Mark actually finished the song shortly before Chester passed and obviously he wanted to wait a lil while before releasing it. The official video really hits hard when they show the empty mic stand.
That part of the video made the song much sadder than it needed to be. Very nice tribute though

I was never really into screaming but when I heard Chester do it, I could tell that he really wasn't like all the others I've heard
Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell’s deaths hit me super hard when they happened. Those were two people who’s music I literally grew up listening to and when they passed it felt like part of my childhood had died. It’s bittersweet hearing Chester again but at the same time it just reminds me that while he’s gone, he’s never really going to be gone, if that makes sense.
What should have been what never was became the end for both of us
This song and his re-recordings with his band Grey Daze were the last things he had recorded before he passed. Loved the reaction 🤘🏼

In fact he didn't re-record the vocal, they took them from the old recording and master it

I really like your reaction! And Chester together with Mark Morton, what a combination. Legendary musicians and it‘s like Chester would be still alive through his music and the message of the music. Happy to be alive while good music like this is still being played. Also the first and the Last song I Heard by Chester were metal songs (One step closer & this one) \m/
Check out the Hybrid Theory Demo‘s by Linkin Park, which they released because of the 20th anniversary of their debut album. I recommend their songs „And one“, „Part of me“, „Qwerty“ and „Carousel“. There are also alternative Versions of In the end and crawling which sound really cool in my opinion.

"Cross Off" has slick and well-placed lyrics. I think this song tells about the courage to step forward, no longer looking at the past and looking to the future.

as far as I am aware, this is at the very least, the last song that was recorded and released with Chester. as when it came out, this was the last song known.
first time here, cool reaction. I must say, as a big LP & LOG fan myself, this is one of my favorite songs I ever heard Chester sing. the only thing that saddens me about it is when it ends.

First off, friggin LOVE this song. So powerful, love that Chester was so into doing more heavy shit. Loved your reaction, also i understand why you had to use a lyric video but there were some wrong lyrics in that one. It said at one point "will you burn below the chase" which... I mean what? Lmao, whereas its actually "will you learn to love the taste." but overall it was okay just pointin it out. And i agree with you 100% about chesters screams - passionate and perfect performance. Lots of P's lol. He's one of the singers who just knew how to do it properly and yet he also made it sound just incredible.
The music of Linkin Park has somewhat saved my life when i was in a very dark place in my life so i will NEVER EVER forget how much they meant too me. When i heard the news of Chester's passing i was devastated and i cried for more then a week. That's why I love it how much is such a powerful thing that it can have such a massive impact on someone's life. Thank you thank you thank you Chester for being such a big part of my life you will NEVER be forgotten
From everything I’ve researched it is in fact the last song he was ever in studio for. Which like you said, moves the song into iconic status. How cool would it have been to hear him on more heavy tracks? Thanks for the reaction man. Much love 🤙🏼

Mark has such a unique sound in his playing and riffing, can definitely tell which riffs in Lamb of God are his

Yeah, song is a ripper. Mark Morton is just a legend and it’s cool to see him branch out on the record showing he capable of doing other styles.

You should check out the band VEXED. They released a couple singles (both bangers) last year and one is featuring CJ from Thy Art is Murder.

@wah linkin parks music is shitty. Nothing special about any of their riffs or boring ass mediocre drum parts either. Music for angry teenagers who don't want to do their homework and hate their parents. Deftones did that sound the right way and with talent.
I never got back into their music fully after Meteora. I liked their 2012 album too. But yeah, this is the most metal thing we'll ever get from. Chester and its sad he never got to do more.
