That Kathy fight was unironically a sick rival battle.
Indeed it was, good to see the protagonist came out on top, as close as it was
The brooding scheming rival and the thief turned hero cross weapons. And after a long brutal fight that forces both sides to use their strongest abilities, the thief turned hero, Kathy brought low her spiteful rival John. Truly the Final Gamer is unbeatable as she moves forward with her quest
Wow how does this amazing protagonist was able to defeat the loser Eyepatch Wolf Jim (I think that was his name or something like that but he just the worst. Also J*hn is a terrible name for this NPC) Anyway Hobocrawfish doesn't do good at playing Dokapon Kingdom because he is John and he shall always sux.
I, of course, can not speak for Kathy’s intellect, but the only logical reason she would surrender twice to level one enemies is because she couldn’t be hurt by darkling Steve when she’s recovering
i was about to say "the real meta move would have been to kill the ghast so that john would have been forced to attack darkling steve immediately before the darklingdom ended" except that it would've meant john could attack kathy instead, and she knew as well as we all do that john would never miss an opportunity to attack kathy. though it really does feel like john beating the ghast himself was only to his tactical advantage by accident, since he never said anything to indicate he figured out why kathy and gabrielle were giving up.

@@BloodBrandy oh no, he definitely chose the ghast over dark steve very deliberately and strategically, you know that because he talked up how brave and generous a choice it was. what i mean to say is i'm not toally sure he got why kathy and gabrielle gave up on that fight, but by the time it would've been relevant to him, it was no longer necessary,

That battle between Kathy and JOHN was insane. Insane Fan art potential.
We've now reached the transformation and rebirth part of Kathy's Hero's Journey. After her enemy-turned-lover Gabrielle became a darkling, Kathy swore to battle the demonic powers of Dokapon at all cost. She was gifted with divine powers that, while not strong enough to defeat a Darkling yet, was able to cast the evil out of Steve. We then see an amazing example of power scaling when Kathy confronts John again. While their fights before ended in a stalemate, we can see that her new powers make her strong enough to defeat her old rival. Now she must go on a journey to master her abilities to free Dokapon from evil. Though a hard road is still ahead, these seem to be the only major obstacles left for our hero to overcome.
That was some Goku vs Frieza shit where they kept revealing they weren't trying and had more left in the tank
John that title makes no sense,why and how would Kathy fight herself?

Let the record show that John shit talked the hell this game, backstabbed Steve, and decided in his hubris to fight Kathy and won 2 50% chances at Play Dead activating.....and still got mad humbled.

If Kathy didn't have that Revival potion, or if HoboCrawfish had M. Guarded that one time, or Striked at any moment, he would have probably wiped the floor with our protag.
But that's what's fun about this rivalry, isn't it? HoboCrawfish is, most of the time, the strongest player on the board, but his money management skills (as noticed in the last episode), map maneuvering abilities (which is not as predominant now, but will be relevant in the future), and overall lack of focus when it comes to the main quest completion (H.C. still has zero main quests completed) is what ironically holds H.C. back.
And Kathy is, naturally, better in all those three in comparison which, in turn, is what leads to the gap between them closing. If Kathy didn't play her game exceptionally, who can guarantee that she would be as resourceful as she constantly is shown to be?
I commented it on the Versus Wolves podcast video, but I really want John's wife to dress as Kathy on Halloween just to fuck with him.
He'd just be even more attracted to her. We all know he wants Kathy to step on him

So in terms of shipping and character sexuality: I feel like the ideal is Kathy and the Princess because Kathy is definitely going to win, I think Gabriel is probably bisexual because she’s in this race to win the kingdom and the Princess’ hand in marriage, but since she’s almost certain not going to win I imagine she would end up defaulting to Steve (so they both lose, but have each other), and the Villainous Hobo Crawfish dies alone and unloved.

Maybe it's just me, but it feels a bit weird that much of the specifics of how this series went/are going were spoiled in the followup podcast. Like why spoil the things that hadn't even been released yet? Worse than just talking about the spoilers, parts of the video were played on the podcast which felt pretty shit as an audio listener. I could deal with waiting to listen to the podcast until a final part comes out a day or two later, but multiple parts for like a week after the podcast? If the only things that were played on the podcast were parts that had been released by the time the podcast was set to release, that would be perfectly fine. Could still hint at what comes after even.
Maybe idk what I'm talking about and maybe there isn't a better solution, but if the only option going forward is to either wait to watch the series or wait to listen to the podcast, both options seem bad. Either way means you're getting spoiled, but having the podcast come out first is even worse. I'd feel way more invested in both watching the series AND still listening to the podcast if the timing was at least closer. When a decent sized portion of the podcast was just listening to woolie laughing at audio from unreleased parts, I care way less about watching those parts and woolie's reactions meant basically nothing as an audio listener.
I really hope the format between the videos and podcast improves. Just feelsbadman.
