Very nice but some items seems very expensive. My wife for instance would rather buy the fabric and take it to her dressmaker it works out much cheaper. It is a pity that more fabrics are not made in Ghana there are 2 shops in Accra mall as you enter which have lovely fabrics but the are both European owned. Then you have the fabric which is sold in places like Ashaiiman Market which is all made in China.
Thank you Vanessa aka VNQ, for the continuous work you do to help shift the negative narrative that the Western world and main stage media like to focus on when it come to mama Afrika.
This was great! And I would love to see a video on the new bars and “Instagram worthy” places that have opened since the year of return stuff. Things have changed in Ghana since I was last there due to that rise in interest from the year of return

Just love your vibes, knowledge and perspective. You are an inspiration and i cant wait to move back to Ghana from the UK. Hope to see you one day, actually, i know i will. Take care.
The Lotte Accra is absolutely stunning, wow! I saw they were moving, it looks beautiful. The Shop Accra’s mud cloth kimonos, are they by Threaded Tribes? I know Threaded Tribes are famous for them and sustainably source them, which is great. The Studio 189 Batik is also stunning. Kiki clothing is fab, I have 2 dresses from there. Got great and super convenient. Also loving your jumpsuit Vanessa. Thanks for showing us around.
Threaded tribes actually put out a statement about the shop accra practically stealing their concept/ideas. They apparently used to work with the shop accra but no longer stocks there due to some issues. They've advised not to shop for the cloaks at shop accra.
There are two kinds of development. 1. the country develops before its people 2. the people develop before the country in Ghana's case, it's number 1. Ghana is developing faster that its people.
You are right about "not marketed to the average Ghanaian consumer". "Expensive" and "overpriced" are relative. The GC paid £1450 for a steak wrapped in gold leaf at Salt Bae's Nusr-Et without batting an eye lid. There's someone who cannot afford "Kofi Brokeman" for lunch at Opera Square, Accra.
But surely Ghana must have a range of shops just like in the UK you can shop at Primark or in Harvey nicks, in one place you could get a top for £5 in another place you can get a top for £3000
The kempisky stuff is overpriced.i do hope they really support the community they claim they do. Vanessa do a video on the kempisky boutique's coporate social responsibility stuff.

The prices at Kempinsky are offensively overpriced, bad business move to even locate your shop there, I would buy the material and find a tailor or seamstress to sew the same thing for me, less than a quarter of this dollar price.
They always want to go and make money off locals but rest assured no one in America is going to spend $600 to buy these clothes so they will continue hanging there gathering dust trust me .
Our clothing line had problems trying to sell from The Lotte. They didn’t do any marketing of our brand. It’s a consignment arrangement, meaning that the brand maintains ownership of the garment and The Lotte takes a cut once the garment sells. The owner of The Lotte didn’t understand the obligation to market the brand under a consignment deal and she was quite absent from the operation of the business. Very disappointing and frustrating.
