It was midsize, the same as the upcoming Ford Edge. The Ford Escape was smaller than this, similar to the RAV4/CRV and the Explorer was bigger, similar to the Pilot/Highlander. They made this to compete with the small ones but offering more room like the big ones. All together aside from this and the Edge, there really weren't any other SUVs in this size segment.
Much better looking than its reliability would imply. :-/

Needs center touchscreen and configurable screen for the gadge cluster
Second Generation Equinox from 2010 got the Navi system the first generation did not.
Compact? They're on crack. This went head to head with the Honda pilot, Toyota highlander, and Ford explorer
