2nd time replacing fans but on different cards. Each time I come back and watch this video to make sure I dont miss a step. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you so much for posting this. I have the exact same card and all the fans have quit. Very nice to have this guide that made it so simple to break it all down so I can test the fans, the harness, and also determine if the fan header has failed. I would have been totally in the dark without your fan replacement guide!
This was relatively simple. I thought this would be a lot worse to do but you explained everything perfectly. Thank you so much. Now I have a new set of fans on my gpu. You've definitely earned a sub.
Thanks for the video!. In my case after I took off the heat sink and the fans, I realized that making a slight force pushing the center of the fan's blades towards its body, I heard a little sound like a (tick...or prack) and after that, the blades that were a little slightly stucked, they aren't anymore. Before reassembly, I checked with 12Vdc PS its regular rotation. Now I'm going to put on my computer a see what happens. Another thing to take into account is that those fans haven't an easy-access hub location, as you can access and remove the "Teflon washer" and take off the rotor to clean its axis and so on... This section in these fans is sealed. Best regards!
very good video dude, I am stupidly worried about that one vram chip on the left side- it really needs another thermal pad as what was left was about 1/8 of the pad. anyway great vid dude, cheers from aus
To all those asking, you don't have to open up everything to access just the fans. I was able to access the fans by unscrewing the 3 screws in between the fan blades (a thin metalic tip screw driver will help). However, I just wanted to clean them and not replace them. To replace them I think you may have to open it all up because the wiring is all hidden away.
Thanks for this. I have a Gigabyte 980 Ti which has 3 of the exact same fans and nearly the same design and recently found out my middle fan is failing (hasn't failed yet, but it's getting there. My entire system is "falling apart" so to speak... one of my case fans was bad so I ended up replacing all of them plus added two intake fans and my CPU fan was dead as well (thankfully I have a huge heatsink so wasn't a big issue and no thermal throttling) so now I have all new fans, new heatsick with new thermal compound. Trying to keep this poor i7 6700K/980 Ti rig running as long as I can.
The 3 plugs from the cover to the board, do they power the fans? If I don't plan on running any fans and leave the cover off, do I need to replug anything? TIA
Sir, in my Gigabyt G1 1080 the plastic holding the fans and the heatsink snapped (the plastic holding the screws on the one where you unscrew it at 2:59. Can I apply super glue on that plastic? Right now I just put electric tape on that side because its hanging.
can you take the fan shroud off without removing the PCB and heat sink? I want to paint my fan shroud and was hoping it wouldn't require a full disassembly.
It may have been a good idea to replace the "pads" which thermally connect the RAM to the heatsink. I noticed that only the thermal paste between the main IC and the heatsink was changed.
do you use still nvidia inspector or does afterburner improve the power consumption? another thing when you would do a video on undervolting nvidia cards brO?
Thanks for this video! I watched it for the purpose of cleaning my 1070 after a long time of being stored (and was full with dust after 2 years of usage). Not for switching the fans. Both my 1070 and your 1080 here are looking and built the same. The only difference is that yours got 8 chips of MAGIC R15, while mine has room for 8, but including in it only 6. My question is: Do you know if it's possible to add 2 more of those MAGIC R15 to mine, and by that to upgrade it to work as a 1080?? If so - where can I got such 2 chips? And any info regarding best practices with those (mainly the DONTs) would be well appreciated as well. Thanks!
I have one of this cards in my desktop at work. I had it at home for a test drive and it was really loud in load, in comparison with my Asus Strix GTX 1070. Is it normal or is my card maybe faulty? Would repasting bring the noise level down? The card is really clean, I blow the dust every few months (holding the fanblades not to overspin.)
Hello brother please must reply. I want to buy pc for nexalt mining so please can you recommend me which pc to buy or what are the requirements for good pc. Please
i just got one question if you can answer me pls , i saw in many vids this is a malfunction default from these vids cards made by gygabyte. i had many vids cards it never happened . i have this one for a year and my fans were working good till i saw a day there was something going wrong .Fans works when i boot but stops when window is on . This is nothing to do with windows cause i have a multiboot with different windows 7 /10 on and never downloaded any fan regulator from any site so i know its the card .Even in game the fans dont work . Do you know something about this ? Great vid btw , i wish everyone would explain the way you do.:)
If anyone wonders, you cannot open the original fans to clean them :( They are sealed, and from what I know they use bearings, I think that is what causes the noise and vibration when it is worn out.
Depends on the GPU and fan type. More expensive cards use ball bearings and cheaper one’s use sleeve bearings. This particular GPU uses sleeve bearings and can be opened. I’ve lubed mine yesterday because one of the 3 fans began making noise.
I just took mine apart thinking it was fans.. but just found the bit behind it with all the fins and gold piping is fecked and rusty looking. Gtx1080 barely used.. dont even run games or gpu rendering... 18 months old and died.. piece of fucking shit :(
Sorry buddy, you cannot make $10/day with an i5 processor. Google "NiceHash Calculator", you can use them for reference, with an i5 you make ~$3 / MONTH and electricity for that is ~$6 /mo.

guess whos back. back again. love the music in this video
Your Fan replacement video is quite simple. Thanks for posting this invaluable tips
replaced 2 more fans. reference this video each time I do it to make sure I don't get ahead of myself. Thanks again for the video.

Thanks, replaced my fans using your instructions
Beautiful video bro, U precisely presented the whole process in easy steps,,,
Best of luck always with your projects,
Sam 😎✌🏻
Screwdriver size?
Nice , neat and clean job , well done! Thank you!
The auto "fan stop" work with these fans?
back again replacing fans on 1070. would love to see some videos going over thermal pad replacements on 30 series cards.
thanks for the video man i need to replace my fans on my gtx 1070 and you helped me with it bro
worked great for my 2080ti. same exact steps, thanks alot.

i too was looking at this for my 980ti - its not dieing but the fan 'drops down' as its spinning causing a shit clipping noise. goodluck mate!
The 3 plugs from the cover to the board, do they power the fans? If I don't plan on running any fans and leave the cover off, do I need to replug anything? TIA
bro thanks so much! your a life saver man i need to replace tha fans of my 980ti and this legit just explained it so well
thanks bro!!
These videos are valuable thanks for your contribution cared with the covid 19 greetings.
Informative video ... Thanks for providing step by step guide.
I did all this and when my fan is in the "Fan Stop" mode the fans actually don't stop but keep running. How could I fix this?
Got the same problem with middle fan.
You fixed it?
@@arsendavtyan6272 no I haven’t have you yet?
@@KickSki nope
you need a different model fan.
@@keithcevasco2827 I have the oem gigabyte one?
Next time you tear the memory thermal pads you should replace them or you will still get hot chips

Sorry, I was thinking about a different part. Electric tape it worse case scenario.
@@TheLifeofaMiner So can I remedy this with a super glue? the two plastic holding the heatsink and fan body snapped.
@@largamau under 100c superglue does not deform/decompose so yeah should be fine
Would a replacement fan for a 1080 fit a 1070?
Hi what your gtx 1080 idle temp and gaming temp ?
thx for the video just replaced mine but a bit different without disconnecting the gpu i just removed the top part
Is putting thermal paste on necessary when replacing just the fans?
can you take the fan shroud off without removing the PCB and heat sink? I want to paint my fan shroud and was hoping it wouldn't require a full disassembly.
It's very difficult (or impossible) to get to the screws on the side if you don't take off the heat sink.
I have an old gigabyte 670 sitting around. Would the fans in that work in a 1070? They look about the same size
Anyone know what size screw they are ? I removed the fans for a aio and now i want to go back to air.
back for a single fan replacement!
I have to do this on 6 Zotac gtx 1080ti mini. I order the fan on aliexpress. and wating now..
BTW. Where is the week 55 payout...
Helpful info. Thanks

This looks the same as the ones on p104-100. You have any idea if they will fit in p104-100

Do you really need to remove the entire cooler from the pcb if you are only trying to replace the fan?
I am wondering the same thing. I think that if you just remove the plate where the connectors are you have access to the screws.
It's very difficult (or impossible) to get to the screws on the side if you don't take off the heat sink.
@@TheLifeofaMiner Thats right, the connectors themselves are blocking access to one of the screws. (on my 2080ti gaming OC at least)
Excellent video thank you
does anyone know what size are the thermal pad uses on gtx 10 series, especially 1070 colorful igame?
Hey brother can you tell me the setting of nanopool please
