It's not a bad choice for £5000 if you like that sort of Car. The T5 Engine is hard to beat.. But for £5000 a Civic Type R FN2 is also not a bad choice and K20's are also hard to beat, especially for adding boost to. Both reliable engines too.
Such great cars, I own a 2010 XR5 Turbo as they are called in Australia (ST225) and I absolutely love it. They aren’t the fastest cars out there, but they have so much character, front wheel drive, 5 cylinder turbo and a 6 speed manual, it really is unique 🚙💨
Ohh I thought people just called them XR5 to be cool. What was the thinking being as the 4 was a Sierra, 3 the escort for which the Focus replaced. Going to check out the badge :p
I love my mk3 st3. In panther black. About 282hp last thing i need is a decat. And intercooler and stage 2 map. Currently using dreamscience software stage 1. Got ram air intake and mountune parts.
In Spain, ST 225. I had an orange one and I did not like it because its consumption is excesive even though you drive it calm. Similar cars use less gasoline for the same. On the contrary, the best is its 5 cilinders' engine and its beautiful sound.
Sod having a generic VAG 4 pot, who cares if they’re a bit faster? My ST has 10x the character and plenty fast enough for me! Will be trading it in for something with a V8 soon!
impeccably tidy st, makes a nice change to see. very very clean. i have a 90s italian 20v 5 cylinder turbo stage 4 mapped by FC performance at 400whp but ive turned it down to 350whp on the apexi AVCR EBC. 350 is enough to get me 187mph weighing 1310kgs and at 400whp theres no safe headroom being on the limit of internals.
Had my Mk2.5 st pearl white 2 door for 5 years and it still is absolute joy to drive. Simple mods like stage 2 map, Quaife Diff, rs flyand clutch, poly torque mounts, bilstein b12 pro kit, big brembo brake and a good miltek exhuast have transformed it in to a very very capable car which regularly pushes alot more expensive/powerful cars. Oh good tyres too but expect to rip through them with the standard diff.
Yeah the mk2 at is such a monster I’ve got one in sea grey with stage 2 and it scares the life out of me and it is being shown at Santa pod in July and Silverstone in August
They are great cars, I owned one for 2 years , sold it at 170,000 miles. Sound great, lots of torque makes it fun to drive. However I would never daily one again, I never saw more than 17mpg avg on mine which is what you would expect from a V8 🤷♂️😂 for me 17mpg meant around £600.00 a month in fuel and the cars performance did not justify the high running cost! 🤷♂️ my brother had a 6.2 C63 at the time and even that managed 15mpg avg !
All the comments about you can get faster cars for the money ….. it’s not about what’s the fastest it’s about how they make you feel The noise of the 5 pot is incredible my personal choice is the mk5 Astra vxr which I’ve owned mine for the best part of 8 years 😅
@ARDEN440i I've had plenty of vauxhalls and have nothing against them, had a couple of astra gsi's with tuned z20's in and an astra vxr, my focus st is definitely a better drive and made alot more power for alot less money, has been more reliable too 👍
They drive incredibly well , the sound of a five pot, the old Ford feel of gauges, cheap mod and 265 bhp 325 lb ft. Comfortable, highly practical , huge boot probably better than 90 percent of Fords I have ever owned and I get 35 mpg using torque , you can trash it into 17 mpg but use your loaf .
I’ve had 37 mpg going to ford fest on long run .i average around 26 mpg though . Car has so much torque hardly needs gear change . Had mine 16 years has never broke down once .
bad suspension, worn out gearbox (mine has trouble going in reverse) oil problems and once you get one with +60k miles keep a grand ready for oil, fuel, airfilters and sparkplugs
Driveshafts too, just go easy on them with launches, I think older models can suffer from cracked liners, but a block mod will help that, biggest one of all FUEL but you aren't getting one of these for the economy 😆
Check the rear wiper , check the windows dont ratle when thhere open about 2inches. check the floor isnt wet behind the drivers seat. if its been mapped or you are planning on it , make sure it has had the block mod. mine didnt and she died at the weekend. finally plug an obd reader in. abs pump normally goes . esp light , dont be fooled into being told it is just a wheel sensor. hope you get a good one
do someone know if its posible to put this beauty of 5pot in to focus mk3? without major changes bc mk3 st go down to 4pot 2L engine that is not so beautiful
@LR180 Yeah these are lovely cars. Literally just travel 26 miles a day for work so don't need anything amazingly comfortable. Just want something still fun. Would mean I could really go for it with my i30n 😉
Great episode:) they are great cars And for the money superb You would not think they are 17yrs old And are only going up in value Look after this one :) Thank you
It’s not all about bhp figures have you felt the torque from these 5 cylinder focus st when they’re mapped? They feel much quicker then a mapped 2.0 tfsi / tsi
Are you serious, this Volvo engine is brutally durable and reliable, with enough funds and love, miracles can be done with it. The stock engine with 225 horses is practically eternal❤️
@@voxy8669 Let’s be honest anyone buying a car for 5k is not looking for speed they just want a comfy daily. I would rather get a 1 series or A3 over this
Definitely safer and feel more planted and far better interior and doesn't rust as much. But the Ford is the better beater is far lighter and cheap parts and that volvo engine is common. Every volvo from 95 to 2013 so parts are cheap and plentiful ford should have staid with this PowerPlant instead the 2.0 turbo
Ive owned my st225 2005 , unfortunately on Friday it dropped all its coolant. i fear the worst ive had it mapped but im sure it has never had the blockmod. o well.

yeah, wheel spin in second instead ;0)

Is it a 4wd now?

These are awesome. Problem is there are too many shitters which taint the scene a bit. Same with fiesta st180 which is also a great platform.

Love the sound of that 5 cylinder engine.
Owned an xr5 turbo(st225) in australia, fabulous cars and that 5pot sounds awesome
The way the 5 pot sounds in these is just immense allways loved the sound of these
When you accelerate it feels like you’re worlds in danger it’s that violent 😂
it has a lot of wheelspin, that's what you get on Uniroyal tyres.

You should review a Mazda Mps 3/Mazdaspeed 3 to see how it compares to the Gti and the St
I worked at a second car dealer. Drove all sorts of porches, big audi's, bmw's all of that. Most fun? Mk2 focus st!!!

Great video as always! I've followed you and grown my channel with you since you had 20k subs. Great job!👍👍
Got loads of them just got one with rs engine 3k
Is this the facelift diffuser fitted on the pre facelift model? Because this one looks larger then the pre facelift maxton diffuser?
The ST has always been alot of car for the cost, the mrk 2 was the best shape
That stupid red acrylic ruins the engine bay
Got 5 door one just like this they are great value very thirsty though,r26 megane have much better chassis but people want silly money for them now !
