your voice volume 👍keep it up
Only if one is very very careful with it. It can easily become distraction. I listen most of my videos for commentary, opinions and information and I glance it occasionally if there is something interesting to see. There usually is very little need to have any empty space filled with sound, like silence itself was somehow a bad thing which you should avoid at any cost for some reason. E.g. long pause can be edited, or sometimes it can also be effect in itself. Like let what was just said to sink in a bit. Like with movie or series; sound and music can enhance scenes but if it's a constant wall of sound for the sake of it, it becomes redundant. List of worst videos (outside bad content) I've encountered are those which are supposed to be narrated, but have constant background music which is a bit too loud, or sometimes way too loud. There are videos I stopped listening simply because background music. That did not enchant the quality of the video but lowered it, I was interested what the person was saying, not to be distracted by the beat in the background. I've noticed one thing I've never wanted, to have interesting and compelling video to have background music just for the sake of it.
