Nice to see a video of a guy actually setting up and having a go. Makes a nice change from the usual 5-15 minutes of some bloke just filming the contents of the antenna box. Nice one Matt.
Cheers for the comments Cliff. Its all working well for me now so it was worth the effort. Cheers!
I had a cb in my truck, back in the 80's, and felt a little nostalgic, and decided to go home base, 40 years later. Looking for visualisation on antenna setup. I hope this video helps.
A trip how cb sounds so polite in Britain. So different than our ch 6 here in the states!!!
The one thing I’ve learned from watching this video is that you have lots of wood decking!
Great to get that first contact after all the installation work.
Good to see set up alright
Matey you could have oiled that table and gained a few extra brownie points with the other half. Many thanks for these videos they have inspired me to get back into cb after a 40 year break.
Cheers for the comment. Love was not given to the Garden Table as it was replaced soon after with a glass topped variety ;)
I got same antenna mine never had the markings I did mine so can see rod going in through the slit. I using a heavy garden base with a 6 foot pole. One good thing you got though is your up slightly from the floor. Everyone says I need to get it above roof but I can't do that where I am. So it's better than nothing.
hello, matt im ct3025, ive just put a silver rod up pleased with it .
Can't believe how quiet it is on there these days! I stopped using an FM rig back in the 80's, contacts 50+ miles on a regular basis using my Harrier CBX and Avanti Sigma 4. Remember talking to a bloke in Scotland and one in Devon, I was in Worcs! Good old days! Thinking about coming back, although on AM and SSB...
Yes it is much much quieter than it was back then but there are still some people out there. I've found getting on to a regular net on a set channel at a set time is the best way to hear people and I've had more success with SSB than with the old UK40. I'm still planning to get out on some high ground during the summer and expect that that's when I'll have the most success. Good luck with your efforts!
Nice Hotel. Great video too.😀
Nice Rotel too.
Those silver rod antennas are notorious for bending up in strong winds due to the criminally thin aluminium construction.
I have to say that mine has taken quite a beating over the last year or so. I do plan on doing some 'maintenance' on it before winter draws in. I bought an aerial matcher recently so I'll be posting a video around it fairly soon
What band of Citizen's band is your transceiver? Is it the UK40 or the CEPT band?
