Once a year I come back to this video for the nostalgia. I used to listen to this in high school class instead of paying attention.
This is why the Aeollian mode is my favorite! Sounds so good when mixed with a pentatonic/blues. Instant 80's awesomeness!!!!

So what's the last 5 or 6 mean?
I can't imagine watching this if I were a beginner.... I've been at this for over 40 years now. I can see and feel what is being played... with my eyes closed.. . and for that I am thankful. I began to be able to do that long, long ago, but even moreso now... I could be walking down a busy street and hear an intervallic jump... and Ill want to go see where the sound is coming from... or someone in a store humming in a Harmonic minor mode... just blows me away... they are usually from another country... and they are just humming what is ingrained in their brain. The same with diminished or whole tone scales. You don't hear them often, but when you do, you almost stop in your tracks... like a pointer-dog looking for its prey. Dunno if anyone can relate... but it took years... and years... of "listening" and of course, playing. These younger guys today like Dave are all over the internet playing with such advanced feeling and regard to musicality. Back in "the day" we had Eddie Van Halen... maybe Frank Gambale in his early VHS days.... maybe "ten years after" .. point is; we didn't have what you guys have today with RUclips. Consider it a blessing to all aspiring guitarists to stumble upon something like this.

That gave me some serious chills. From the laid back beginning with the swells, to the build up and climax, this was incredible......and like the best music, it makes me want to plug in my guitar.
Listening to you play makes it so much easier to take what you teach to heart. I appreciate all the work you put in these videos. In this day and age we can learn from just about anybody in the world. You sir, while not my favorite guitarist, are my favorite to learn from. Thanks again.

the bends, the vibrato, simply every note u play has its own meaning and tells his own story, thats what makes this solo so special

wow i was sitting here on my computer going through some andy timmons stuff and decided to look up some other really emotional and totally underrated players! needless to say i listened to this and it seemed as if as if the world stopped for a few minutes to show us something truly amazing that put feeling and emotion back in are life.. thank you sir.. there are so many underrated musicians in this world.. hopefully this lets you know your appreciated.

You told a story and you told it well. High's, low's, in, out, up, down, there were even disappointments but you came back fighting with determination to transmit your emotions just like an adventurous journey and it was so convincing I traveled with you. To be able to move someone via vibrating strings and magical fingertips is a very special gift. Some people have the gift but lack the skills to convey it and vice versa. Some could have many takes at that and get it technically perfect but I prefer the raw emotion, warts and all. Thanks for that my friend.

There is NO part in any solo I ever heard that thrilled me more and expressed "pain as an emotion accepted by the heart" to me more than the part 3:40 - 4:00 , but especially the bend at 3:49 . As stupid as it sounds, to me I think this bend with this background was your musical masterpiece!
