- Herr Mannelig (also known as Bergatrollets frieri "The Courting of the Mountain Troll) is a Swedish folk ballad that tells the story of a female mountain troll (bergatroll) who proposes marriage to a young human man. The troll is trying to convince "Sir Mannelig" (Herr Mannelig) to marry her. She offers him many gifts but he refuses her because she is not a Christian. It's also implied that the troll is actually a pagan woman and that the song symbolizes a young Christian man resisting the material gain that would come with apostasy.

Joke's on him, then. He could have had a really awesome wife.
Christian dogma has prevented many happy endings.
...if he accepted another race ... where do we know this from ... ?
Not everybody likes jokes like this.
Here is the original song by the Swedish band Garmarna so you can hear the original version and voice pronanciation.
Emma, the lead singer is prononcing the R:s a little extra from modern swedish but this an older version of modern swedish. The lyrics are also whrighten in an older version of swedish. Its not the same version as the one that would have been spooken during viking times but a little bit more modern.
Its a hard song to cover n its 1000dns of covers but its a good effort n its good that the song lives on.
Greatings from Stockholm, Sweden! 21:11!

🤷♀️
It's not Garmarna's song, it's a traditional song.
This is absolutely amazing! From the beautiful instrumental and vocals, to the outstanding video production! 🖤👏

OMG What a Cover i Love It Please More
Amazing
Sehr schön gecovert und das Video dazu ist auch super!
Damn the ending! - Great version. Love the Garmarna version, as well as the one from In Extremo (which packs more of a punch). There is also an interesting italian kind of operesque version out there (Edit: Looked it up, it is by Cas for anyone interested). You done a great job with that wonderful song!
Wow beautiful
Beautiful Mystery
Garmarna the legend!❤
If a Viking went missing did they put a drawing of him on the side of a milking pail?
Кайф!
Да
🤜🤛🤝
Smoking tobacco did not arrive in Europe until after Columbian Exchange. Tobacco is native to South America. Hashish (THC) on other hand was available. So what is the Viking smoking?
I’m also pretty sure vikings didn’t have pointy ears or modern instruments and jewellery like shown in the music video. It’s just a stylistic, historically inaccurate, choice 🤷♀️
But if anyone had any knowledge or good sources on vikings’ drug use I’d be very interested in that
@@n.hauser6438 Mountain troll women did have ponty ears. Allegedly according to legends and myths.
@@n.hauser6438 mushrooms probably
Smoking the good sh!t, of course. Didn't you watch the whole video?
@@user-ug5sb6qg1u The good stuff comes from Humboldt Co.. CA .Learned that from Weeds.
Listening to this with my dog he just grew a beard !😂
Хорошо, что ваша собака "он", в противном случае было бы чудесатее😂
Pretty good cover and I'd say you pronounce Swedish better than most speakers of agglutinative languages would, but I notice a little over-softening in the consonant clusters, (in Danish pronunciation you would soften them this much) Still very understandable and beautiful!
Thank you very much, to be honest, I don’t speak the language and I learned all the words only by hearing the pronunciation from other performers. In general, I really like the culture of the Nordic countries, maybe I should seriously think about learning the language
What an ending... Wow
Ah, I didn't know this was the same artist from before lol
same with who? )
@@lostinthewoodsmusic I was thinking that this sounds like the kind music thar people with Swords would listen to
:D @@moribundknight2896
I'm not sure "cover" is the correct term here. This isn't Garmarna's song.
It’s folk song actually 😁
Всё круто, но почему не в 24 фпс... Кинематографичнее было бы
Ну вот никак иначе? Спокойно не уснешь, пока неиз@бнешься тухло?
