      The price ended up being different than what they mentioned before I filmed... so a better value haha

      My one suggestion to STX that seems the best of all worlds is to do an additional plastic piece with nylon cover over the foams just on the backhand. Itll add protection, minimal weight, and preserve the fingers.

    I started skating out a couple years ago, bought just bargain ebay stuff to see if I liked it, these will go on the list for glove upgrades.

    Update for anyone wondering, bought them, been using them for a year, still in great shape, great protection.

    How is the foam attached? I know nothing about glove construction, but is there any concern about the padding coming off if it's just.... glued or whatever? Without a fabric covering stitched on it seems like they might have much lower durability.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 года назад +6

      The foam itself is all one piece but with cutouts. Then the base of the foam is sewn into the liner and around the glove itself like a traditional backhand of a glove.
      Only real durability concerns would be if the foam gets ripped and peels off, but they have been using this manufacturing and design in lacrosse for over a year and it seems like they never had issues there. Obviously there is the issue of skate blades but I a skate will cut nylon and foams out as well from a normal glove too.

    I just got my pair in the mail, I haven't had the chance to play with them yet but I tried them on and gripped a stick to see how they feel. So far I really like the way they feel, I wanted a glove with high dexterity and these are dominant in that category. Don't hate me for this but I've been using Mission 3 finger gloves for the last 12 years, I have a couple of the same pair that I've taken good care of and have replaced the palms when needed. I got so used to that style of glove the normal gloves just felt weird to me, I never liked that feeling of the padding rubbing between my pinky and ring finger. I figured I'd set a price around 100-120 to make sure I can get used to normal gloves before stepping up a tier. I was either going to get the Bauer vapor x2.9, the stallion hpr 2 or the halo's, STX just had a 50% off sale so I was able to get the halo's for $90. It's still really weird for me to feel my pinky and ring finger moving separately but I think I'm going to like them a lot. Also, I let STX know your review led me to buy them.

    Will you do best gear from 2021 next month?

    I brought these along with the Bauer Ultrasonics. If they fit more true to size I likely would've gone with these, but with small hands the 13' just wasn't as snug as I would like. Felt more connected and in control with the Ultrasonics compared to these. I will say, I did go to the store and tried these compared to the new Bauer Hyperlites and these are much better.

    Hey great review as always, thank you for doing these!
    I had two questions. First, did you eventually test with your 14” replica hand on these gloves and if so would you recommend a person with 14” hands getting the 13” glove? And second, would you be able to measure the height of the foam above the fingers?
    Any reply is greatly appreciated!

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 года назад

      I didn't check it with the 14" since using the bigger hand tells us what happens here already. I am generally speaking a 15" glove wearer, and I would go with a 14" for these.
      The height of the foam is about 1.5 CM

    Thanks for the review. Been looking out for this since your early teasers Just hit the Canadian site and all gloves are sold out. Will see how I can get one from the U.S.

      Unfortunately I don't believe they are available yet in Canada and were just posted on the site as a placeholder.

    Sick idea for a glove. Worried about all the individual pieces not being wrapped and stitched down. I feel like longevity won't be very good with these gloves. Looks like the blocks might start to rip, tear, and fall off.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 года назад +1

      STX has been using this style of glove for lacrosse for over a year and the gloves are evidently pretty popular. Obviously there is a difference with skate blades, but blades will cut nylon and foams apart anyways on traditional gloves as well.

    Hi Matt. I am new to hockey and looking for the most narrow/snug fitting gloves. Any suggestions?

      CCM Jetspeed or Bauer Supreme are the way to go for a snug fit.

    so close to being full stealth, black out that logo or make it the silver like Halo graphic. or just let me custom for 10 or 15 bucks

    I remember that you've been talking about the possibilities of exposed molded phones since the eflex 5 line launched, but I was really disappointed that you got such a bruise from that shot. Maybe the future is to use this tech in conjunction with something like a molded plastic, but to be honest it's hard to see the future being something like that. I don't skate out much anymore but I honestly don't think I'd value the comparative weight and flexibility of these. Protection is really the main thing I'd want from a hockey glove.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 года назад

      I didn't get a bruise from the puck though... it was just red from the impact spot and that would happen with any glove that doesn't have a shot blocker over the backhand.

    Im not blocking shots in mens league and if I get slashed the gloves are coming off anyways. I joke. The flexibility looks amazing on these. I haven’t been able to switch from gloves I got 10 years ago but they are falling apart.

    Hello my friend. Fits snug you say? I wear 13" Bauer X2.9 based on your previous review... I should purchase a 14" STX Halo? Problem - I''m in Canada. Solution? You tell me.... I'll buy you a coffee...
    Cheers

      They fit snug but fit 1/2 inch bigger? So I should stick with 13"?

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 года назад +1

      No, they are "snug" as in how tight the glove is. They fit about 1/2" bigger than Bauer Vapor retail gloves.
      No idea how to get them in Canada at the moment. Could reach out to them and see if you can place an order on the American site and pay extra shipping to Canada.

    • @byronbrown5838
      @byronbrown5838 2 года назад

      They dont make 12" so 13" will have to do. Maybe a hair loose but should be fine with easier flexibility and comfort

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 года назад +1

      If you can feel the ends of the fingers (including just brushing the ends) in the 13" when you are wearing them, than these in 13" will be probably good. If you have room in the finger tips in the 13" Bauer these will probably be a bit too long.
      But that is making the assumption that going down a size would be a similar change in lengths as Bauer does when going down a size.

    all fun and games until a slash comes right down on your finger and easily with so many gaps

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 года назад +4

      I see you missed the part where I called out how the larger number of finger pieces decreases the gap size and makes it harder to hit eh? If number of gaps was an issue every glove would be 1 piece fingers and not moving to 3 piece fingers.
