Special News Report - The death of FCA's Hemi V8, is unfortunately right around the corner. Here's the lowdown on when the Hemi V8 will be cancelled and why.
Just took delivery of my 2017 Dodge Challenger R/T with the 5.7L HEMI. I'm so glad and proud to have one in my possession before the muscle car era disappears forever.
Better buy one, cuz all the mpg freaks are killing the game . I see more v6 muscle cars on the road than ever and its sad. So now you got companys talking about getting rid of hemi😩
Funny TBone funny. If the 55mpg CAFE standards take effect in 2025, FCA will have no choice but to take all Hemis offline. And several years before that so they can get more fuel-efficient engines online.
the emissions standards need to stop. cars burned clean enough in 03 we don't need to get anymore strengent. It's directly making cars get worse MPG and making them ever more expensive.
Steven Cash the EPA actually requires higher mpg. That's why you get a gas guzzles tax if your car doesent meet a certain mpg rating. Without restrictions on car companies, climate change would be that much more impactful. I say keep it up and maybe we can have a clean earth for once. The tragedy is it's going to be take a major crisis for people to realize it instead of starting now.
Actually, Ford continues to produce the 5.0 Coyote engine alongside their Ecoboost V-6's, I-4's, and I-3's, because, it's the main engine of choice for the Mustang, and F-150.
The late model Hemi's just don't have the same excitement the original ones had back in the 60's to 1970. Those days it was extremely rare to see one and when you did it was only in a sporty muscle car. When one of those drove into the local drive in restaurant where the gearheads hung out in those days it got everyone's attention and everyone had to go take a look at it. Now days they are a dime a dozen and come in all kind of Dodges. Nothing to get to excited about. The legend of it went away with the original muscle car era.
@1951RKP - The original HEMI's were rare indeed, and always drew a lot of attention. If memory serves me; the HEMI engine was approximately a $1000 premium on a car that sold for about $3000. Not many people could afford it but looking back is was probably one of the best muscle car bargains ever.
TT is going to save performance vehicles across the board, better mpg for regular driving, better power to weight ratio and the computers have virtually eliminated lag. There's nothing better than a big NA V8 climbing on it's cam but boost and performance hybrids aren't going anywhere.
I don't think the new ones are actually hemi's, if you look at the heads there isn't a hemispherical shape to the combustion chamber. We've been fooled!
Heavens to Murgatroyd - Congrats on being the only one besides me that knows that and made comment on it! The Hemi lovers won't admit that, but then again, most of them think Chrysler invented the Hemi, which they did not. The engine they pass off as a hemi today is really a Hemi-roid.
Kyle's FireArms Reviews / My tranny has never been rebuilt either, now my car is a Magnum, and you know that the Magnum tranny was not programmed right from the factory. I think about reprogramming it, but all my settings are factory!!!
Actually when the "Hemi" first appeared in 2003 in the Ram, it wasn't a "Hemi" at all. But Dodge, Chrysler, (and I guess now FCA) have a trademark on the name. So essentially, they can call any of their motors a "Hemi".
Plain and simple, anything that is placed in cars to reduce emissions and is "good for the environment" is bad for the consumer. No one says, I'm so glad this thing has cats, DEF, DPF, EGR, and two turbos. All of these things shorten the life of your engine and cost you more in the longrun. The EPA and CAFE are out of control.
What they really need to do for the trucks is to develop a modern I-6 (gas), not a V-6. Chevy should have used the Atlas I-6 as the base engine on full-size trucks instead of discontinuing it when they stopped making the Trailblazer(that was a shame) and Colorado.
That "hemi" stuff as far as im concerned don't necessarily mean jack. These aluminum heads are far and away different than old. The chambers are not hemi shaped they look like maxi pads. Quench same as any other. Still good heads but they cost $$. I've seen LS heads cammed up in the 700s locally cost cheaper perform same sometimes better most times. Big Chrysler sale pitch I say
Shawn C that is not true actually it's quite the opposite. Now china and other countries make parts for every car ever created. No longer are parts hard to come by. Those were the old days your talking about
Lots of people want them with V6 engines for daily driver and long trip cars. There are thousands of them out there. As long as they still have V8 options it doesn't hurt anything. Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Chargers, jeeps pickups and many other popular cars have offered 6 cylinder versions for years.
Nah...You'll see V8's in Ram trucks for years to come. The only other engine is the 3.6 gas, 3.0 diesel in the light duty trucks and the 6.7 diesel in the quarter and one ton trucks. For people that don't want diesel FCA will have to keep V8's around even if just for the trucks.
Oh man ! That would be sad. I bought my Charger RT 2016 six months back. Driving it purely stock at the moment and loving every bit. Going to install Mopar CAI in a month or so. Long Live the HEMI V8 !!
482lost wrong, the cafe standard is regulatory policy. Reglations are controled by the executive branch of government and can be change immediately by the President through the executive pen. The only thing that can be done is if someone challenges the change in which it will go to congress for an overturn decision. How do you think Net Neutrality ended. This is no different.
I love my Hemi Ram Express. 400hp 400tq ish. reg cab RWD. honestly it's more fun than most cars I've owned but don't know how it'll compared to my new Huracan since it's not delivered yet. guess I'll go buy a new Demon Hellcat before Hemi is no more.
Mr Ls7 go home you Chevy fanboy, the hemi is older, more iconic, and more powerful out of the factory, motor trend last year put a camaro Z28 against a hellcat, and surprise surprise...the hellcat won
I don't see the Hemi going away any time soon. GM, Ford and Chrysler will hold out for as long as possible, and do everything in their power to avoid being "that company". Nobody wants to hand over sales to the competition! Chrysler already made that mistake once! New technologies will be introduced to increase the gas mileage and reduce emissions, and the smaller cars will continue getting ever better MPG as well, which will bolster the CAFE for the companies. The ecodiesel rams are already pulling down 30+ on the highway with ease, and there is likely much more that can be unlocked with minor and cheap tuning and turbo boost tweaks. I can totally see a 40 MPG ecodiesel ram in thenext few years. The single biggest factor for the Hemi MPG isn't the engine... it's the barges it's installed in. High strength steel and aluminum will have to be used to get a Challenger from its current 4300lb weight down to around 3500. That will probably bump up the city MPG by at least 5. More aggressive MDS programming, aerodynamic tweaks, direct injection, advanced engine controls, or maybe even smaller displacement turbocharged engines with variable geometry turbos to keep low end torque at V8 levels. They will find a way. Everyone thought the muscle car era was over, and now we once again have them from all of the big 3, and they're vastly better than anything ever made in the '60s. Let's not forget we don't have a tree hugging democrat in the white house any more, and the EPA is already suffering as a result!
This is just stupid as the Hemi is what sells all those Challengers, and Chargers and half their Ram trucks. Without a suitable replacement they'd lose a good chunk of their sales and their performance image would suffer.
Hemi-V-8 Engine for Chrysler Corporation cars should debuted in 1949, not 1951. Same thing with power steering as of same year. But only for Chrysler New Yorker and Chrysler Imperial in which it has only a 8 cylinder engine. DeSoto, Dodge, and Plymouth only came with 6 cylinder engine until 1952 for DeSoto, 1953 Dodge, and 1955 Plymouth which debuted the new V-8 engine.
you could still have a v8 in the future. Downsize displacment and increase compression. We have the tech to make small engines to produce more power. why not apply the same principle in a v8 configeration?
you would say the same for the old 5.0 push rod as they replaced it with a 96 with the very same hp complete failure the 4.6 modular didn't got good into 03&04 Terminator and the so call 5.0 coyote is nothing more than a beef up 4.6
+Zach Henry Tesla's cost a lot. and batteries aren't any better for the environment than gas. The battery itself is fine, but the creation of it is no better than what comes out of gas cars as they drive down the road
Zach Henry a car that drives itself is exactly what I'm afraid of, I'll stick to internal combustion and no computer interference because my roadrunner runs 8's
True, and with the price of Tesla you can buy a brand new 6.2 Dually Denali with enough gas to take you from here.... to the moon is not that better than Tesla ?!!!!
Speed density fuel injection is why it's not state of the art. Everybody else is making better power with better gas mileage using more sophisticated MAF based fuel injection.
Craig Bomer everyone else is just lying about the mpg. Drive a ford you will see. My cummins gets better mileage than my mustang. My chevy gets 11 mpg. So like I said they lie
That seems a popular reply amongst the young; however, popular does not make it correct. California's ( and Obama's ) addiction to this ersatz idea of saving the planet through slightly lessened emissions is foolish. Be mindful, don't follow the crowd, do your own research. You will find modern pushrod engines extremely reliable, well-performing and thoroughly high-tech. Go see for yourself.
The final day of the Hemi V8 will be a sad day for the motor world. My 2004 Ram 1500 has the 5.7 Hemi and not only has it consistently delivered excellent reliability (having 264,000 miles on it and still going strong) but the performance to this day is still fantastic. It has just enough life left in it to fool me into thinking I'm behind the wheel of a performance car, and the sound is to die for. No twin turbo V6 will ever be able to replicate the distinct sound of a mighty V8, which is the sad yet inevitable truth. The Hemi will always have a special place in my heart
It is 2021 now and not only is the HEMI not going anywhere, but we have more versions of it than ever, and they are putting it in everything from Jeep Grand Cherokee a and Dodge Durangos, to Ram pickup trucks and Hellcat Challengers and chargers.
Specifically Obama and the DNC and the fake global warming agenda and the fake peak oil theory. Irony alert back when Obama was younger and getting started in politics guess what he drove? Yep a Chrysler 300 with guess what a Hemi....
Nope... Like I posted. Automakers have stockholders that want low cost investment with high return. The increase in mpg could easily be done. But people want cheap hp etc. This has always been a issue since the EPA started up the CAFE standards.
The reason why Mopar is popular among muscle car enthusiasts is simply because of the legendary Hemi engine. The engine is an icon. They can still make the engine, all they need to do is improve the emissions and fuel economy. Getting rid of the Hemi engine will make the Chrysler, Jeep, Ram, Dodge and especially SRT brand a joke.
I had a 190HP, 270 fpt Vette for a long time. Before that, I drove a 401 CI Nailhead, Buick Wildcat. (325 HP 445 Torque.) I would get another like it in a flash if I could. "Magic Carpet Ride" I wound up with a little four banger minivan for my family. Now we are talking! That '89 Chrysler Turbo Van would "BLOW THE DOORS OFF" my '73 Vette ( If I took out the back row seats to clean up.)
CJ Colvin oh yeah. angry. very angry. MOPAR has already suffered enough by having that pile of horseshit 3.6L v6 placed in their hoods. (while it is fun to humiliate non car people who have one in my 2010 HEMI)
Reaper_ Death *Fiat Holding inherited several Daimler engines.. not just the Daimler V-8 still sold under the old HEMI® trademark brand that was also purchased from Daimler-Benz*
+doctorbimmer - Are you an automotive publication writer or something? Is the current V8 with the "Hemi" designation a Daimler-Benz design? This could be good thing if true.
My wife has it in her van. It's a high-revving engine and very reliable. She's had no trouble with it in over 60k miles and I attribute that to regular service per manual.
Dodge has announced just not long ago that it's v8's are going nowhere. Gas is 2.19 a gallon and the v8 gets 25mpg. that would be kind of dumb to drop the Hemi now. With Trump in office, the American v8 won't be disappearing any time soon.
+FervantZebra *Sorry, but Chrysler Corp. did not sell a single car with a hemispherical combustion chambers after 1971... Please cite an example proving otherwise*
I am a proud owner of a 2011 RAM truck, i love the confort of the truck and the amazing torque of the hemi!!! Gentle but powerful, always ready and pulls crazy strong, not like my Astra h opc 2.0 turbo but for a natural aspirated engine is amazing. With a lpg system is also in europe really economic (our gasoline costs around 1.5 €/liter!!) And you can repair it at home with patient and good ability. God bless the Hemi and the USA for this incredible invention. Cheers from Italy
Edward James Bickels Yes, but Ford makes alot more regular common cars and a good chunk of their buyers dont look for performance. At Dodge, alot of them want big V8 muscle cars or trucks. Thats like half of their buyers!
that is so sad I love V8's not fair to discontinue them make the turbo charged, and the V8 and let the buyer decide not fair to satisfy the Hippies and democrats petrol heads and patriots are humans too, and they love their V8's just ..... live, and let V8's live
While we're at it lets go back to B&W non HD TV, AM Radio and Asbestos making it's way into 100s of products. Why?....because everything in the past was better?
Not where I’m at. 3 out of every 5 chargers and Challengers are Hemis. Mostly scat packs and hellcats and when it is a V6 it’s the all wheel drive GT version. Same with Mustangs and Camaros. More mid to higher tier V8 models than base 4 and 6 cylinder models. And I don’t live in a rich neighborhood either
v6 will never be the same as v8 yes the new bi turbo v6 designs are nice but rotating mass goes a long way in a pick up truck that is used for work we know a well maintained v8 can hit half a million miles regularly judgment is still out on the v6s long term durability .
AdussFadass wrong the 392 has a forged steel crank and sintered forged connecting rods. Only the pistons are cast.(hypereutectic) do homework before commenting...... Running 6lbs on my 392 and didn't even install the blower till 52k miles. Making 600 at the crank and will never have an issue with the stock pistons at 6lbs.
@Tim Link - The 426 was technically a true Hemi, and Chrysler supposedly lost money on every one they built - very expensive engine to make. The engines they're calling "Hemis" today are not true hemis but few know or even care. They are the ones that still believe Chrysler invented the Hemi, which they clearly did not.
saul alinski was a parasite like the rest of the social justice idiots expecting a participation trophy for just breathing. The merit based system has proven to be the greatest motivator and success the world has ever known. alinski was a punk that stole food from colleges and admired gangsters.
2014 Ram 1500 Lonestar 2wd w/ a limited slip rear end. Currently at around 180k miles. 3rd owner $26k: Hi. What's going on America. They fail to mention about the oiling problem and #8 rod failure the durability and longevity of the 5.9 LA and it was supposedly a replacement for the 8.0 V10 by selling 345 horsepower over the 300/310 that the 8.0 made what it liked also was the 450ft# of torque by the 8.0 in my book as 35 years as a mopar enthusiast and mechanic the only good that came out of the diamler venture was they brought back rear wheel drive
Chrysler was bringing back the rear drive car before Daimler came along....Look at the concepts in the 1990's,the 1999 300 HEMI Convert...The production Plymouth Prowler was rear drive and Viper before Daimler came in...Many other concepts were made before Daimler came in...
no complaints about my 5.7 Hemi and I hope this isn't true especially for the 6.4 Hemi because I'm planning on buying another new Charger but a 6.4 this time i owned two 5.7's already and never had any problems with them.. my 15 Charger R/T Road and Track with STP is a nice little torque monster especially for city driving, plus i have a 100k 5 year powertrain warranty that will probably last long after I sell it
You keep believing Trump is gonna do something for you. I got some Trump cookies I keep under my bed I'll sell you for 5K bucks a piece. You eat one I guarantee all your problems will go away.
****Correction***** The 5.7 liter Hemi was actually introduced in the late 2002 Ram 2500 pick ups. Then it was fully implemented in 2003 half ton 1500 models. I know this for a fact, because I was a Dodge new car salesman from 1998 to 2005.
Ford did not "replace" the Coyote V8 with its EcoBoost. They simply offer the EcoBoost as another option. The V8 is still by far and away Ford's most popular single engine offered in the F-150 trucks. If I know Ford, and if I know the fans, any amount of money will say that there will be a point where the F-150 is offered with an EcoBoost V8. It wouldn't be the craziest thing, I mean 2019 is supposed to see a hybrid F-150.
That's the whole point! When will FCA start taking quality and reliability seriously? Probably never! It would really be nice if these beautiful Mopars were also known for reliability. In our dreams...
There was something that I observed about Mopar, even before the Fiat buyout that was a source of great disappointment to me. The quality of Mopar products was poor even during the Mercedes-Benz era. Benz treated Mopar like it was that red headed stepchild at Christmas, just as the Italians have. It's almost as if the love affair between the Germans and Italians that existed before and during WW II is still maintained and Mopar, an American product is purposely meant to be left out in the cold. They'd prefer to lose money with the American labeled product than to incorporate up to date manufacturing facilities and technology in it. My gut feeling is that Chrysler products are going to be history before too long. The Ram truck line may survive for a while, but as for the cars, they're going to be gone. Whatever engines will be placed in the Rams is anybody's guess. The Cummins Diesel may survive, but gas engines will probably be some kind of pieced together imported Fiat junk. Pieced together so that it will pass US emissions regs. Then we're going to have Trump's import tariffs to deal with. God only knows what kind of effect that's going to have if the majority of the Chrysler vehicles contain mostly imported parts. It may be the death of Chrysler.
they already did kill the Hemi. they have a chevy based combustion chamber now bc EPA, CAFE et al are ruining the party, just like the early 70's all over. btw those shrinking compression heights on piston tops? definitely not good for longevity, which is key for controlling emissions. cars these days (like non-overabused mopars always have) are going a 1/4 mil. miles. well..were.
the hemi isn't going anywhere. it's all a pile of bs. tt v6 won't sell. I bought a hemi for the sound and the name. if they make a twin turbo v6 sales will drop no mater how much power they have. if that's the case I'll just keep my 2010 challenger rt classic triple black with 25000 miles till he body falls off
5.2 is a 318 and 5.9 is a 360 they are LA engines... The Magnum series were LA engines.. Get your facts straight... 318 cubic inch is a 5.2 L ..360 is a 5.9 L.. You are too funny....I am a Mopar guy, restore Mopars ..
Only if we could go back in time when gas prices where 0.89$.. but Idc I'm keeping my 5.7 ram ...btw where are the flying cars @ I thought everyone would be in hover mode right now lol😁☆
I think the Trump presidency will greatly diminish the EPA nonsensical policies and cut the bureaucracy size up to 3/4 because they are unnecessary, power hungry self-serving bureaucrats that have no constitutional authority to pass laws and regulations in the first place.
You cancel those Hemi motors and you might as well cancel the company.
Johnboy hopefully, who wants a foreign owned "American" brand that sold after the gov bailed them out, no thanks.
Your absolutly right
Great idea!
@John Johnson Chrysler doesn't exist anymore
They might as well put 4 turbo to the v(sick) 6 and HEMI doesn't even try to take on more attention
BornToBeFamed TTv6s don't belong in muscle cars...they belong in the rolling computer that the Japanese call the R35
V-6 was only rated 2mpg better than my 5.7 RT.....
That's 30 - 40 miles for the average tank. It adds up.
im sure us V8 guys are so worried about the mileage...
the v6 models are making the money
death of a Hemi? mister, you take your communism & get out
BreachingTBone 😂😂
Hemi died in 1971

No problem. The Saudis love Tillerson as SOC, him being an oil man. Which means the price of oil is going to go up.
lol Didn't you hear the news? Climate change is a hoax orchestrated by the Chinese. :)
I don't think you understand that clean burning is still CO2 emitting. That is our problem more so then the HCs and NOx
2019 ram still comes with hemi engine
Julio Portillo still doesn’t come with a good transmission or rear end also they still are big rot boxes 😂
Awesome 👍
Yeah, a fake hemi
@@mossow71 and Toyota, Chevys or Fords are any better?

1951RKP agreed, the badge doesnt carry the prestige it once did.
And the new generation gear head is about the rice burners with a leaf blower on it. Most of them don't know what real rat motor power is!
kenny fast prestige? Dodge has always been junk. They are better now than they have ever been. Lol. And that's not saying much.

a v6 work truck? That's just stupid. We are all supposed to buy diesel for hauling I suppose?
And now it's May of 2021 and the Hemi still lives and no reports of phasing them out.
who wants a dodge challenger or charger with a v6 is dodge crazy
If you thinks that bad just wait until 3 and 4 cylinders are the norm.

Thankfully President Trump has delayed the implementation of the stricter CAFE standards so the Hemi can stick around.
*Hemi died in 1971... Chrysler Corp. ceased to exist in 1999.*
Dodge main selling point is loud fast vehicles. That's what makes them sell. Slt, big turbo diesel, hemi, make it what it is.
Really the hemi will NOT die, not as the DOHC 4 valve head is around. It's in plenty of 4 cyl and v6 engines.
It already died... hemis are obsolete
Oh man ! That would be sad.
I bought my Charger RT 2016 six months back. Driving it purely stock at the moment and loving every bit. Going to install Mopar CAI in a month or so. Long Live the HEMI V8 !!
All auto companies lie on emissions test
As long as their selling I don't see an end.
They haven't been selling since 1971 when Chrysler stopped production.
The Hemi has been dead a long time! this engine was not a true Hemi, it was just the name, so for me, it was gone a long time ago.

The only thing that can be done is if someone challenges the change in which it will go to congress for an overturn decision. How do you think Net Neutrality ended. This is no different.
Not going to happen... Obama drives a dodge demon so kiss them goodbye
I love my Hemi Ram Express. 400hp 400tq ish. reg cab RWD. honestly it's more fun than most cars I've owned but don't know how it'll compared to my new Huracan since it's not delivered yet. guess I'll go buy a new Demon Hellcat before Hemi is no more.
dodge suck anyway get u a LS Chevy
Mr Ls7 No!!!...a 350
Mr ls can suck a big one
Hemi baby hemi take tht to the bank
Mr Ls7 go home you Chevy fanboy, the hemi is older, more iconic, and more powerful out of the factory, motor trend last year put a camaro Z28 against a hellcat, and surprise surprise...the hellcat won
Mr Ls7
Any mouth breather can run an LS! It takes a real gear head to run other motors.
My last car had a hemi. My car now has a hemi. Guess what,my next car will have a hemi. Im comin for the 6.4 L srt!!
*They don't make cars or trucks with hemi engines anymore.*
Relax. The hemi isn't going anywhere. Was just reintroduced for the 2019 ram
The Chrysler hemi has been dead since 1971
I don't see the Hemi going away any time soon.
This is a sad day, it reminds me of the K-car era with 2.2 liter turbos all bark and no bite.
Reminds me when Chrysler sold fake HEMI engines in the K-cars too.. plastic badges don't make it a hemi
This is just stupid as the Hemi is what sells all those Challengers, and Chargers and half their Ram trucks.
Without a suitable replacement they'd lose a good chunk of their sales and their performance image would suffer.
What's the point if the polar bears have been moving south and living more on the coast lines of the arctic, than the actual ice?
Guess I'm keeping my 5.7 for a while. IF they're gone some day, people are going to want mine.
And Ford had a V8 in 1932! All American competitors were sleeping at the switch.
A lot of the current 5.7 are having rocker and cam issues with them wearing out fast.
2009-2014 have that issue. 2015-current does not
Looks Like I will be keeping my 2015 Ram and my sweet Hemi for a while.
So basically we are going back to the k-car era. Turbos and Foreign power plants.
They been trying to kill theV8 for 30 plus years but why don't they have a V6 or 4 hemi?
Lots of companies still making V-8 engines, just not hemi engines anymore.
Another great video. Although it's a sad state of affairs for the hemi apparently
Indeed, this outdated design became obsolete in 1971
Because they don't last more than 150K? 30% more power but 50% less life!
What do you expect from a Fiat engine???
I am actually curious to see how they come up with the twin turbo V6 pentastar and how much horsepower it makes
you could still have a v8 in the future. Downsize displacment and increase compression. We have the tech to make small engines to produce more power. why not apply the same principle in a v8 configeration?
you would say the same for the old 5.0 push rod as they replaced it with a 96 with the very same hp complete failure the 4.6 modular didn't got good into 03&04 Terminator and the so call 5.0 coyote is nothing more than a beef up 4.6
hemi will never die as long as us gear heads are around
Nathan Webb valve seats fall off ..no Good.
Nathan Webb i hope they fix the problem. im tired of fixing this things 😖👍
True,
and with the price of Tesla
you can buy a brand new 6.2 Dually Denali with enough gas to take you from here.... to the moon
is not that better than Tesla ?!!!!
2019 and the 5.7 hemi is stronger than ever
MutationBuilder there gay and junk 5.0 coyote ftw
@John Johnson - Most of them still wear a mullet.
@mossow71 mustang owners are the masters of the gloryhole. They indiscriminately suck anything that comes popping through.
Tell that to my bad lifters and camshaft in my 5.7
Connected to my key chain us the key to a 2019 Dodge Challenger Scatpack.
Well 2019 and its still here sooooo
state of the art and pushrod dont go in the same sentence
samsquantch14: Corvettes use pushrod engines.
samsquantch14 Dodge's Viper V10 has always been a push rod engine and it has never used a distributor.
Tom Castaldi Amen brother same here Hemi power for life
Couldn't they meet emissions just by producing fewer engines? They don't have to stop all together
Mom
Too many issues but you are right. Nostalgia
It is 2021 now and not only is the HEMI not going anywhere, but we have more versions of it than ever, and they are putting it in everything from Jeep Grand Cherokee a and Dodge Durangos, to Ram pickup trucks and Hellcat Challengers and chargers.
You could thank the US government for this.
Yes you can thank our shadow government.
"Magic Carpet Ride"
I wound up with a little four banger minivan for my family.
Now we are talking!
That '89 Chrysler Turbo Van would "BLOW THE DOORS OFF" my '73 Vette
( If I took out the back row seats to clean up.)
This is going to make muscle car fans really angry.
Reaper_ Death the 3.6 is a great engine and it has its place
Hats1976 how about now that tim is moving on
You were horribly wrong thinking the Hemi is dead lol you fail. Still going strong and has a hybrid system on it, might as well take this video down
Has not been available since 1971... hemis are obsolete
+FervantZebra *Sorry, but Chrysler Corp. did not sell a single car with a hemispherical combustion chambers after 1971... Please cite an example proving otherwise*
+FervantZebra *The very last car sold in the US with a hemispherical engine was the Porsche 911 '993' in 1998.*
Hemi is a brand now. Not an engine type. Try again mr. Obsolete...
+R/T IN BLACK *The Chrysler hemispherical engines have been obsolete since 1971... they never came back.*
The way Republicans are changing environmental rules and laws at this point it's safe to say this V8 will be around for a bit longer than expected.
The V8 is never going to die.
I hope brother.
its both sides of the aisle doing it now.
I will forever keep my Ram truck with the 5.7 Liter engine. They can have those Tubo v-6 engines, I love my V-8.
Amen brother!
The hemi will never die. Good motors dont die. Great motors will be forever remembered. Long live the hemi.
Is Dodge stupid? You cant replace the Hemis with TT V6s... I have a slight feeling dodge will go broke
Mill Wurray Yea
Ford did it. They still make money
Edward James Bickels Yes, but Ford makes alot more regular common cars and a good chunk of their buyers dont look for performance.
At Dodge, alot of them want big V8 muscle cars or trucks. Thats like half of their buyers!
They arn't... This video is utter bull. They just doubled down on the Hellcat with the Demon. Dodge doesn't care about fuel efficiency.
SmittyWerbenjagermanjenson dodge is broke this is why they are now owned by fiat. its a sad day in america
I'm glad I bought a Challenger RT Shaker last Fall!!!!! I'm going to keep it for ever!
that is so sad
I love V8's
not fair to discontinue them
make the turbo charged, and the V8 and let the buyer decide
not fair to satisfy the Hippies and democrats
petrol heads and patriots are humans too, and they love their V8's
just ..... live, and let V8's live
If only we could have the car culture of the 50s and 60s again where V8s were the norm
While we're at it lets go back to B&W non HD TV, AM Radio and Asbestos making it's way into 100s of products. Why?....because everything in the past was better?
strtngfrsh Stfu that's not what he was saying. Get out just cos u hem and haw over modern cars
too bad greenhouse gasses are a thing
Not where I’m at. 3 out of every 5 chargers and Challengers are Hemis. Mostly scat packs and hellcats and when it is a V6 it’s the all wheel drive GT version.
Same with Mustangs and Camaros. More mid to higher tier V8 models than base 4 and 6 cylinder models. And I don’t live in a rich neighborhood either
No way you believe this is going to happen in a few years. If anything the engineers will have to work a bit harder to extract 20 city out of V8's.
It's true
2020 almost and it's still going strong! 5.7 hemi, ram1500.
He just wants everyone to go out and buy a hemi that's understandable
+ERNIE BRINK lies
*Chrysler hasn't made a hemi engine since 1971*
they still make hemi engines this video is fake
not everything on the internet is true
+Donovan Bryant *He is right though, Chrysler stopped making real hemi engines in 1971.*
Still aint dead yet baby long live the Hemi!!
I have a 215,000 dodge durango without a single problem! Love this engine!
Tom E
No water pump issues?
v6 will never be the same as v8 yes the new bi turbo v6 designs are nice but rotating mass goes a long way in a pick up truck that is used for work we know a well maintained v8 can hit half a million miles regularly judgment is still out on the v6s long term durability .
FYI all V8s is going away and replaced with V6 with turbos
The 392 HEMI is a much better motor.
chris chilson Maybe cause it cost way more. Not great for boost. No forged internals.
I'm from the future. I'm in 2023 and the Hemi is live and well. 👏🏽😎💯💪🏽😁
Trump will stop the regulations, Trump 2020.
I'd rather electric than a crappy TT V6
FloppyBit why not both ?
Yeah why would they follow ford path ,craptor v6 turbo.,people want v8s ,
This is all false but funny this guy is a joke
Josh Calbert Are you sure this ain't real?
Josh Calbert did he just say 5.7 has been in production since 2 decades?
warriorpluto OK good. I didn't think they were dumb enough to stop production, especially on the 700hp 6.2L V8.
Amen
warriorpluto They aren't killing the 300. A new straight 6 and new V-8's for 2021.
not with trump in the office, it's going nowhere these 8 years.
my thoughts exactly
you are 100% correct
+John Smith ..your a great American john. not
+John Smith .ok .where are you from and why do you hate America?
+John Smith ..why take it out on the citizenry.. the. mistakes of our government?
TRUMP just saved the HEMI.
1965ace And killed everything else. But fast cars and guns are all uneducated people care about.
Hyperbole, exaggeration, paranoia and fear. If you had a valuable education you wouldn't make such statements.
Too much Kool-Aid
thank god
saul alinski was a parasite like the rest of the social justice idiots expecting a participation trophy for just breathing. The merit based system has proven to be the greatest motivator and success the world has ever known. alinski was a punk that stole food from colleges and admired gangsters.

Chrysler was bringing back the rear drive car before Daimler came along....Look at the concepts in the 1990's,the 1999 300 HEMI Convert...The production Plymouth Prowler was rear drive and Viper before Daimler came in...Many other concepts were made before Daimler came in...
no complaints about my 5.7 Hemi and I hope this isn't true especially for the 6.4 Hemi because I'm planning on buying another new Charger but a 6.4 this time i owned two 5.7's already and never had any problems with them.. my 15 Charger R/T Road and Track with STP is a nice little torque monster especially for city driving, plus i have a 100k 5 year powertrain warranty that will probably last long after I sell it
WE NEED TRUMP TO SMASH THESE TREE HUGGING HIPPIES
We need big v8 s not tiny v6 or cylinder engines
*T R U M P S M A S H*
YES SMASH TRUMP, MUELLER.
You keep believing Trump is gonna do something for you. I got some Trump cookies I keep under my bed I'll sell you for 5K bucks a piece. You eat one I guarantee all your problems will go away.
The only engines we'll soon have will be 4 cylinder versions. I for one am disgusted by this.
****Correction*****
The 5.7 liter Hemi was actually introduced in the late 2002 Ram 2500 pick ups. Then it was fully implemented in 2003 half ton 1500 models.
I know this for a fact, because I was a Dodge new car salesman from 1998 to 2005.
State off the art pushrod 🤔 .... I do like the motors but that's am oxymoron
At least the scrap yards will have an abundance of the new Hemis for a while. Leave it to Fiat, (Fix-It-Again-Tony), to screw things up.
It may be the death of Chrysler.
they already did kill the Hemi. they have a chevy based combustion chamber now bc EPA, CAFE et al are ruining the party, just like the early 70's all over. btw those shrinking compression heights on piston tops? definitely not good for longevity, which is key for controlling emissions. cars these days (like non-overabused mopars always have) are going a 1/4 mil. miles. well..were.
Trump says he will relax the standards so Americans can buy what they want!
Right. If not other country is suffering, why should we?
He also said he knew the system better than anyone, which is why he alone can fix it. How's that turning out?
nicholascremato cuz he knows what he's doing lol
*Chinese auto maker "Great Wall" announced today it plans to buy FCA.*
doktorbimmer Marchionne said it won't happen anytime soon, and probably never will
the hemi isn't going anywhere. it's all a pile of bs. tt v6 won't sell. I bought a hemi for the sound and the name. if they make a twin turbo v6 sales will drop no mater how much power they have. if that's the case I'll just keep my 2010 challenger rt classic triple black with 25000 miles till he body falls off
The 5.7 HEMI's predecessor was not the LA Series 318/360cid engines, it was the Magnum 5.2/5.9L that were introduced in 1992. Get your facts straight.
01trsmar All the same engine block , 10hp difference.
Only if we could go back in time when gas prices where 0.89$.. but Idc I'm keeping my 5.7 ram ...btw where are the flying cars @ I thought everyone would be in hover mode right now lol😁☆
CAFE standards will be relaxed now that we have Trump.
Gilitar making driving great again
Trump is not going to be in the WH very much longer....being taken down by a porn-star
Guess what I just heard. Sounds like you may be right.
Too bad Trump can't bring back Chrysler...
doktorbimmer Trump is on his way out.
I think the Trump presidency will greatly diminish the EPA nonsensical policies and cut the bureaucracy size up to 3/4 because they are unnecessary, power hungry self-serving bureaucrats that have no constitutional authority to pass laws and regulations in the first place.
