    77 to 80 watts is very disappointing, johnny. 10BB usually means more efficient, right? which would translate to better output so one would assume they'd be closer to their 100 watt spec. Everything about these panels is great, minus the actual output. Your harbor freight panels were in the freakin 90s and sometimes over 100. I'm not sure if maybe you needed to adjust the angle when testing since it looked like you had it sitting kinda high.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  Год назад +2

      Yea I understand the output doesn’t look like the best but sometimes hard to compare when you don’t have something else right next to it.
      I plan to do more panels together soon but with weather and very short days it’s a little tough. But the day I did do the test it was a little hazy out. And both combined in series was about 160 watts at about 95-100 degrees out.
      And the other day I just posted a video on temp differences. Same panels in same configuration putting out 185 watts at about 60-63 degrees.
      Both time the panels were over 1000m2.
      So 92 watts each on a color day.
      I will be doing a 100 watt panel shoot out pretty quick. But the panels will be kinda older and newer but nothing more then 1 year old.
      So will be interesting to see.

    • @welshe222
      @welshe222 Год назад +1

      @@johnnysweekends I think the main selling point is that if the boat for w/e reason is in extreme weather the panel should be able to handle it, including being under water, which would make recovering the panel worth it, which in itself isnt bad, but i agree, the application is there but i think most panels resist water well enough to fit this category :)

      I’ll make a video on series and parallel and show a difference

    • @natehowe7975
      @natehowe7975 Год назад +1

      Series is pretty easy to set up with panels. MC4 connectors have a male or female shape that connect. Consider your panels from first to last in the series. A wire from one connects to a wire on the next. What remains is one positive and one negative from either end of the series. That is what is then feeding power into your solar controller. A benefit of series is you don’t need any other adapters. Series will sum up the volts but not the amps, so if your solar controller has a high specification for volts but a low specification for amps, this is the best way to set up. One problem is shade on one of your panels. The whole series will be slowed by even one underperforming panel. With parallel, you will need some adapters to send all your positives through one path and all your negatives through another. The amps get summed up, but this time not the volts. You would want to check your specifications on the charge controller to see the allowed volts and amps. We are trying to get the most efficiency from our panels by sending power into the controller in a manner that makes the most power without exceeding specifications. Parallel will allow one panel to be in shade while the others still perform. I have found with Ecoflow power generators in particular that they are optimized for series connection if their panels, so just connect all the positives and negatives together and use the remaining positive from one end and negative from the other.

    I just bought eight of these during the Amazon and eBay sale to charge my Delta pro. I also have the 400 W portable panel from EcoFlow. Given the max volts is 150 for the Delta Pro, is it reasonable to put four in series x2 and combine this with my 400 W panel (all 3 in parallel) for a total of 1200 W. Will I exceed the voltage max for the delta Pro?

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  Год назад +1

      You will have 4 panels at 80 volts roughly x2. Total of 80 volts but double amps after parallel.
      Add the portable at 48 volts and it will drop the whole system down to about 48 volts. Over all more amps and yes more power will go in but you are loosing potential power by maybe not hooking it up at all. Voltage is key to get the most out of the mppt
