I have never had luck with a half turn preload. I always go zero lash then 3/4 turn and I have not had any issues with that. I have used trickflow, comp cams and crane rockers and all were happy with 3/4 turn. But I have had multiple lifters fail over the years and that is exactly what happens. I hope you get it fixed and get some clean runs in! Can’t wait to see the results 🤗
All in all it was a good update VRM! Sorry that you’re having the valve train issues. I am just glad that you made it to the track and got some passes!
May I give you a recommendation sir , not all parts are equal ie height ,od id ,angles , set your valves with feeler gages , unless you have incorrect push rod lengh , check push rod ,rr and check for bent valves , I would probably pull the head anyway for complete inspection of all valves, pistons etc , I dont know your set up , hydraulic or solid cam etc good luck I do follw the channel ALONG with my friend @ THE GROVER CHANNELS AS WELL
it's hydraulic roller, the preload was 1/2 turn , probably going to try 3/4 turn and see if the tapping subsides, the suspect cylinder #3 does have compression but yes may end up pulling the heads to check everything! Thanks for the suggestion!
I don't think so it revs to 7K but datalog showed I was shifting around 6700, checking the valves a few bleed down pretty easy - quickly so that could be part of it also?

Never had that happen, came close to dropping a valve
never happened to me before either, maybe these Elgin lifters can't handle that much rpm?
Hey man no idea you had a yt channel . I’m the dude who was parked 2 car spaces over . I asked for a tire pressure gauge . Nice meeting you .
oh cool! yeah had fin out there, how'd you do out there?
@@vrm86gt I had fun man . There is some fast ass cars out there . I’m having to much blow by . Time for a rebuild 🥲
valve float ? how high do you rev?..

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get it back together soon👍
Thanks Tony I will, it's running just some tapping that I didn't like!
Did the lock come loose?
No it was tight upon disassembly and the rocker was in the correct position so it jumped aroud and went back to the correct position
