I have been learning Chinese for 6 weeks. It helps a lot to know what the position of the tongue should be. Before I had the impression that the entire language was one big tongue twister. Single words were (roughly) doable, but full (longer) sentences made me feel like I was breaking my tongue or getting a knot in it. Chinese pronunciation is a real imposition, but I'll manage it. Thank you very much for your help.
The application may have gotten /ch/ and /q/ backwards. /ch/ is affricate while /q/ is plosive. However, concerning 康熙 organization, consonants have little strict distinction.
Great comment, if we just compare /ch/ and /q/, is exactly as what you said. In /chu/ and /qu/, /u/ is helping /ch/ 'pushing' the air flow more, while /ü/ is 'withdrawing' /q/, make it less plosive.
