I own monk chromatic. Great board overall, easy upwind, good in choppy conditions. Soft board. The downside is that it's not that good on jump landing, because that's where this softness is a drawback. I would really recommend this to beginners. Also, like the graphics, i don't know any other brand that makes such standing out ones for kiting.

Thanks for the great review ! I was wondering what differences you saw with the Monk Glitch ? Currently hesitating between the two…

      Thanks for the kind words,
To be honest - they are the same physical board chromatic and prismatic - with different graphics. How they feel in the range does change year on year as the other boards change around them..

How does the Monk X stack up against the Bronq Luigi in terms of performance?
    Also in weight?

the luigi is lighter, really feels it - more playful. Has more power handling when the power levels increase, and had remarkable efficiency - nothing before or after seems to cover upwind distance like the luigi.
The monk has more feedback - much more involving to ride, with less power. It's like a sports car. The Luigi like a big fast SUV, fast, zero drama, and minimal skill or interaction required in achieving significant performance.,

@@ktwo-surf cheers. Still seems a very difficult choice between the two. Is one a more all round board ie pop, weight, comfort, carving, chop handling. Very difficult question I’m sure. I only want one board so expect comprises. My last shinn board was a Dundee which I loved so that’s my reference point.

If your last board was the Dundee (and I know and admire this board), then the direct replacement is 100% for sure the Luigi, The Dundee was very soft and rounded, just like the luigi. The Monk is very different - has a lot more power at lower energy levels, is faster, more direct and much more hands on. The Luigi is just like the Dundee. Soft, easy, smooth and has the ability to do well in light winds, but take a ton of power when you need to. Some may say it's a bit soft and mushy, but it'll deal with ALL conditions very well indeed, and never tires your legs out. A pleasure to ride lit, in harsh chop, which the monk will not do..

@@ktwo-surf thanks for your useful insight into the two boards particularly the reference to the Dundee. Cheers

The Dundee feels very light and that really makes it feel loose. Does the monk feel light. I accept not as like as the bronq which I suspect feels ordinarily light. Just don’t want a heavy board!
Also, are the differences between the bronq luigi and bronq chromatic only graphics or is there structural changes? Thanks in advance.

have you ever swam on a nobile nhp board? if so, how does it compare to this one?

    • @ktwo-surf

Not for a longtime - the old nhp's I used were a long time ago when Mark used to shape for nobile - pre 2010
