When I was kid in the 1980’s I remember seeing the Casio DG-20 in sales Catalogs for electronic stores and toy stores. I haven’t seen one since then until the thumbnail of this video. Very cool.

I have a fascination of ancient instruments like shamanic drums, it may just have one playable tone, but they're strummed to resonate at very low frequencies reminiscent of your heartbeats as we can hear them with our own ears and how we feel them. And then there's this instrument called a "bowed harp" which is very drone based in its' sound. (:

I have a whole studio of thrift-store found musical equipment, but one of my personal favorites has to be the Suzuki Omnichord 200m I found in the kid's toys section for $2.99 in mint condition (still had the factory protective film on the touch sensor).

Young fellow, I own synthesizers that are older than you... and I remember trying out the Casio DG20 when it was new... I also had a shot of the Casio PG380 which is a MUCH more interesting take on guitar-to-MIDI/guitar synthesis, as it has a "Phase Distortion" synth engine built in. Try get a hold of one.
There's also MISS DIGITAL GUITAR.. It has no strings but has a TOUCHPAD CONTROLLER instead. And it sounds like these old pixel games themes/soundtracks.
Davie is not only pro on Bass but he knows playing other instrument ,mind blowing

If you like goofing around with this kind of stuff Dreams for the ps4 has a level designer that can make toys out of synthesizers really well. Would be absolutely wild if that game wasn't Sony exclusive, it inherently works as a safety filter though.

I've been a dedicated follower of his since seeing his version of the BÖC classic "Don't Fear The Reaper" - each instrument played on a separate iPad and all overdubbed with video editing to make a perfect version of the song (there's even a Cowbell iPad 'cause the producer always demands MORE COWBELL!). My school had one, wouldn't let anyone play it, was covered in a decades worth of dust, the plastic strings were somehow rust coloured

I had one in the 90's and even used it as an occasional bass or for special needs like a string pad or to trigger sequences (attached via midi with my "ancient" PC and my Roland D-110) in gigs! (obviously not in rock gigs but with a NeoFolk mostly acoustic group). The internal sounds where mostly useless but it had a mode that sent a different channel for each string and with my multichannel Synth it was VERY workable. (no glitches at all but also no velocity info... limited use but in some moments it saved the day and simplified my setup).
These instruments are not just weird, they are relaxing too. You will become very tired if you play a note from one of these. These should be used care.... 😴

The weirdest is one that almost nobody knows about. It looks like a guitar but it's missing strings. The fretboard is way too long, and it's tuned way too low. Only Pros can even figure out how to get sounds out of one. Even wierder it's named after a fish

I actually bought a Kalimba when I was hospitalised. I had wanted to learn it for so long, what better time than now right? The melodic tunes are so soothing! Do play more using the kalimba too!
What Davie needs in his collection of instruments are a waterphone, xendrum, a Chapman Stick (or Warr Guitar), or an Earthhorn. LOL! Great to see a stylus synth in the mixture.

I had a friend with a Chapman Stick that was as long as a bass, looked cool, but he was just learning to use it at the time.
