    On my recent trip to Arctic Tundra I forgot thin gloves and thought I should be ok with Mitts only ! When I took the mitts off to record stuff using phone my fingers froze within seconds with severe pins and needle like pains and I had to be rushed to the exhaust of the snowmobile to warm up my hand. The gloves part is very important here!

    Your videos are excellent. Always so thorough & clear explanations. So interesting.....you even held the attention of my cat. Lol. I'm sure your expeditions are great fun. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Pat. Great video! Can you advise if a permit is currently needed for Elbrus? Im planning a solo climb this summer but conflicting information on a number of websites. Thanks!

      Hi Kieran, you will need an invitation and a voucher for Russia before you submit it for a visa. There are lots of bureaucracy attached to paperwork in going down there easiest thing is to give me a call on my mobile and I'll go through it with you. +353 87 2540204 or connect through Whats App or facebook phone apps. I would suggest having someone do the logistics for you. I've been going there since 1995 and never have had a problem. But you have to be careful. Pat

    Great video. The only thing I’ve been getting mixed information on is the safety of the Elbrus region. Do you have any insight on if it’s safe to go for UK citizens?

      Take a look at the link below. There are no restrictions, and I have been going there for the last 20 years, and to date have found no problem. Give me a call on my mobile +353 87 2540204 if you require further clarification. Link for advice for UK citizens www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/russia/safety-and-security . Best time for climbing is July. you will need a visa so give yourself 3 weeks as you also need an invitation. We can organise all of that if you wish. Great climb in a beautiful place. Pat

      @strongtour8212 6 лет назад +1

      Near Elbrus there are several places with equipment and clothing rental, inexpensive :)
      for example, boots $ 8 per day, ice ax $ 2.5 per day
