    This is a detailed video where I first remove and then replace a broken Central Cross.
    It takes circa 120+ minutes all in (to the point you can fly again). I explain what tools and parts you need and then talk through step-by-step how to perform the removal and then the new part instal. Part 2 of 4.
    I created this video with the RUclips Video Editor ( / editor )

    Hi Richard. Great to see that you have successfully repaired your broken Central cross with glue and tie-wraps.
    To make it easier for people to see your video, why not use the RUclips feature where you 'Reply' and add a link to your RUclips video. That way the videos can cross link each other. It is an option at the bottom of the screen when you hit Reply..

    I don't even have a parrot 2.0, but watching you repair it was so interesting. great video!!!

  • @TomStrong

    ..and before you started the repair - all the electronics worked ok ?
    I can only suggest that you try to disconnect and re-connect the two cameras.
    The front ribbon cable camera and the downward facing tiny one. (both are attached to the foam body shell)

    I split the PCBs by unscrewing the two smalls screw on the small PCB. This made it much easier to get the tricky cable off and on.

  • @TomStrong
    @TomStrong  11 лет назад

    All I can suggest is that you 're-seat' all the connections to the motherboard. (Including the one under 'that' black connector...
    Odd that you have different voltages.
    You may also find the Parrot AR drone forum a good place for help from a wider audience.

    If it is just 2 of the 'feet' or 'legs' then I would first try to glue them and repair them.
    The only reason I replaced my Central Cross is because my Cross broke into two!
    (I always recommend a cheaper repair etc first!)

  • @TomStrong

    I always end up buying them through amazon or ebay.

    If you watch the whole set of videos (There are four parts) you will see that you must remove all the blades, props and motors. The cross piece comes with only the necessary wiring looms.
    (I also have a video that shows you what is in the bag from Parrot that shows you this exactly)

  • @TomStrong
    @TomStrong  11 лет назад

    Double check that you reconnected the Ultra Sound connectors to the Motherboard ok.
    I would disconnect - double check orientation and then re-connect to be sure.

  • @TomStrong
    @TomStrong  12 лет назад

    Ok - Before you took out the Central Cross - did you test to see what was still working ?
    IE - Did the Motors do their start up test (even with a broken Central Cross ??)

  • @TomStrong
    @TomStrong  11 лет назад

    You will be the first to find out if not !! ;) ;)
    As I recall 1 and 2 where to the front and 3 and 4 to the rear, so I am sure you got it right.

  • @paulvelez390
    @paulvelez390 11 лет назад

    Hey Tom. I didn't spot the arrow marking the front. However, I did see the numbers on the arms, and since the old cross brace had 1 and 2 toward the front, and 3 and 4 toward the back, that's how i fitted the new cross brace. Hope I'm right lol

  • @TomStrong
    @TomStrong  12 лет назад

    Ok - Thats good - then it is not the motors or the Main Motherboard.
    You need to look at unplugging and then re-plugging in all the connections to the main Motherboard again. They are very fine copper contact connections and they only need to be crossed in a slight way and it wont be happy. It is fiddly. (See 10:00 and onwards)

  • @TomStrong

    The new bottom base plate has a peal-able cover that then reveals the sticky side.
    I have a complete series of videos that shows every step in full detail. I think you will find them useful.

    ok,all fixed now.
    was a bent wire where the big plug in on the main board goes.
    very small,had to use magnifier to see.
    Thanks for the pointers.

  • @TomStrong
    @TomStrong  12 лет назад

    Ok - What you need to do is to double check that you have the right Propeller blade on the right Motor.
    It sound like you have them wrong and that you need to just take them all of and rotate them once round clockwise.
    My next Video in this series of repairs shows this in more detail.

    hi Tom I just wanted to say thanks for responding to me and I just wanted to know do you think they will be opening up parret stores in the near future, this way if I need a part or wanted to pay to get it fixed I don't have to wait a month and halo for eat her the part or my drone being repaired and sent back to me.

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  8 лет назад

      +John Wurst It is VERY unlucky that Parrot will open any stores. That is not their model of business.
      You are encouraged to make your own repairs. Parrot and other third parties sell all the necessary parts and you can buy these from Amazon / Ebay etc.
      People like me have made many videos to show other people new to the hobby what needs to be done.
      It will be far cheaper to perform your own repairs and you will learn so much! (I know I did)

    Hello, just had a little shunt and broke two of the feet! The central cross is fine so was trying to find replacement feet but without much joy so far. Do you have any idea if theyre available seperately or do Parrot prefer we buy the whole section?
    Many thanks,

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  9 лет назад

      smo341 I think your best bet is eBay. People sell on their damaged parts as well. Then you could look at stripping off just the feet. I do not know where you can buy just feet alone.

  • @hickorytaylor

    I bought an AR Drone 2.0 at an auction. It appeared to be brand new with no visible wear. Brought it home, charged it up, went through the start procedures, video feed worked, hit takeoff and nothing happened. Someone suggested I check the wiring to the central cross. Would a loose wire cause the motors to stay red?

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  9 лет назад

      william taylor certainly if it is not wired up correctly, it will not fly. But there are other reasons. Maybe the height sensors are blocked / damaged / faulty. (All on the bottom of the craft)
      I feel you need to disassemble it to check all the ZIF connections and cables are seated correctly. As you are getting lights to the motor controllers, I suspect it is something else right now.

    Tom, great series of videos and I used them to replace my central cross. My only issue is that upon starting it back up, the rear propellers appear to spin backwards and the drone flips over front rising and flipping over the rear. Any ideas? Thank you!

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  10 лет назад

      Glad you have found the series of four videos useful.
      Your symptom sounds like you have the wrong Propeller Blades on the wrong motors. They have corresponding letters on and if you rewatch that part of my video I do show you what to look out for and how I kept track of each one.

    • @TomStrong

  • @3li414
    @3li414 9 лет назад

    Hi, I have recently followed all of your instructions, this video and the mounting motors to the drone. So, I installed all of my motors back, I think its the wrong way but I cannot tell, but when I connect it to the battery they all just rotate once. And when I try to connect to it, It just doesn't show up on the network list. Is there way to tell which motor is which? Because if there is, I think that I would need to replace the motors again.

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  9 лет назад

      ***** Seperate issue if you can not see Drone on network. It is you Mobo and connections that you need to concentrate on first.
      The motors are all the same. It is the propellas that you have to assemble onto the right motor. (My central cross replacement series shows all of this)
      Good luck!

    • @3li414
      @3li414 9 лет назад

      Tom Strong Reviews So how can I fix that?

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  9 лет назад

      ***** I would double check if the Mobo is or is not making aMyFi signal or not. Have you other devices to check with ?
      Did you replace the mother board ?
      Double checked all your connections ??
      The fact your motors do a "start up" twitch is a good sign.

    • @3li414
      @3li414 9 лет назад

      Tom Strong Reviews I don't now how to check, I did not replace it, and I have double checked the connections.

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  9 лет назад

      ***** With a different Smartphone / laptop.
      (in case your normal one cannot see it for some odd reason)
      Need to be sure its a Mobo fault before replacing it (its expensive!)
      Once you checked with another Smart Phone / Laptop. Try the RESET button and then check for WiFi again.

    does anyone know what type of processor is used on the main-board? From the specs on the website it makes it sound as if the drone was using a TI OMAP processor (3530 or 3525), i just don't know which. Thanks in advance

    Can you replace individual arms? The wires on the end of one of mine broke and the whole motor assembly came off... It would be an easy fix but with the wire broken idk what to do

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  3 года назад

      Not that I can easily figure out. The wire is inside the arm strut. You would have to cut of the socket, re-wire, solder or somehow rewrite the sockets. doable, but fiddly.

    • @TomStrong
      @TomStrong  10 лет назад

      As you can see from this series - I just 'wedged' back in my broken plastic clips. I did not use / need glue etc.
      The problem with glue is not today but if you need to do this repair again.... tomorrow.
      If you are lucky the glue just 'holds' everything in place and if you need to remove these again you can get a 'glue remover'...
      I say - If it works and you are flying... Win!
