- STREAMER FISHING FOR BROWN TROUT!!
After a rough few months of fishing I decided to break out the streamer rod and try to catch some brown trout. Although the day was slow I got a few really nice browns to commit to the streamer. All of the hits I got throughout the day were weird, one of which I wasn't even working my streamer.
The browns in this river are some of the most beautiful brown trout I've ever seen. Their colors are nearly always vibrant, with some having some pink spots on them. They never cease to amaze me.
I hope everyone enjoyed this video! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe!
I'm RUclipsr in Japan. Watching your video makes us happy ☺️
Those were truly beautiful brown trout - and a beautifully produced video! I greatly look forward to your weekly adventures. Many thanks for sharing them!
Thank you for the support! Glad you enjoy the weekly videos
Great spot and top fishing trip, tight lines and thanks, greetings from New Zealand Trout fisher,, Tony.
Yo! Don’t think I’ve ever commented on here but I felt the need today. Fishing the small fast creeks/rivers you do has made you a great stick with that rod. Streamer fishing while wading is so much harder than from a boat it’s ridiculous…I’ve done both for years down here in tenn for both trout, musky and stripers and don’t nearly have the luck you do while wading. You’ve learned the fast water forces the fish to commit in a split second, forcing their instinctual ‘strike’ which is why you do so well. Keep using the fast runs to your advantage and you’ll bust out of a slump quick like today! Congrats bud! You earned your luck today!!!!
Thanks for the kind words!!! And for leaving a comment, it helps out a ton. I can tell you know what you’re talking about when it comes to streamer fishing. I wish you the best of luck out there!
Thank you for all your efforts, greatly appreciated 🙏
Another great fishing adventure!! Keep them coming!!
Those Brownies are so beautiful !!!! I love watching you catch them and I still dream of fly fishing when I don't get out! Thank you very much, now that the weather is breaking! Let's GO!!!!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed!!

Great beautiful browns Jon!!!
What a beautiful river and super nice browns!! I love your videos and they've got such clarity! Thanks for taking all of us along with you! I'm headed to float the Tuck in April. Tight lines
Thank you!! Good luck out there!
Great video! Appreciate you sharing. I have always wanted to learn how to fly fish and I am 66 years old. Still do by the way. I live down in south Texas west of San Antonio. Have not figured out how to go about it but your videos get me excited to learn. Keep up the great adventures. 👍
Always a great day on the water when beastie browns like those come to the net.
Awesome Fish! I can’t wait to get out for some steeles in a few weekends!
Feel the exact same way about the weather! It’s depressing. Thank goodness spring is almost here. Beautiful browns.
It felt like sprint today! Thanks for watching
Really enjoyed this video. Watching you bring in those browns. Really nice fish and when that one came out of the water after the streamer that made my day. The temps have slowly gotten warmer during the day but it's still chilly early morning and for the next 3 days we've got a system moving in so the barometric pressure will be up and the trout will be jumping from the break of daylight till about 8 or 9 in the morning. I'm stoked. Appreciate your honesty in your videos and expressing your efforts is just a plus and can't wait to see your next video. Until then, and always tight lines. Tony
Thanks for watching Tony!! And thank you for the kind words. Good luck out there on the water!
Good vid man. This type of fishing is why I subbed. This is what southern natural fish are all about.
thanks for another great winter fishing video.
Thanks for watching!
Great looking fish! Quality over quantity every time!
Couldn’t agree more!!
Gorgeous fish. Would love to fish with you guys. Glad you don't tell anyone where you are.
Such a great video, super, fishy looking water.
Some beautiful fish...Thanks for sharing...
Glad you enjoyed!
Very nice video. Very exceptional brown's, size and color. I'll say one thing, you definitely hit the timing just right on that trip. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Another entertaining video. So well done. The scenery is wonderful. Appreciate your hard work. Looking forward to the new Georgia series.
Thank you!!
Now that was some good brown trout fishing. Respect from Finland.
Thank you!
Another fantastic video dude you caught some absolute beauty’s! Thanks for showing off the flies!
Glad you enjoyed!! It was an awesome day on the water
Beautiful work~
Another very fine video 👍! I applaud your dedication and zeal to doing something you so very much love to do while recording and showing your efforts at times not under the best of conditions. There is something to be said for quality over quantity. I've experienced both and prefer quality. While not many in number those Browns you caught were absolutely beautiful ! Again, thank you for sticking through those "rough few months" and continue to march on !
Another great video thanks.
Killer video! Keep up the awesome work!
Winter fishing can be tough indeed, but it also can result in some of the best catches of the year. Quality over quantity is often the order of the day. Thanks for taking us along and God bless! 👍🇺🇸
Yup I catch my biggest fish in winter
Man thanks for keeping off the winter blues for me until the rivers up here thaw!!
looks like north carolina.....quality fish! well done.....
Great video!!!! I haven't watched too many fly fishing videos yet but i want to get into it. I've never seen anyone fish with a streamer as big as that orange one!! Crazy looking
Very nice Browns! Great video, thks for taking the time to put it together!
Thanks for watching Larry!!
@@hardmanfishing hey, select another person for the giveaway. Someone out there can use the prize more than me. I have more equipment than you can imagine.
Good fishing righteous. One look at that water and I would've thought way to much water they won't see, good to know I was wrong.
We are weekend warriors as well. The weather always seems to be at odds with us. I commend your determination! Made a great video. Keep casting my friend!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed the video man
What’s wrong with the weather in this video? Seems like a nice day to me.
Beautiful brownies bro! You worked hard for those, but I’ll take a day like that anytime! 👌
Sweet ... let's go brandon
Incredible content as always fellas ☝️🔥
Thanks Joel!
8:40 literally looked like flames coming off that brown, awesome shot and solid surprise fish man
Thank you! That fish was very impressive
very nice!
Sick!!!
Good Vid. Beautiful fish. Like the camera angles
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed
Wow that's a huge fly and beautiful stream. Don't be put off by over cast rainy weather it is great for trout fishing especially if you know where the fish are then they seem to bite harder, you just have to know where they are lurking though.
Trout brown or anyone else are interesting. Fishing methods make things interesting. You methods are sharpening by the day.
YES! Your right “JESUS” so cool you thank the one who created the beauty surrounding you!
Great video and much appreciated! I liked and subscribed.
Thank you so much for this New amazing vidéo. Fantastic trouts. You're the Best 👍👍🙏🙏
My dude with those red spots on the browns were ridiculous
Fortunately I retired at a very early age. I fish several days a week and I’m looking for wild trout in our state of Wv. It’s amazing how many creeks have wild trout. You just got to have the time and determination to explore. I do understand being a weekend warrior and you have to fish no matter the circumstances. Great video and fishing.
Hey shooter seeing how you in wv and are retired. You need to come over to great Shenandoah Valley and fish the mossy creek for monster trout.
@@daveystone5194 I’d like to do that, sounds like a great fishing trip.
Ok. All beautiful fish, the first one was the prettiest one. But way to stick with a slow start and long stretches of slow fishing! But that was an awesome day of fishing which I would love to experience!!! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed!!
Nice haul
Nice fish man
Wow, gotta admit....it's understandable about catching the fish as long as it took...the water was pretty FAST for fly fishing....now most of the fly fishing I've seen has been in WAY slower water....BUT....the ones you caught? VER NICE, I mean....dude, the colors and everything? PROPS MAN, PROPS. Well done!😳👍 Thanks for makin this, looked like it was pretty chilly. Keep em comin bro...hope you warmed up after this. Peace ✌😎
Thanks John!! Glad you enjoyed the video
I know exactly what your saying,. All week it was pretty nice out but today it's Sunday we were suppose to go yesterday but a big storm decided to hit and now Sunday the winds are gusting to 40 mph and it's only 18 degrees out with highs in the 20's but tomorrow I have to work so today I'm going anyway. The fishing Gods can be cruel sometimes!
Thanks for the video I'm sitting here at 3:30 am watching your videos before it's time to go.
Yeah this weekend was particularly brutal! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
@@hardmanfishing Any time you have some of the best videos out there.
Thank you for all the information that you take the time to post.
Hello from Spain ☺
Released em. Good man.
Good job! Some nice browns! Also congrats on the growth and success of the channel. As a fellow youtuber I know it takes a lot of work. Tightlines!
Thank you!! It's definitely not easy that's for sure. Keep up the good work yourself and thanks for watching
Very nice, great vid like always. What kinda rod and setup were you using in this clip? I’v never really fished streamers for trout…
Cool video dude !
Thank you!
Amazing video bro, keep posting like this , you got it👍👍😅😅
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed
What state is this in? Love the footage man, beautiful fish! Keep at it.
Awesome Browns, you sure make it look so easy, awesome video work too you make it like we are there with you, if you don’t mine what states do mainly fish in.
I fish in WV, Md, NC, Ga most of the time. But soon you'll be seeing videos from Pa and TN
Awesome video, love your videos, one thing I love besides the amazing fish you catch is you are always exploring and going to new rivers for each video, keeps it very entertaining.
I’ve been recently looking into buying a better fly Rod for the upcoming season, I’m looking into a moonshine fly Rod 4 or 5wt for trout and small mouth, do you know much about them or have any friends that recommend them? Also looking into an orvis for my salmon fly Rod… anything you might recommend as well ?
I've never used moonshine rods but I've heard mixed reviews. I've used Remington, TFO, Thomas and Thomas, Renegade, etc. but never used orvis or moonshine.
Love the vid, what’s your streamer setup for these smaller streams?
Awesome fishing. That is a beautiful streamer, do you mind me asking what make/model it is. I would love to get my hands on that.
Beautiful video, a tip to help with your streamer fishing though is unless your fishing a jogging type streamer on a floating line close range don’t move the rod to animate the fly. Just give short sharp strips with your stripping hand while keeping the rod generally pointed at the fly. This also sets you up for a much better strip set which will lead to much better hook ups
I have to disagree with you. I don't like doing just strips, doesn't animate the streamer enough in my opinion. Introducing some slack (by bouncing the rod tip) in the line is what makes the streamer swim side to side. I also rarely miss fish even when I can't strip set.. I went 4 for 4 in this video. I'm not saying you're right or I'm right, I'm just saying there are different ways to do things.
@@hardmanfishing best thing about streamers is you can fish them about a dozen different ways!
You fishing with sinking lines? Love the vid, amazing fish!
I would like to know the state you were fishing in for this video...so beautiful. Thank you for letting us share the water with you! You are quite an amazing fly fishing aficionado...I have subscribed!
Looks like the Appalaichains likely anywhere from WV to NC/ TN
I really enjoy all of your videos. What set-up do you use (rod length, line weight and type etc ) do you typically use for fishing streamers on water like this and does it change much if you fish micro streamers on smaller creeks????
High water= best brown trout fishing
Awesome video as per usual!!🔥 those streamer eats are RIDICULOUS! What’s your streamer rod setup in terms of rod wt, length and line? Thanks for the amazing content boys🔥
Are you using a weighted line or weighted streamer? Any info on the setup would be great! Love the video
Weighted streamer, floating line
We got some really nice looking wild browns here In upstate ny as well
Never been! But I’ll make it up there eventually
Awesome fish 👍 - have you any pics of the streamers? Did you tie them yourself?
Nice video, nice trout, can you tell me what rod you use when using streamers? Thanks buddy. Tight lines from Scotland.
Haven’t seen you swinging those big streamers before. Can you describe the rig you were using? Great video, even when you were struggling for good footing!
Same rig I always use!! I just had on a slightly heavier streamer so I could get it down in the current.
Poster child for perseverance !!
Hi, nice video, what kind of rod do you use for the streamer ?
Nice fishing. Fun to watch. I just ask that you keep them in the water and minimize how much you touch them. It keeps the fish healthy for a sturdier population which is greatly needed.
they are not THAT sensitive
@@clammerify It can be damaging. They should be kept under water and touched as little as possible instead of constant posing with the fish. It's just a consideration every fisherperson should have for the fish. There are other conscientious fishing RUclipsrs that lead by this example so it can be done. :0)
What weight rod and reel you using?? I have been wanting to get into streamer fishing here in East Tennessee
Great fishing, Is there a reason you don’t use the current? To get above the run, throw across and let the streamer swing down across into the faster eddies? Love that water🤙
I do when it's warmer fairly often. But typically in smaller streams and rivers if you're standing above the trout they're going to know you're there. So that's why when you see me fish streamers I'm usually standing below them. Some exceptions being when the water is high (like in this video)
Awesome Vids may I ask what Your Rod & Reel rig consists of? Those Trout were laid up in that fast water May I ask the Trout are they stocked and hold overs and I'm wondering what state are ya fishing ? I'm a beginner of Fly Fishing I ask bc I'm thinking of hiking hard to find big fish but I don't know if it's worth it.
i am consistently amazed at how you keep the fish pinned. Whenever I try to use the rod tip to jig, it's hard for me to strip set. I end up ass setting kinda like you, but I lose a lot of fish. Any tips for how you get that hook to bite?
A lot of practice honestly. Moving the rod tip introduces slack which naturally makes it more difficult to land fish. But it works a lot better in my opinion. It took me a long time to get consistent with hook sets/landing big browns though
Hello just wondering if you're using sinking sink tip or floating line. How long is your leader and what size. Thank you for your time
He said a weighted fly and a floating line in a comment that somebody asked that.
Would like to see faster release for these fish, thanks for the video.
New to you videos. What state is this? What setup were you fishing? Rod/line? Looked heavy.
It’s all about huckin meat brotha
Amen
Whats your streamer setup?
Beautiful fish. We're you in Georgia again?
Nope..that's WV brown trout
Nope not Georgia.. but also not WV 😂
Okay. They were beautiful fish. I just knew the last video was the first of a series set in Georgia. I live in the Atlanta area and travel to North Georgia often. Thanks for all the great videos and keep fishing... tight lines.
I’m in Minneapolis Minnesota. Ya ever fished here? Know any good fly fishing spots here??
What fly rods do you use?
Renegade Fly rod!!
I read about a guy who caught a brown with only a couple of spots near its nose. I wonder why some are like that.
dont you have a closed season for brown trout in Scotland we have not allowed from sept till march for breeding ????
Nope no closed season in the US. Some streams have special regs but that's about it
Sinking line?
