- The final stop on our 3rd China adventure drops us in Tashkurgan!
Tashkurgan, historically known as Sarikol and Shitoucheng, is a town in the far west of China, close to the country's border with Tajikistan. It is seat of Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County, in the autonomous region of Xinjiang.

It is widely accepted in China that the true Switzerland of China is Northwest Sichuan, aka Garze and Ngawa Tibetan autonomous reigions near Chengdu. Just google Jiuzhaigou valley (九寨沟), Huanglong (黄龙) and Mount Skubla (四姑娘山). These three places are truly the most beautiful places in China. You guys definitely should visit them in Autumn.

If Nepal is your next destination after visiting Pakistan, you can also get back to China there, Tibet is a tourist hotspot in summer because of the temperature.

新疆和内蒙古国道边的好多厕所都像这样，因为停下来上厕所的人不多，所以没有投资修建下水道，都是旱厕。我用过几次，冬天还好，温度只要在0℃以上，人只能在里面呆住一泡尿的时间，我真的被熏吐过一次。。。上过这种厕所，感觉猪圈都清香无比。最后，你们能不能别拿相机怼着拍😂，这些真的巨恶心，如果能打个码就好了。看到你们的拍摄画面后，我隐隐又闻到味了。。。
到西藏更可怕，但这都很正常，当地人的习俗可以理解！
找个小山头后面，去解决。

Call 110 for police and ask for English assistance if you encounter violent events. Police in China is in general pretty responsive, but in small cities language barrier can be a problem. Stay safe and happy travelling.

this is one of the most popular holiday destinations in china this summer. i did the trip only last month and i found the road was in excellent condition, lined with the most upmarket SUVs . your guys' experience with filthy toilets and run down cars was definitely not typical.

Talking about going to the bathroom in these places, my mother and I went to Xingjiang last year; she had to take a dump in the wild near the highway. I tried to cover her body with a small cloth. She said, 'screw it, just cover up my face!' 🤣

Why don't you visit the natural scenery of China? For example, Huangshan in Anhui Province, Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan Province, and Avatar Mountain in Hunan Province, you always go around the city.
We visited Dali, Guilin , Lijiang and Shangri-La and enjoyed the more natural parts there, we planned to visit the Avatar Mountains but ended up spending a full month in Yunnan instead

You also went to Shangri-La but did not go to its natural landscape prairie. You went to Xinjiang, but you only ate and drank in the city. The most famous natural scenery in Xinjiang is its prairie and endless desert.

Someone should send @daydaystudydaydayup's suggestion to the official travel bureau of China together with Alan's smelly youtube video for support and inspiration. If the idea can be put into practice in China to set an example for the world, it will be a new dawn for comfort in the history of travel to remote areas anywhere.

If you guys ever return to China you should totally pass by Nanjing and try their roast duck and duck blood soup. It's the duck capital of China :D. safe travels!

Be careful, certain places around that area outside China's borders may not be safe.
The problem is China-India border 90 percent is disputed. Not sure there is single point to enter from China to India is available

Sorry that the dirty toilets affected your travel experience. The Xinjiang local government should build some clean toilets, even though these remote areas have sparse populations. Without better facilities, how can Xinjiang upgrade to an international region?
