Thank you for sharing your tips on pruning! I never knew sweet peas, comos, geraniums and zinnias should be pruned. I have kept my geraniums over winter indoors, and have just pruned them back! I love your propagation methods for all your plants. Seeds from zinnia blossoms have really saved me money over the years! We live in Wisconsin and the winters are so long and the growing season is short. Starting seeds in March/April really helps get the little seedlings ready for May!
    Your gardens are gorgeous!!!!

Hi Kim, thank you for the great video! I live in Central Alabama and the weather here has been so crazy lately. Is it too late to start over on my flowers? Between these squirrels and the weather I'm afraid there won't be enough time to enjoy the beauty of all my flowers. I didn't know about pinching back so my babies are struggling until I can get them outside, thank you for that awesome tip! Have a blessed day!

Hi Donna, we reached out to Kim and she said: "Late plantings of bedding plants still have time to produce. Summer bulbs started in containers may still be planted."
Central Alabama can be zone 7 or 8, you can go here to enter your zip code and find your planting zone: www.kellogggarden.com/blog/growing/how-to-find-your-planting-zone/
Knowing your zone will help you strategically plan out your garden. We have some planting charts that may help you with your timing here: www.kellogggarden.com/flower-planting-charts-by-zone/
Now that we have had said all that, just remember the fun of gardening is the experimentation it offers and though documentation may say you can't grow something in your zone or you need to start your plants at a certain time each zone has microclimates that can change our planting plan. If you are unsure of whether a plant can survive sun or heat, having it in a container will allow you to move it to a shadier part of your property or inside. You can also use shade cloth to protect a plant as well.
