    Thank you so much for your videos! I have decided that I want to start belly dancing for a few reasons. Mainly, it seems like a fun way to lose some weight. I am 480 lbs after losing 100 lbs in the past year with a low carb diet. I have alot of energy, and very strong legs, so this shimmy is very easy for me to do. I love that I can practice step 1 sitting down if I really need to, although I will also practice standing up, but I need to learn how to isolate my muscles. It's going to be a fun adventure!

    The movement from the knees is the action and what comes from the hips the reaction, we stan a queen with physics references

  • @darkantihue
    @darkantihue 5 лет назад +33

    Guys, the knee movement is exactly the same as when you're sitting on the floor. You just need to keep the knees loose when you're standing.

  • @helenai13
    @helenai13 4 года назад +24

    As already mentioned, it would be helpful if you showed the knees.

  • @positivelybeautiful1

    In all of the shimmy tutorials, you are the first one that I see instructing to practice on the floor. Great idea, and is very helpful! Thank you!

    How can we see the movement if you wear a long skirt.

  • @cathrinekatsigianni8823

    Pls don't mind me saying this, but can you do these movements or lessons rather in some short skirt or smthng like that? So that we can make out how the legs go for a particular movement. Thanks a lot!

      Hey! She said to keep your knees ‘neutral’. So, don’t lock them, but don’t go into a full bend either.

    I understood it better when you were sitting on the floor and demonstrating it. It'd have been better if you could've worn half pants or something similar, so that we could see properly how to do it while standing.
    Thanks for the video though. Will try it out.

    Oh my gosh!!
    I used to dance when I was a young woman, I tried so hard to do this movement for so long and I could never get my hips to do this. Now, I know why. I wasn't using my knees. I wish I had known about belly dancing classes back then. I just thought it was a trait, passed down from mother to daughter.
    Forgive me, I'm an old lady now, I didn't know you could take classes like this.
