  • Just got the bike. Running a bit rich but almost dialed it. Suspension is stiff but I can tell it's going to be great after break-in.

So conflicted.. have an 08 yz125 right now and looking at the Ktm 250xc and this yz250x here. Ktms has a rebate for $1500 right now which makes them about the same price. My yz has been so good to me over the years but damn if the Ktm isn’t tempting at the same price

I've heard great things about the KTMs, and my main riding partner is on one. KTM is investing heavily to push 2-stroke tech forward, TBI, TPI, oil injection, etc. so I'm a supporter. Husky and Gas Gas are great bikes too. I'm just getting older and more nostalgic.... I like the simplicity of the carburetor.... Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance I guess :) All in I was $10,300 on the new YZ. I thought the KTM was closer to 15k out the door. If you're not nostalgic and on the fence I'd say maybe give the KTM a shot, if you're riding trails mostly... Everyone at Walker Valley ORV where I ride primarily is on a KTM. I just put the GYTR 8 oz flywheel on my bike and I'm going to make a video, because it should come stock that way. It's unreal how much quicker my bike felt with that additional engine momentum...

@@FindAnimalSasquatchChin you’re spot on with the simplicity of the yamaha lol. I just rode my buddies brand new 150xc-w today and wasn’t all that impressed with my 08 yz125 next to it performing better. But maybe that’s just the Ktm gearing for the xc bikes? I’m out in Colorado so elevation is always a factor. But I just got my bike out from being winterized today and it started second kick. They’re just so damn reliable. His bike has all these sensors and a cluster gauge and it scared me. I’m going with the yz250x

This bike is likely going to be my choice when I buy my next bike. Im currently riding a well loved 2005 YZ125 but the 250X seems to check so many boxes. Are you redoong your jetting to lean it put? My bike runs so rich and i replaced the jets with new stock jets cause i had no idea what the previous person had in place. Stock jets didnt help so i think ill do a JD jetting kit

Are you running 32:1? It'll be too rich if you run 40:1 with stock jets, IMHO.

      Best upgrade for the X
#1..get an Apex head kit , mid or high compression 91 octane, I run the SX...stock head has way to much squish area aand is h
      ard to tune ...
#2...use the Apex jetting chart, dont bother with a jd jet kit...

In the video I was trying out the 40:1 zeitgeist... but I've returned to 32:1 Yamaha 2R lube now.
