    Go back to stock with that awesome metallic green. Please don’t cut it up. No widebody! Those rear quarters can be straightened. Done right (stock) that car is worth a small fortune and the values seem to keep climbing. You have scored the find of a lifetime, my friend. Hell; the rear glass is probably worth the $500 you paid for the car. I find the older I get the more I am drawn to originality in cars. Great series. Thank you.

      Widebody is pretty original to porsche and these entry level 911's are pretty common here in Europe atleast, so i say go for the custom!

    • @PeterTripp01
      @PeterTripp01 4 года назад +7

      I agree. Dont rat rod it, or wide body convert it. Go with the original factory green paint. Keep it as close to 100% stock as possible. Go with weber carbs on the engine. Loose the cookie cutter wheels and get a set of Fuch windmill mags. If you do a decent restoration, you will have a 6-figure car. Amazing you got it for $500 from a scrap yard with most of the engine still with the car. The “value” in these early 911’s is as close to OEM as possible. Good luck.

      Jimmy Grant I checked out Porsche 911 motors on several sites and complete rebuilds ready to go can get up into the low 20k range. Clapped out motors needing rebuilt commonly go easily for 7-10k, which is what we’re looking at here. My point is, this car was a steal at $500 and even parted out would bring a boatload more than the entire purchase price.

    • @jimmygrant3212
      @jimmygrant3212 4 года назад +4

      KD410SE checking out random website asking prices are not actual selling prices. It’s a 2.7l not a very desirable engine.

    • @bluetickhound16
      @bluetickhound16 4 года назад +2

      Jimmy Grant well, yeah... I mean, if you can find a whole 911 for $500 you can damn sure find parts for one on the cheap too but normally, you’d pay a hell of a lot more than $500 for them which was the point I was making.

    Good to see you bagging and tagging! Floor pans and transmission tunnel replacements should be available aftermarket, You can paint both sides with high quality weld through primer and plug weld or stitch weld in the replacement panels. After you finish the welding grind back the welds, primer and seam seal the panels. The floors will be as good as new. you should pimer any bare metal after you finish blasting. It is in surprisingly good shape after you cleaned it up. Please forget about the rat rod look. You will be way happier with a full restoration, and the car will be worth way more to resell if you decide not to keep it. (i think you would be nuts to do all this work and not keep it! LOL!) My Porshe, after some engine and suspension mods, was was total blast to drive. The handling was amazing. I regret selling it but with children it just wasn't practical. You have an advantage, you can take your time restoring this car, and you have other cars to drive, and the place to keep them. As usual, wishing you all the best! Keep up the great work!

    As a person that has restored quite a few Porsches and many other older vehicles I can say this.
    Love the vids, excellent job. Anyone that goes all "You're doing it wrong!" needs to pipe down. The 911 is fargone enough where it would have been parted and now instead it has a fighting chance. Good on you. Get it driving and its been saved. :)

    Lapel mic is awesome. Get wireless when you get sick of the wires. Did not care for the clappy-bell music (rear seat cleanup) though. Great project, really enjoying it.

    Love how you are getting into this. You need a sense of humour on these projects mate thats a fact! You have been SO lucky with how the bolts have come out but then when I did a '56 Beetle every one of the body / Chassis bolts all came right out sweet as a nut and we use salt on our roads in Winter. German engineering or something. And nice touch with the zip bags. But you have cheated as you have the videos. People like me used to look at a box of bolts we stored 6 months previous and went WTF? Got to love cameras on phones these days
    That wiring looks pretty solid as well. Just a tip give the looms a quick wipe over, loop them up loosely and store them somewhere warm. When you come to finally clean and fit them they will be easier to work with.
    That floor looks worse than it is as it is basically flat and you have solid surrounding panels to work to. You did real well getting this car. Its a gem that just needs work.

    That metalwork doesn't really scare me as I have had to deal with much worse. Break each repair down into subsections and it really isn't that hard overall. Might be worth media blasting. Floor pans will be much easier once you get that body on a cart or rotisserie
