Great video, very beautiful forest and trail. I bet you had a great time untill this accident. I'm sorry about that but it could have been a lot worse. The most important thing is that nothing happens to anyone and this is all part of off road.
The walk out and the hours it took to recover does make an ordeal - but the front bumper, passenger's side front fender and the hood took the damage to keep us from tumbling down the bank. Otherwise, this would have been a selvage rather then a recovery. Even Orie said his but cheeks were clenched on this one
@@onefastcyclist I believe it! Jenn did something similar on the rubicon trail. Took me two hours of stacking boulders to extend the road out 18" for about 15 feet🤣
@@jlopes68 OUCH - Manual labor like we were in CCC building trails - better left to the teenagers in the "greatest generation" nothing like rock crawling with a sore back 😂
@@onefastcyclist got me interested in poker flats and watching other vids, that spot has been an issue for some time now it appears. Sure looks sketchy. You guys have huge "cajones"!
@@jlopes68 Thanks John, "huge cajones"! perhaps blind tenacity with poor navigation. This is #7 in Fun Treks book- I wouldn't do the turn at way point 4, overgrown brush will require too much wet sanding for our taste. We took the trail for Chimney Rock west to jog from Saddleback road to 25. The decent into Porker Flat will be a work out for both your arms and suspension. Poker flat is a great campground with water. The trail N.E.out of the camp is rough but we found it very easy to get off the rout. A USGS map would make a great companion for this trail
Thanks - The map in Fun Treks is a little small and doesn't show all of the paths, but I was driving and my wife was navigating... This miss-hap was due to a wrong turn that should be avoided. A USGS map of this quadrant would be a good companion to have on this trail
Oh okay, gotcha. Ya I downloaded the map from their website too and have it on my Gaia gps so hopefully I don’t do the same thing. I’ve seen a couple videos where people have taken the same route as you.

Thank you - indeed the good news is that the tree stopped us from tumbling down the bank - the bad news is we hit the tree
I wonder how many horses were shot along that road back in the day over broken legs and ankles
Oh my! That was quite the ordeal! Glad you were recovered with only a broken tail light to show for it.

I also have the fun treks book and was looking at this. Is there a way to avoid this spot to get to La Porte? Looks crazy. Glad your ok.

One last question. Did the gnarly spot appear after you diverted trails or what waypoint did that come from?
I appreciate the help brotha.
