    I like the helio PTC heater and the fact that it provides a precise temperature is an added plus.

    Not going to lie, I just put this in my cart going "it doesn't have a lot of reviews but they're all mostly good ones. I'm not sure if I want to buy this or the Ink Bird". Clear to say I'm sold on this one now!

      I've used both and they all work just fine! I do like the build quality of the IM, especially the titanium sensor.

      Got this product new ... for some reason the heating element had scratches all over it and looked like a minuscule fracture...plugged it up put it in my tank and 4 hours later my wife woke me up and said my tank was "off" ...apperently this thing tripped and blew my outlets out and now im having to run extension cords from other rooms to keep my tank going...

    These heaters are more pricey than most heaters but so worth it considering the cost of all other equipment and livestock! i have gotten these for all of my tanks now, so worth it! I do think the tank size rating is a little high but then again i keep my house pretty warm :)

    I run the innovative marine group on Facebook. I’ve ran 2 of them on two different tanks and my current 100ext. By far the most precise heater on the market. And I’m not saying it because I run the group. 😂

    I’ve been using the Helios on my nano reef for several months, and it has been rock solid. My only complaint is how “chunky” the body of the controller is; it would be awesome if they could shrink it by about half.

      yeah, that would be nice for sure. I guess being a first generation thing, they'll probably make upgrades over time! I personally wish that you could use one of the outputs for a heater and the other for a fan, as it gets too warm where I live in the summer!

    How can you use 2 heaters with two different watts.. Eg.. 100 and 200 watts on one unit

    So here's a question, why don't heater manufactures use one of those solid state sensors instead of the bimetallic strips? Is it a matter of a $4 part is so much more expensive than a 13 cent part that it completely destroys the profit margin?

    • @matthewbrstv38
      @matthewbrstv38 Год назад

      that's a great question Mike, and I don't know the answer. Could it have something to do with the engineering side of things?

      @@matthewbrstv38 Could be, could also be there's a lot more "brains" in the head unit to make it work too, but ultimately I think it's a matter "cheaper to manufacturer means more products for us" as heater mfgs do not care about the long term success of their products or our tanks, as long as it lasts a bit longer than the warranty period is really only they care about.

    Very cool system. This far into the hobby there is little excuse for tanks to get cooked.

    • @insanity4224
      @insanity4224 Год назад

      @@quadlawnmowerman you can change the temp to whatever you want, and you can change he over temp alarm to whatever you want. Same as other controllers.. but the helio gives you peace e of mind that if it runs dry it won’t cook. Personally I use inkbird and have the sensor in a part of my sump that can’t drain.
