I think we not able to be a Giphy artist 😭 see this 👇👇👇 Hi, Thanks for sharing and getting in touch. Our apologies, but our Creators program is limited at the moment and we won't be able to accept your application at this time. All the best! The GIPHY Team
Very clear and helpful video, thank you! Can I ask, do you get paid for the use of your gifs or do you just upload for fun and for the metrics and exposure?
Awesome Video! I'm not sure if you made one or not but, A video going into depth on the purpose of and how to create and use a " portfolio site " would be sweet! I've searched and there doesn't seem to be many videos on the topic especially not many that would be so cut and dry.
Hi Aron, please share your experience regarding views - how the views are adding up in the stats - does your gifs gets some promo at start of publishing and then views slows down or the opposite - views comes increasingly day after day and you keep getting more and more daily views on the older ones (when more people start to see and share/use your gifs)? Or maybe its totally random and unpredictable. Thanks a lot!
I don't know a whole lot about the views portion of GIPHY. I think it comes down to how relevant the search terms are. The patterns keep staying at the top for amount of views, but that could also be because the amount of views they received keep them at the top of the search. There was one that I did fairly recently that just says "Plant Care" and the search term it's most connected to is "Planting." They do breakdown the most relevant search term when a GIF moves to your top 20.
If you are creating an artist channel you can definitely upload your own animations. I've heard of GIPHY shutting down artist accounts, if you also add branded gifs. It's one of the reasons it's important not to add any GIFs from company's that you are working with to your personal artist channel.
My application is approve as a creator channel, but it saids, “to joining our verified artists directory, it is by invite only.” Anyone could help me with that please?
What if i have a ONE unique Gif like a rose etc. which I created and post it 5 times.. AND gifs about my fav. Couple tv show (I had to post it because nobodyy post something about them and I want to use them in social media apps :/..) Soo do u think I would still get accepted as an artist? (I have my own name and picture) or should I delete the couple tv show gifs?
I don't have any brand or portfolio plus I'm a teenager as usual i applied for verification but they declined soo i sent a Gmail to them with the proof of my content that I created the gifs i sent them the screenshot of cap cut because that's what I use to make gifs and i don't think so I'm ever gonna get verified well anyways thanks for the video it does help me to understand
It will affect your application, if you add them to your personal artist account. You'll want to have each musician create a Giphy account, you'll upload at least 10 GIFs for each account and then submit the application for a brand channel for each.
You’ll be able to see the views per gif if you click on your individual gif. It will have a number and an eye on the bottom right of the gif. You can see all views if you go to your profile and click the i in the top right.
I checked your Giphy channel and saw that you are also not yet verified. Have you tried applying for a verification? I hope you can also show us how it went for you once you’re verified. My artist channel is also not yet verified so I’m hoping to see how others get verified.
I was only approved for the GIPHY artist channel. I did contact them to see if I could become verified. This is what they sent back: "Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, your channel is not eligible for verification at this time. We do however love your GIFs and stickers & have made them available within the GIPHY search experience! Your content that is safe for all ages and compliant with GIPHY Community Guidelines, will absolutely be made available soon within the GIPHY API (powering GIF search in Instagram, Snapchat and beyond)." -- I contacted them to see if there were any specific steps I need to take to become verified but didn't hear back. If I ever do become verified I'll definitely share!
@@AronRenee "Due to demand, our verified artist directory is currently invitation only. Keep up the awesome work and we will keep an eye out." That's the e-mail I received back then. I haven't made Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr accounts for my brand when I applied. I only linked my Behance and personal Twitter when I opened my Giphy account. I wish I created my Giphy after creating Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr for my brand (I only created the accounts recently), I feel like it's easier to get verified with an Instagram account (based on my observation). I don't know why. But Behance is a better and more professional portfolio than Instagram, just saying. I'm still hoping to get the blue Giphy checkmark some day. I hope Giphy will verify older accounts as much as they verify newer ones (with their Instagram linked to their Giphy).
When I applied and went back to the page, it just showed that I had submitted the application and it didn't allow edits. I would contact support to see if they can help you support.giphy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Yes, you can use Behance for a portfolio. I'm sure an Instagram account could work too. Once you submit the application as long as you have your email on there correctly they'll message back to let you know if there is anything else they need from you. I haven't used those applications to make GIFs, but I would assume you can.
@@AronRenee i contacted them after the rejection but instead of giving me the reason I was told that there artist directory is limited and they can't accept my application ☹️☹️

I'm not quite sure how it will affect your application. You can try to submit it without and then they will let you know what they need from you if you are denied. I believe Behance is still free and DeviantArt so if you submit without a portfolio website and they contact you telling you that you need one you can add some pieces to one of their sites to make up a portfolio quickly.
They would need to create a brand account and they would upload the GIFs through their account. If you are creating your own GIFs you would choose Artist account.
No, you can create a regular Giphy account and upload they just won't be searchable unless you apply for an artist or brand channel. You can still share the links though.

Hi!! Lovely video. I am making some GIFS for two musicians, do you think that's going to affect my application? Thankkk youuu!
It will affect your application, if you add them to your personal artist account. You'll want to have each musician create a Giphy account, you'll upload at least 10 GIFs for each account and then submit the application for a brand channel for each.
Please do you know where I can see my views after I have uploaded a GIF? I don't know if it's because I am using an android phone to do that.

My gif are not showing up on ig story. How long does it take for them to show up? Its been two days since i got approved.
Make sure all of your GIFs have a G rating otherwise they won't be searchable.
Have they shown up or do you need additional help?
Have you tried adding @ before your Giphy username when making an IG story? If not try @username instead or just your username.
