I think the character of Matthew was outstanding! He literally portrayed a transformation from despised as a tax collector to someone accepted by Jesus!
And totally different in person than he actually is in character. He does a phenomenal job, doesn’t he?

Matthew, my favourite character...I can't accurately word my emotions/feelings.
A man without pretence/guile, critical yet curious, childlike but discerning ....
he helped me to see my own frailties, limitations, shortcomings, unrealised vacuum in my soul only Christ could/can fill and I began to see myself as a tax collector type too & even worse - a well qualified wretched sinner in desperate need of the Saviour's mercy.
Oh, and his angelic face....his face, the puzzle he wore sometimes...
And when he sat on the ground to share his meal with his dog as his only companion who did not despise & reject him, I broke down to pieces in tears...I cried and just saw myself in that character. So many memories came back in waves - gratitude to God mixed with sorrow/pain... yet thankful to the Lord.
My hope, my only hope was in the Saviour's infinite mercy. By God's grace, I had to search & "strive to find that "small gate" to see/find/meet the Saviour but all along, He already saw me (us) & in His time, the Father drew me (us) to Him, His Son, Jesus Christ for eternal life.
How can I thank the Lord enough? I don't know. But I am eternally grateful and thank Him for more testimonies of His saving grace already abounding in many lives, not only my family but everyone who has seen and will see & hear about, the Chosen.
I think The Lord is speaking through THE CHOSEN to many people in many ways.
Matthew, that character, his innocent & genuine looking face, never bores me...I googled the actor and I hope I will make it my ambition to pray for him and the others by God's grace.

All of the acting has its own style and super professional style of each characters. I cried the first episode of season 1. I feel my spirit hungry of knowing about Jesus and his 12 disciple.
Having read the Bible every day for over thirty years, their portrayals are so successful, I feel like I'm watching old (young) friends.
5 years clean and sober by the Grace of God completely clean completely different person full of the holy spirit God still answers prayer today free from death and into a new life with jesus who is the God of all Grace hallelujah to that amen to that thank you so much for your Grace and mercy amen to that thank you amen

Despite they can’t find all the clues about their characters, the actors are doing great filling the lack of knowledge about their roles, being such well directed. I can’t wait to watch Season 2. 😉
They did a really stellar job of bringing these characters to life and adding nuance. Besides Scripture of course, they aren't at a complete loss since there is a wealth of texture in the hagiographies (lives of the saints).
What Paras did with his role! I fell in love with him when he made his first appearance. I didn't even know why! Maybe it was the depth of his eyes. The roll was so unusual. Yet he played it so authentically. It is so refreshing to see a series without a lot of blond characters. All the men are just gorgeous, but not a Hollywood gorgeous, a natural handsomeness inside and out in so many unique versions. Casting has been brilliant!

Matthews eyes are mesmerizing. I think we all fell in love with his character simply because we've all experienced bullying and hate ofsome sort but you can see the kindness and vulnerability in his expression

Wow! What Noah said was spot on and it is what usually brings us to Christ. Nothing else that we have tried has worked and we are desperate. When Jesus meets us where we are, we are out of ego and we have nothing left. Then we are eager to follow Him. As Christians, we have to be reminded not to rely on our own strength and get back to relying on the Lord, too.
I just love Andrew. Noah has really made Andrew come alive!

Matthew is my FAVORITE character. Prior to this show I read Matthew with not much connection. I can’t wait to go back and read it understanding Matthew and his logical and rational mind. The humility that all of you are showing to make these characters comes alive makes them so much more human. God bless you guys and being obedient to the vision the Spirit has given you.

I'll be interested to see how they handle the disciples hiding out, afraid for their lives, then their renewed energy after seeing Jesus resurrected.
That would be interesting! I would love to see them go a bit into Acts. I would love to see how they do the Pentecost when the Holy Spirit comes into the disciples.
@@MysticOceanDollies I was just thinking about it today. Since the dhow is called the Chosen, I think it's obvious they should go into the Acts. As in, the focal points are Apostles, so they should explore how Jesus has affected them later on.

OMG I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this series! It’s the BEST depiction of the bible and bible characters that I’ve EVER seen! I loved the actor who plays Matthew and the actor who plays Nicodemus! I also text friends and told them to watch the series, and will be texting more friends about it. The way this series portrays the background stories to the Biblical accounts are amazing! I really hope we can see a sympathetic Judas. If we understand his human downfall and not just his “bad guy” persona, it will make his betrayal twice as heartbreaking
If you've ever heard of the 'Forgotten Carols' by Michael McLean, this is exactly what Michael does. He portrays, for example, the inn keeper who turned Mary and Joseph away and how he felt later. It's an amazing play that I play as a tradition during the holidays. That's why I love the "Chosen" I think we are going to see an amazing creation that might help us better understand some of these characters in the bible and some of the biggest mistakes and betrayals recorded in history... that even some of us can relate to!
I just finished watching season 2 yesterday, and meeting Judas broke my heart knowing that he will become one of history's villains and kill himself. I appreciate that the writers bring such love and sincerity to the characters.
I love the Apostles! They are some of my favorite Saints. Ordinary, humble men that Jesus chose who would end up being great and giving their lives for Him. All the holy Apostles, pray for us!
Absolutely nobody is a ‘saint’. It’s an invention by the R. C. church. They call Thomas More ‘saint’! Yet in his house away from that loving very learned family we all know about, he had and USED instruments of torture without compunction or compassion.

Hi chosen around the table. Honestly this show has a spirit in it that I have not seen or felt in many other Jesus shows. You are all great to me, your portrayal of these men and woman are right on in my book. I know there are people out here who question some of the things you do, but these were real people with real lives, real struggles, and real pain just like us. And I feel that the way you expand on their characters and lives is very real right on. Dallas the spirit is with you and guiding, you are totally surrendered. That is why the show is blessed and making such a huge impact in people's lives, on the world. I felt a strong spirit around the table with you all, God does his work through anyone he chooses and he accomplishes what he wants to happen, and it's with you all. I was so excited inside and I was drawn into your conversation. God's spirit is most definitely with you all in this. You've all been chosen and there is much more to come. May God continue to bless you.

Episode 3 was my favorite because of the slow pace, relaxed, getting to really see Jesus interact. I love character development. Hope there is another like that in season 2!
It’s nice to see the personalities of Jesus’s disciples .... it’s so humbling. Can’t wait for the new season to start.
I have never even thought of anything particular about the disciples except Simon and John. Though, Matthew have written one Gospel, he had not highlighted anything about himself except his calling. What you have done through chosen is thaught provoking. So far we were seeing the entire picture as a history happened 2000 years back but now as Jesus Christ is portrayed from the perspective of people around Him, it made ourselves to feel one among them. I was not able to remember the name of all 12 disciples but now I personally know about 7 + 1 including Thomas as I remember one of my friend.. Life of Jesus Christ is beyond History and The Chosen nailed it.

I agree that being able to flesh out a character, especially one like Zebedee or Thaddeus who were briefly mentioned in the Bible, is a great opportunity to really connect with these Apostles and helps bring the Scriptures to Life!
I also love learning more about the Apostles who wrote the books in the Bible and shared in depth the messages and Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is crucial to remember our saints were really human, just like us. We are all saints in the making! Thank you for portraying them this way.
I've truly enjoyed watching the first season of The Chosen and as a religious ed teacher I wanted my Jr High students to watch this wonderful series. Since lockdown has kept us from meeting in person it has become more difficult to get the kids engaged. They don't want to spend even more time sitting in front of a computer like they do for their school classes. I don't like being limited in how I present the teachings of the Church especially because I'm not tech savvy.
Thank God my pastor approved and my kids can watch the weekly assigned episode on their own time and be ready have a virtual group discussion at the next meeting. It has helped them (and me!) to delve deeper into scripture and get a better understanding of the time and places that Jesus and the disciples walked the earth.

There are very few ensemble casts I’ve ever witnessed who portray their characters as well as these men do. That, to me, is part of the ‘life’ inside the programs. It allows one to become immersed in the lives of all of them; as if you’re getting to observe friend’s lives when you aren’t physically there.

What a coalition of brilliant actors! Each brings a unique characterization out of their own unique selves. To work with Dallas who gives the freedom to allow the character to develop must be a joy for the actors. This is why, no doubt, The Chosen is so terrific! So happy filming Season Two is soon to begin -- can't wait! I wonder if there will be a Season One and Season Two package?

I think the best word I can use to describe how the characters of "The Chosen" work through their roles, and their character development: AUTHENTIC. The feeling of authenticity that we, the end viewer feel while watching this series is just off the charts. As Dallas said, the characters are not treated as stoic "statues" being preserved. They are real people figuring things out. Love what you guys are doing with this project. I, like many others, can't wait for season 2. 😎👍💖💟😇🙏

Little touches. Such h as when Jesus heals Peter’s mother-in-law, who is on death’s door, And she suddenly WAKES as if from a nap, leaps to her feet and starts busying around like the woman of the house, as if nothing had happened. It gladdens the heart because this is how miracles happen. Sudden transformation. I wept as if I were there.

I think the world needed this series. An it came in just at the right time, my experience was a real spiritual awakening, every episode was a step closer an closer to God! Really enjoyed the characters of jesus disciples they'll played their part so good... Mathew was my favorite tho!!! You can see how jesus heart was bursting with love an enjoyed each an everyone of them ! Best movie ever!

Dear Chosen team, you have forever spoilt me. Watching other Jesus films, I find myself thinking "this is all wrong" The Chosen is different, and we have gotten used to different. Love the story and the inspired way you portray everyone. So powerful and uplifting. Love the background for all and the way all viewers find themselves needing this Saviour, this Jesus.

Great performance by all the actors in Chosen. We can see the hand of God and His anointing upon this. In my opinion 'Chosen' touched a great number of people across the world and for me the Good News of Jesus Christ came alive through this. I agree - We cannot relate to "stone statues". It's nicer to have confirmation that Jesus and His apostles were real people like us who cried, got mad, got scared, laughed out loud, hugged one another. I really love all of you guys for helping bring alive the Gospels. I can't wait to see season 2 - but since I don't have a smart phone or cable - I wouldn't mind purchasing DVDs of season 2 for myself and sister/bro-in-law. One thing i absolutely love about The Chosen is how everyone seems to find a bit of themselves in the characters. As someone who suffers from Aspergers Syndrome, i completely relate to Matthew. He has things that he is completely brillant at and aspects of life that he wrestles with as i do. We are both very analytical, think logically and are both a bit obsessive when it comes to certain things. He struggles socializing with others and people do not understand him because he is different, until he meets someone who does, Jesus. I was the same way too until i gave my heart and life to Jesus. Now i do not worry about people understanding me because i know that God does and that i can come to him in prayer with anything that is on my heart. Say strong and of good courage my friends for our King is coming. God Bless.

Thank you so very much for this wonderful series. It is by far the best and most moving telling of Jesus’ story I’ve ever seen. However,
I do have one very sincere concern. The music at the end of episode 8 as He and the disciples begin the public mission is incongruous and really shattering.
I heard you describe the spontaneous creation of the music and know how proud you are of your efforts. But I found that as the episode and scene drew to a close, I felt the joy and the hopes of generations of the Jewish people (who had been in a doctrinal and dogmatic cage) in being free for their souls to soar into personal communion with God without the rigid rules and politics of sectarianism and the Temple. It brought me to tears, just think about it!
Then Simon and the other disciples expressed their own liberation from the need to be secretive and be able to shout to the world that the Messiah had really and truly come. But instead of a soaring hope-filled, joyous closing theme there was a sort of “bad-boy” combative vibe.
You all have been through so much and worked so hard I’m sorry to have any criticism but I’m humbly pleading with you to change this and be sensitive to the delicate web of spiritual thoughts, feelings, and communion you are facilitating between the viewers and the Lord.

I love this show, my favorite character is Matthew....and Simeon.....and Andrew, gosh I love all the characters. The entire crew are doing a great job. It's not every day you see a show that is so breath taking, Bible stories I've read over and over being dramatized in a way I can't describe, I just love this series.

Gospel John has always been my favorite one. And watching George portrayal of him is really cool. Enjoy watching how all the disciples interact with each other. Especially Simon and Matthew. I really believe that the LORD directed the director in the choosing of each actor, actress, bc yes each one brings his/her own person into the individual they're trying to portray, and it comes through exceptionally!! I really believe this is Y'shua's production, that He's the Director, and even Dallas is a player for the LORD. Every scene a tear jerker even after multiple viewings, shows the Spirit of God involvement, in my opinion. God bless you 🙏💗

What makes this show great, for me is a multitude of things, but having likable actors is one of my top reasons...aside from the obvious, being biblical accuracy.
Yes. It's hard to pick out just one "stand out" actor/character, each so different yet each so relatable, multi-layered. Each individual actor and his/her portrayal is a vital component to the whole. The casting was inspired. I hope cast & crew are aware of viewers' appreciation of their remarkable talent.

I am loving The Chosen. I have been blown away by the beautiful and respectful portrayal of Jesus and His disciples. I hope that more Christians will step forward and create TV shows and movies. Thank you for being the salt and the light.

I think seeing these actors in this roundtable discussion, helps the fans get to know the process of how these actors prepared for their respective roles. Each one of them gave what they have in their ability to perform such a difficult task as well as getting to know their character and bringing their acting ability to each episode is excellent. Love these discussions as we get to see the actors' perspective.

This is one of the best Bible series I have watched so far...very doctrinally sound and even the few add-ons...like how Thaddeus met Jesus in a more humblier circumstance😅 brings life to the show reminding the viewers that Jesus on earth was MAN...like us, and so were the disciples. Thumbs up to you Dallas and team. As I watched I got a thought that crossed my mind though, I hope the casts and crew have (or for some will have) a relationship with this Jesus that you guys have laboured to bring into our homescreens. You have brought such an awesome revelation of Jesus through this show and I hope you won't miss the very message you are bringing to us in the name of "this is just work". I would really love to meet you guys in heaven if not in this life🥰💞. Just saying!
