A French man talking about League of Legends should be my Kryptonite but somehow it's one of the best DnD videos I've seen in a while. You basically answered the question I asked you a few months ago about making tactically challenging encounters. Amazing video as always.
Oui monsieur! My accent is all over the place because it was hammered into me from a young age by every English teacher I've ever had that if you had a French accent when speaking English it was because you didn't put any effort towards sounding good. I'll never forgive them, I feel like I've lost something precious xD
Hey man, don't worry about it. Everything you say is clear, that's all that matters. I took French immersion through school, and I don't think my French is anywhere near the level of your English 😂
This is so cooool!!! Not only you gave us incredible stat blocks, but you also explained the thought process and design choices behind them as tips for creating our own. Thanks a lot, really!
I love giving my monsters resitances and vulnaribilites. It makes them more "real" by showing the efects of the monsters body to the player, like slug-type monsters being resitant to bludgeoning but vulnarble to slashing.
More to come! I huh... Kind of stunlocked myself, I couldn't find a good angle for a dev log video about Flare Fall so I went "I should just add a couple features and polish things up maybe that'll give me something to talk about" and then I ended up accidentally working on it full time for 3 months. Oops.
@@Trekiros Hope you still do the Dev talk on FlareFall, the site and game are looking sick. Just don't lose power/. Keep going, we believe in you! :D **Also** I don't think you need to explain anything. You do release a lot of content for the community for free, and we appreciate it. You are awesome dude.
8:46 "and the PDF is in the video description" for FREE, people! I don't even play D&D, but I know that Trekiros is a great writer who never disappoints & Arcane is a greatsourceof inspiration! ...P.S., can we get some Pathfinder 2e stat blocks, too?
These statblocks are amazing and those alignments are hilarious! As a quick note: Caitlyn’s Charisma save just repeats her Charisma score and modifier instead of providing a single number for her save bonus.
An absolutely excellent video with amazing points. I would challenge you to make one extra section that puts these stat blocks into a Villain Party (similar to what they do in the 5e supplement "Flee, Mortals" by MCDM. I have not seen the show, but if there were 5 of these characters that could challenge a party of 5 PCs using these methods it would make a great encounter and a great recurring storyline for a higher level game...heck, I just might try to do that myself!
I AM MAKING A HOMEBREW FRELJORD CAMPAIGN AND THIS WAS THE GREATEST VIDEO RECOMMENDED TO ME. Please do all regions slowly and steadily. I would LOVE to watch those
How ive built stat blocks for boss encounters is literally just making a player character for instance, just tonight i had my players fight against a helmed horror now i could have used the stat block i already had available to me but weres the fun in that so i literally just made a warforge echo knight fighter (he was level 9 while my players were level 5) with great weapon master and 4 shadow mastiff minions (always remember the minions)
my checklist: 1.HP (How many smites/fireballs can my creature/BBEG survive) 2.unique trait ( how annoying or entertaining can I make this creature) 3.Spells can be half or even of the PCs 4. Reward / Plot hook 3.
I have turned them all into dnd characters playable rules as written as shorts here if you are interested. They all work rules as written as playable characters. Working on the entire league roster with the new 2024 rules.
I talked with my friend min\maxer and he killed Viktor in 1 turn(kinda). He just casted Feeblemind and IF lucky, Viktor is dead after? If we dont want him to be a mockery for the party lets just make him immune to spells.
i mean that is the strat ti "win" to kill him we use polymorph + divine word (or powerword kill but thats requires 9th level spellslot). Polymorph him into anything with less than 20 hp, and after that cleric who has 7th level spells uses divine word and kills him instantly because thats how this interaction works (we dont lower hp to 0, it just dies). So basically party with 13th level cleric and a character that has polymorph (which might just be the same cleric if it has it in subclass or a magic item) You probably would want to soften him up with something that lowers his saves or maybe divination wizard or silvery barbs or lore bard
Give him Counterspell or something, idk Arcane but this ascended magic demigod guy should have one. Or just one count of Flaw to negate it. (don't tell me to watch the show, my mind is too feeble to handle the tearfest I've heard of)
Generally, I do not design on a per stat block basis so much as a per encounter basis. A single monster just cannot challenge a party in d&d with a balanced combat, and they are not designed to. My checklist is does the encounter have a ticking clock, something the players lose if they cannot beat the clock, and something to push them into the next encounter. Ie, the encounter starts with the baddie pulling the alarm: reinforcements show up in d4 rounds and every d4 rounds they are in the room; they do not stop coming. Get about your business.

Having not ran it, I'm not confident enough to make supplements for it 😅
@@grinningbuck I was thinking of dropping one specific Arcane character into Golarion, maybe I should try statting him too?
The alignments are amazing.

Really inspirational. It opened my mind to what a monster can do. Thanks.
You could call it a glorious evo....*gets slapped in the face
Excellent video and reasearch! Good stuff. Well worth the wait. Also, looking forward Flare Fall!
i wonder when are you gonna stop making bangers, really cool video and i'm SO gonna use of them on my games
Oh my gosh these are all SO sosososo incredible??? You never miss, Trek! 🎉❤

You'll probably want to remove the buffers since they wouldn't be solo boss monsters anymore, but it could be fun
Those are great! I will definetly take inspiration from these for my campaign!
Love the video! And this show is amazing. In the PDF Sevica is missing AC.
Oops, always gotta have a typo/mistake in there or it's not a real trekiros supplement 😄
Amazing statblocks and very cool rationale for bringing them to the table. Checking the pdf, rictus's halberd has a range of 5 feet rather than 10.

Yes j'adore l'idée !
So the new statblocks still haven't their CR rating proimently visible at the top?
I wonder how you created these PDFs. Did you use Latex or Photoshop? Im really curious
I'm a dev, I used HTML and CSS 😅

I suddenly have a need to run an Eberron campaign to use some of those.
