Aloha! I had never heard of Truett's Luau. The decorations and the menu are outstanding. The chips really do look so airy and delicious. Pineapple on a burger is delicious. We noticed the pineapple macadamia nut shake on the menu. We were curious about it, so glad you tried it. We definitely will try Truett's Luau if we are in the area. Mahola!
This was Truett Cathy's vision and at 92 year's old, he created the menu, decor, and design of this restaurant. You guys will not be disappointed if you try this place. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was so much fun.
The atmosphere was very tropical 🌴 and the food looked delicious. I agree that sauté vegetables should be a bit crispy but certainly not crunchy! Thought I would see coconut breaded shrimp or chicken tenders, perhaps a blue Hawaiian drink, free leis for the kiddos. Are they open on Sunday? Didn’t know that C.F. had branch eateries. Boys are still the best ❤!
That would have been a nice touch for them to have the coconut shrimp or a blue hawaiian drink. We wanted to also try their calamari but we just couldn't sample that much food. We also said the same thing about the leis - It's a very inexpensive item that would really enhance the experience for those not choosing the self-serve side of the restaurant. They're also closed on Sundays just like traditional CFAs. This restaurant was created by Truett Cathy when he was 92 years old - he created the menu, decor, and layout for the restaurant. This looks like a fun place to go! The waterfall was beautiful...and I was shocked to see the bee hives. That was a cool touch. Everything looked really good. Gentry is learning to operate that camera...and he did great!If you ever make it down to Savannah Ga. you need to try Paula Deene's origional restaraunt, The Bag Lady. You would love it. Her older son Jamie has just opened a small restaraunt in the back of The Bag Lady, facing the street behind. It's called the Chicken Box. Next time I am nearby I want to try it too. It has limited hours that are only around lunch. I've been watching RUclips video's of him making some of the things they serve and it looks wonderful. Hope ya'll are having a great weekend! We love Izzy’s Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World. We watched a documentary once where they said that he entered a recording studio at 2 or 3 in the morning and was given a 20 minute time frame before they locked up the studio. They said that he recorded the song in only one take and that’s the version that we all hear today. Such an amazing song.
