3.25 Frost Blades - Patch Notes TL;DR for Damage Math (New Guide Soon)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 сен 2024
- Some things I forgot to mention/calculate in the video:
Frost Blades(gem) is losing its added cold damage, so that's roughly ~15% less damage than I accounted for
Imperial Claw is getting +1% base crit, so this will make crit-capping more consistent and less reliant on using Brittle
ANOINT - These numbers were also done with a Panopticon anoint, so you can add in whatever the new best anoint choice will be, which will be another +~10% dps
RAGE - will be 30% MORE damage now, a huge new multiplier and probably mandatory
WAR BANNER will grant ~24% more melee PHYSICAL damage (4% with 500% effect = 4x6=24), which will be around ~10% more overall damage
GEM SLOTS - Totems gone = a minimum of 3 more gem slots to get things like Endurance charges or other QoL/Damage/Survivability
DEFENSES - Grace nerfed, base defences buffed, probably a wash for Evasion - Phys taken as was deleted, probably will work in Endurance charges instead
Thanks for watching!

Rage doesn't give attack speed now
Just wondering as you didn't show your claw, is it pure phys? Your frostblade guide pobs have flat cold damage instead of being a pure phys claw. With the change to quality and hatred, pure phys will be better and could completely make up for the added cold damage from frost blades and there won't an unaccounted 15% less damage.
@@snocone5721 Pure phys MIGHT be better - still need to PoB it. Stay tuned
@@ZishPOE is there a world where we would drop hatred and run a different dmg aura like anger with a crit multi watchers over the flat cold from hatred watchers? or is having the extra phys as cold and the flat cold on the watchers too important for other things in the build ?
Would a warden FB be good? Those 2 sec frosen seems really strong
The More melee damage banner on top of this will be nutty for boss dps
If I can remember to place it 😂
@@alilarhdiri9666 If you placed totems, then its the same :D
@@MARTiiiiNx7 True, also banners are invincible. But man, I always forget to place them
@@alilarhdiri9666 I hope I dont, didnt played melee for some years ^^
why did they scrap totems just to make banners behave the same...
I literally just checked if you had a new guide out after seeing the frostblade buffs haha, never played the builld, but I know you play it a lot and it looks very fun.
It is for sure a lot of fun. Can be very tanky.
@@circaen That's good to hear since I'm going HC for the first time this league
@@bobisacoolguy3631 I've been playing Zish's FB for the past 3 leagues, and it is only "tanky" with endgame gear. Its defensive layers are 100% spell suppression, 95%+ evasion, chill/freeze, blind and lastly headhunter. I wouldn't recommend it for HC at all. Its max HP hardly surpass 3.5k and you will need additional defensive layers to mitigate the rare physical dmg.
@@bastosdiegol Thanks for the warning, but I'll be trying to tweak the build when Zish releases his league start guide. Trickster got a ton of tankiness this league from escape artist becuase of the evasion rating change on items. I'm not sure what to go yet, but this is just another build to add to the list. I will take what you said in consideration though
@@bobisacoolguy3631 All good man. The build is amazing and fun. I just don't feel it's resilient enough to face HC. Otherwise, it's a blast.
Thank you for this explanation! It was very easy to understand and you seem very knowledgeable with this build. Keep it up man!
So excited to hear a new guide's coming :^) I was gonna try Frost Blades last league, until I barely played last league. Saw Frost Blades buffs, saw higher base armors making Trickster more fun. Rage change. Quality, etc. Figured 3.25 could be *the* time to try Frost Blades.
Already linked onto the curation. Yeah, I keep saying this to people, we lose a couple things but get so many more sources of damage compared to before
i think, like alot of people in this community are saying, the overall uptime of damage is going to be the game changer.
but we wont know till we get in there and start grindin :D
i will gladly sacrifice DPS for the lack of need to place sh*tty totems.
Was waiting for this. Thanks for crunching the numbers man!
Nice to note that the melee changes increase uptime and ease of damage as you get the innate damage without needing to juggle totems. So better mapping, even if boss DPS is similar.
Thought I’d try starting a glad this league, until I thought about what the changes would do to my favourite league starter of all time… a fifth time it is!
I think it’s almost a full year of me recommending your content both here and on reddit btw! Your guide style has really helped me up my PoE game ever since the very first FB guide you did!
Dude you are now in league starter guide in multiple top5 guys ! Congrats! I guess ill do a fb again warden version to change bit from .24-23-22
ZISH MY GUY!! I havent been here since Crucible, but I was here where you first started posting about your Frostblades guide. I am SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU NOW Chad-like Subscriber base!
I hope you remember me but if not thats cool youve been through a lot and I am so happy to see you still sticking to your guns. This really blows my mind and warms my heart to see how much youve grown. (I forgot what patch it was when they introduced the Returning Projectiles Passive in the Pathfinder Tree) I think it was crucible, but yeah buddy. I cant express how happy I am for you bro!
And if I do come back this new patch era - then you already know what I am rolling.
Thanks for the video.
I'm really looking forward to the start of the league, and I'll wait for your videos, it will be the first time I'm starting Frost Blades, and I hope to have fun.
I might be running this again, 4th league I’ve played I started this last league and loved it. Damage and slow is awesome I need to practice my bossing with it.
i came across this build on reddit and im really excited to dive into it this league thanks for the update!!
Looks very promising. I like frost blades playstyle but was hesitant about single target dmg, perhaps with number changes it won't be an issue anymore. Awaiting for guide!

"shouts 39 from the other room" haha cute/funny :D she is learning or bored, or both.
Thanks for sharing this. You probably just spared me hours of figuring this out.
Good maths. But were you factoring in the loss of flat added cold from Frost Blades gem as well? Looks like you only took it away from Hatred.
But what about the added more multiplier from weapon quality?
@@Valkaneer He factored that in, I'm pretty sure.
@@nairul44 i didn't see in 5:20
You have no idea how I was waiting for you 🎉 gg bro keep the good work
Hey Zish, love your content! Just wanted to throw out an idea, i wonder if going escape artist into soul drinker might be a bit better this time around instead of heartstopper / frenzy charge or action speed. With base evasion on chest being 20% more, could give basically 1-1.5k free E/S and the attack speed while leeching might make up for the loss of protector. Looking forward to what you cook up for 3.25!
Yes Soul Drinker is much more appealing now, if I went Trickster I would probably go for it
Zish, you best fb-bilder in RUclips. Thank you sou much
with 3 more gem slots and the comeback of dark marionette , we can run 1 more aura with guardian blessing too
Is that reliable tho?
Questionable, but worth looking at for sure.
You will also be able to spend the skill points previously spent on totems elsewhere, and use a different anoint in place of Panopticon.
I wasnt a fan of the clunky totem playstyle on FB anyway so hopefully it will feel better to play after these changes.
Can't recall any skill points that were spend in totems in FB builds. There's only 1 totem related cluster in that area and nobody in his mind spends points on it. Different annoint might be still net loss because Panopticon was crazy good number-wise, but uptime of totems was unpredictable.
The only totem points were on Ancestral Guidance medium clusters - those are gone now, of course. Extra points for different mediums or more good stuff on the tree.
love ur FB . ill waiting for u. GL !
i feel like this is a good thing even with the attack speed loss, because you just get bigger hits = better freezes/easier freezing.
I know you've warned against Southbound in previous guides because of the loss of +1 strike, and because herald of ice will often not be able to kill. But using Frost Blades of Katabasis adds a ground dot with a pretty impressive range, which would cover the downside of hits can only kill frozen enemies. Would you consider using Southbound before you have +2 strike gloves? Or even instead of +1 strike gloves during the first week of the league?
Thanks a lot for your detailed guides!
Probably not no, because you can also get Pierce from gloves too (implicit or craft), which is also important for the build. I would only (maybe) consider Southbound as a swap for doing Pinnacle bosses.
HH in melee phys build feels so nice, im kinda expecting a HH meta again
Wish you get more subs. You're top notch & appreciated everytime
Preesh
click options in pob and put a check in beta versions then you can update to 3.25 version
Played on affliction, excited for playing without totems and give the build another spin. Gonna aim to get a good leveling strat to start since I just don't enjoy the acts too much with it. Gonna be checking out all vids!
Hey zish! Very impotant thing is RETURNING PROJECTILES , we can add them from league mechanincs. :))))
Perhaps - FB proj don't shotgun though, and they also don't benefit from "Melee"-specific scaling like Ruthless - so I don't know if it will be worth it. Depends on what the other enchantments are, gotta wait and see!
Thx Zish, frost blade lovers never die
The most important thing is that you don't have to use the stupid totems. Beyond feeling like shit to use, those are so unreliable and inflate PoB to unrealistic levels imo, so I would be happy even getting a slight damage nerf if it meant not using those. But this is gonna be a crazy melee league, that is a long time coming. Crit bleed glad nightblade dual strike, slams, frost blades berserker, all sound very fun out of the shitton of things I'd like to play. Deciding is going to be the hardest part this league.
My math may be off....but is this video suggesting that 265% dmg is not Log2/1/4th x 12% to the 3rd with a minus Cosine for 4th gyatt?
we are also losing out on the insne gear we got from the graveyard lol
YES this is the video i was looking for
I'll do wait for your build content. I'm always resigning on every league,
but The one that I enjoyed much longer was FB build.
Man, was really hoping this would be WAY higher ... they made it sound like on avg all melee boosted 75%, but this is not that.
It'll probably still feel fine, but doesn't seem like melee is as super buffed as they made it out to be. Dropping the flat dmg value to then increased the effectiveness values feels like a bait and switch.
Keep in mind flat damage is best early, when you get minmaxed it should be better
also the actual skill gem got a buff probably around that 75% ish mark with losing the flat on gem and then getting the huge increase of the effectiveness but losing the cold dmg on hatred is a decent nerf to the build hence overall it isn't really a big buff but not sure if we could move away from hatred in to a different element or something or focus more phys we will have to wait and see
Maybe Warden may fits pretty well on FB build, huh? With Oath of Summer, Winter, Sp;ring and Avatar of the Wilds.... deserves a pob!
Attack speed , sustainability and survivability overall lower, imo.
It doesnt have any synergy and some stuff is conditional. The go to winner for warden is legit what they showcased, which was wild strike. That skill has the perfect home now, everything makes sense with the ascendancy.
@@GE_Photon_Lord Only 1 thing is sad. I saw some spreadsheet with overall dmg calculations and wild strike like +- same. So , i dunno about this skill, because as every other melee skill got its buff with dmg , wild strike didnt change.
@@ozbezarius922 I meant the thematic fits the ascendancy + the way her nodes work, they give maximum value for wild strike. But yeah , wild strike might still be mid even with this. Frost blades is still a +- the same, all they did to melee in general is just damage consistency.
@@GE_Photon_Lord Elemental hit is gonna be best in slot , in my opinion. The melee version mostly.
This league juicing content will be way much easier for melees, since you dont have to rely on totems that most of the time just fckn die instantly after being placed, so concistancy will be at its highest. Also early mapping will feel even better because of it
just something of note with something you said near the end, Rage no longer gives attack speed.
Did you think about maybe changing the claw into a dagger? The diference between these weapons is much more now, a dagger has way more crit and what dagger has to offer in general is more base phys. With the new hatred and new quality on weapons, I assume that the bonus phys is gonna weight more.
I was searching for daggers and ambusher has 1.5 atk speed which is not too far off from an imperial claw.
But im not sure, its just an idea. However, if you build it as a life based character, then life on hit is mandatory for sure. But for me, I was trying to make it es based with overleech, which might be a real thing now with perandus pact still alive (ofc, losing the whole timeless jewel which is lost damage).
A dagger version can definitely work. Claw LoH is very strong, and so is being able to double-dip on the Dagger Elusive wheel+Mastery for more polymath dmg and elusive effect. Claw also doesn't have too much trouble with crit-capping, especially since they buffed base crit this patch- I don't know that Dagger has enough upsides to out-weigh the strength of claws.
@@ZishPOE Yeah, I was thinking at some point, the dagger might have overkill crit so it loses value. But I was mostly looking at the base phys interactions with qual and hatred. But still, im not sure if its worth doing that instead of getting the 0.1 more atk speed which scales hard. Also yeah, the cheat with double dipping mastery is very strong indeed.
A lot of people have said it but Warden is completely cracked for any elemental attack build.
I was waiting for this
But in reality, DPS from 3.24 PoB is under many conditions (rage max, totems up, frost bomb,, etc). So for mapping, 3.25 seems like a huge buff.
But indeed for bossing, wait and see for tincture and other buffs.
Definitely true, mapping will feel better than ever this league.
Ruetoo doing some Frost Blades action too (Slayer), curious to know if any of you reached out to cook something, could be nice 🙂
I believe you missed changing the "increased" from quality to more, you stacked both in the calculations by just multiplying it by 1.2. You also forgot to account for the loss of flat cold on the gem.
Whoa bro we getting a gigantic buff????
It's more of a QoL + consistency/smoothness buff
Do you think we will have to roll a different weapon? I mean pure physical claw.
And also claws gain extra 1% base crit. Maybe able to cap crit without annoying boots ground.
Ultimately I think losing totems was a huge buff. Casting those is a huge pain. And we are pobing but on practise if the fight is hard and we can't status freez everything that totem buff is pretty much non existent.
@@Aquamaniac747 maybe not pure triple phys but double phys at least will be more important than ever yea
Thanks zish, Lord of the fb
I don't wanna be rude but if we have the same dmg as always that means Frost Blades are bad as always? I wanna play this because I love cold skills but compared to Hexblast Mines is so bad.
Ty for video!!
Is not Warden the way we should build frostblades now? Oath of summer is double scorch for up to -60% elemental resistances on hit, basically 60% more damage. Oath of Spring allows to build up to 50 stacks of shock, each stack of shock is going to increase damage taken by 2% for a total of 100%, the Taming is also going to increase the hit damage by at least 1000% because of these 50 stacks. Avatar of the wilds for 80% more elemental damage buff for 10 sec, with high APS and ailments per second up time should be very good. Defensively Oath of winter for perma freeze on maps or barskin to compensate determination and grace nerfs.
Yes I'm looking at Warden real closely atm. (Taming also is getting changed btw, it won't be 1000% dmg)
@@ZishPOE why not ? its 1000% damage increased, not taken by enemies or something. My guess is it is gonna be around 30-40% more dmg
I was also looking into warden a bit - if I understand well we kinda need to get all fire frost lightning points so there is no room for barkskin / tinctures points.
We get shocks from amulet, cold from skill/build and fire dmg from heatshiver so we tick all boxes.
It should be insane dmg wise. Btw the taming is getting adjusted so don’t dream of 1000% increased dmg.
The defenses are an issue. The only benefit is 2 sec freeze and plenty of dmg. Is that going to be enough ?
finally. ty so much for that
This doesn't look like a buff, unless you take into account that totems died and were clunky. Still, attack dmg lost is more than dmg, it's leech/life on hit too..
There some more potential dmg sources, as you said the weapon enchants are bonkers (there's a nimis one, one that is 'no phys dmg, has +100% ele dmg', one that's 'gain 30-50% wpn phys dmg as extra dmg of each element' which might not be that op).
There's also the neck annoints - we don't use panopticon and they have told there will be new better(?) annoints.
We also lose survivability with the phys dmg taken as. Are we forced to use progenesis or something now? We were pretty vulnerable to phys dmg in the first place.
Is warden a choice?
As for rage, there's a lot of thinking to be done, because standard rage generation is meh and it takes some time to reach to max rage.
Really looking forward for your next vid, I would even be open to another spec if this is not good enough
Overall we will be doing more damage than before this league because of the new power we're getting with runes, and 95% of that damage will be PERMANENTLY up instead of conditional. So mapping will feel extremely good, and when you get to a boss, BAM drop a War Banner and rinse them.
On minmaxed version, thats a true buff, but im still curious of how this build gona work in early stages cuz totems and flat was so important early on
I think it will feel just fine/the same as long as you have damage on your claw, which will scale much better now with the new effectiveness numbers.
i havn't played frost blade since my first League ever. Guess it's time to give it another shot :D LOGIN BOIS
the man is back! and fat as I haha, love seeing another vid from your channel :D
Weirdge
tinctures? so you think warden is the way to go over trickster?
So wait u fb guide🎉🎉🎉
Wait a second the new Frost blades, have their flat phys on the skill removed, i didnt saw u remove the flat cold only calc the new 400% or w/e effectifness of the dmg ? The old verson have flat cold that in the new patch is rmoved no? ( Frost Blades: No longer has Added Cold Damage at all gem levels.) i think i didnt saw u calculating or removing this dmg
yes i forgot, its in the pinned comment
@@ZishPOE oh sorry got it
yeah I will do trickester frenzy stacker melee
Good luck!
why new changes feels like we have to stack more phys dps more than cold damgage? or I misunderstand something
totems did not survive anyways so you're ACTUAL dps is higher,or for any build really
I've done 1 build per league, I've done frostblades, hexblast mines, boneshatter, splitting steel... 8 years ago I've done 3 leagues as righteous fire and one with frost blades... but in the end I always come back here to check and wish I haven't played another build :P also... saw the nimis enchantment craftable with runes, that could be insane with frostblades if you don't need the proj speed.
likely is a bow enchant only... but if its not, its nutty :D
Ok it look about the same dps with the new effectiveness, Soo add flat cold dmg to gloves or other sources can be good for increased the dps?
technically, the damage is ABSURDLY huge, because its no longer a "conditional" dps, but a 100% uptime dps in comparison
Yeah that is what I was thinking, also the replace or remove the totem cluster for the claw cluster in the tree for increased attack speed can be an option imo
Yeah, so overall what they did is to make the absurd damage from before consistent. But this build doesnt need any more damage, its just a matter of having uptime on that big number.
Any thoughts on going warden instead?
Have you looked at going Warden and what those nodes can do for FB?
Good job with the maths, but negative points for not using Google sheets or Excel. We love our spreadsheets
What about the Warden changes where they get more attack speed in the small nodes for the Ascendancy?
it's not a lot, and way less than the extra frenzy charges and action speed that trickster gets
Could the new ascendancy be an alternative with the freeze buffs?
Yes indeed - looking at it closely atm.
@@ZishPOE perma freeze incoming 😍
Hey, please checkout warden ascendancy too, its incredibly strong with shocks/freezes and scorches. We probably wont be needing yoke of suffering anymore or it might even multiply our damage even more?
Yep I'm lookin at it real closely :)
@@ZishPOE One more thing we need you to answer is, are tri elemental claws back with warden ascendancy? or we still go cold convert with hatred gone. If tri elements are back then do we bring back trinity which is a ballistic buff? or just 2 elements are fine with now converting phys to fire and cold instead with heatshiver and still make trinity work. Another thing i wanted to mention is if taming works crazily with the 50 shocks thingy on warden. That would be a insane increase in elemental damage right with 50 shocks?
nice new camera setup
How do you feel about the new warden elemental changes for Frost Blades as an alternative to Trickster. It seems like it can be crazy with the ascendency node + taming + yoke + rising tempest anoint
What does rising tempest do? I cant see it on the planner site.
the taming will be changed as per GGG on reddit to not grant 1000% extra dmg with the warden node. that would have never survived to live game i believe.
What do you think about defences? With all the changes, I have a feeling that SSFHC not really viable anymore.
I never recommended this build for HC, and even less so now
Zish Zish Zish, love u
YUHHH
Hey ill watch the other videos on thia, i have 2k overall in poe, but is thia going to be viable in ssf and are you dropping updated guide later on ?
yep, guide soon. SSF is fine
So everywhere I hear, it's a melee league, yet they all got nerfed..
with quality being multiplicative for phys damage on waepons, rage being multiplicative, hatred no longer giving flat but increasing phys as extra cold could you now do a full t1 phys/crit/flat cold claw with 20%+ phys>cold convert gloves, 40% phys>cold hatred watchers eye, 40% passive phys>cold and essentially converted 100% of the now multiplicative physical damage into cold then ramp that with heatshiver and basically do the whole pre-3.23 tornado shot dealio?
or am i absolutely cooked?
i don't have the brain power to maths this one in pob...
Yes pure phys will be stronger now, not sure if it's better than having Cold - need to PoB with new numbers. Also, FB gets 60% conversion on the gem so the 40% conversion on the tree is all you need - been doing 100% conversion for many leagues now :)
@@ZishPOE ah of course! i completely overlooked FB's inherent conversion... man im starting to get overwhelmed with all the info lol.
What you think about new Warden with frost blades? potential?
Nice comparison. But wouldnt it better to shift it to warden ascendancy?
perhaps.... :)
@@ZishPOE haha watch out new Guide incomming xD
Is that FB good for blight? Wanna try blight incoming league
Yes FB is good at Blight, especially with increased boss slow to 50% now.
Theres a new Weapon enchantment that gives 100% increased Ele Dmg but you deal no Phys Dmg. Would that work with the Cold conversion?
Not sure yet - maybe. We don't even know which enchants are available for which weapon types yet.
Is warden an option? the new frost ascendancy + shock one coupled with our high APS
Yep I'm going Warden - guide soon
warden over trickster?
Hey zish could you make a energy shield variant for this league?
I probably won't, sorry
@@ZishPOE oookaaaay :(
i wonder if taming+yoke warden will be huge
Taming will be changed to "per type of ailment" - and Yoke might not even be best with Oath of Spring, we have to wait and see - but Warden is huge damage for sure
Can we move away from trickster for something tankier this league or it's not worth the hassle?
You can if you want - whether it's "worth the hassle" is entirely subjective and up to you :) I'd probably just build a tankier Trickster if that's what I was going for rather than a different ascendancy.
Did'n they say that claws would have a boost on attack speed too?
No, just base crit - which is still very strong.
Melee totems are NOT a nerf, the insane increases to skill bases more than gives back what totems were giving.
The math might say otherwise, but it's pretty close either way. Losing the attack speed especially hurts - but now the damage won't be reliant on totems surviving, so it's big QoL regardless.
Wait, I thought banners don't do anything anymore, unless you plant it. Did I understand it wrong?
That's correct - War Banner grants 4% more melee phys damage with 10% effect per stack (50 stacks = 500% effect = 24% more)
@@ZishPOE okay... I'm looking forward to your updated PoB FB Trickster 🙂 I think it's going to be awesome! As far as the banner... It's like it has become like a replacement of the totem (using terms very loosely) to buff your output
@@harrynazarian3184 Sort of, its more of a DPS cooldown like Focus - it can't die like a totem can, so much better
Raider?
How is league start scenario dmg ? As they removed flat dmg ? What we gonna use as a act 1-10 ability ?
I don't think leveling will change much, if you have damage on your claw it will be scaled up way more than before so it will probably feel like a wash.
@@ZishPOE Glad to know that. Now the main question is , warden or trickster. This league gonna be wild with experimenting. Cant wait for it.
@@ozbezarius922 Cookin on that right now :) stay tuned
What should I farm with this build and what shouldn't I?
You can farm just about everything - you just won't be rushing Ubers or 100% Deli Juice in the first week
thoughts on warden frost blades?
might be good.... :)
Warden frostblades maybe?
PoB?
