I recall going to Arclight Hollywood the day after Battlestar's finale. I needed to see a movie to take my mind off the finale. As I rode the escalator down to the main lobby of the movie theater, I saw Mary on her cell phone. I went to Arclight to forget about Battlestar only to encounter President Roslyn in the flesh.

Mary is a real deal actor - period. Laura Roslin is one of the all time most interesting roles of a “leader” character. So many layers… reluctant, principled, smart, determined, yet flawed at times; but not tragically so, and in service of a greater good. Awesome acting top to bottom 👍

I just finished probably my fifth time through the whole series and it was as good as ever. I also saw DWW in the theater when it was first released and remember being absolutely captivated by Stands With A Fist. Iconic role.

One of my favorite actresses. A movie is always elevated by her presence, no matter the size of her part. Amazing range.
There's an amusing little scene at the end of "Sneakers" with Sidney Poitier where she smiles after saying she's fine - it's such a luminous peaceful smile that it became an iconic moment from that movie for me. Also loved the arc of her character in "Mumford". "The Closer" was one of the few shows I was truly sad to see come to an end.

The writing. The acting. Everything about the show was Superior. It truly was one of the best dramas to ever be on television. It never got the recognition it deserved. As an actress who “I feel” starting later in life (per the beauty/age standards). How engaged I feel after hearing this. How much I relate to the feeling of always play catch up. And being a mother, having spent my 20s having babies and putting all my dreams in a box for that because I was told by my ex husband I can’t have that and be a good wife and mother. Thank you for this. This was absolutely wonderful and definitely one I will save a listen to again when those feelings creep up 🥰

I know you read these from time to time, and yes, I am definitely one of the people waiting for this interview (right behind the talk with Trisha too). I'm also, I think as I have mentioned on other posts, one of the ones that watched the original BSG (actually saw the original pilot in a theater in Canada in 1978) who was skeptical, at best, with a woman playing Starbuck. As is everyone else who doubted, I was very very fracking wrong.
As I've watched these I also have been consuming BSG again...to the point I'm getting about 4-5 hours of sleep a night. With absolutely no offense to Dirk Benedict, your portrayal of Starbuck is nothing short of Amazing. Tips from Edward (I can't bring myself to think of him as "Eddie" any more than I can the people who call Robert DeNiro "Bobby"...just seems disrespectful for someone not privileged enough to know him) and other truly great talents along your path, which you took to heart and added to the toolbelt, have molded you, along with your natural skills, into a brilliant actor.
Thank you for all of this...this glimpse to to these people along your path, as well as into who you are as a person...not just an actor. I'm watching the penultimate episode of the series as a write this with completely fresh, if not a little blurry eyes (must be a high pollen count). You are amazing, and so is the rest of the cast, and I am grateful to this podcast and your body of work to allow me to follow along on your journey.
    So say we all!
