I worked on 50/50 as a camera assistant during the Sally Gray era. I remember one point while we were waiting for the stage hands to set up one of the obstacle courses, we could hear a heaving sound followed by a loud sploosh. One of the kids in the audience had projectile vomited over the kid in front. Puke everywhere. It took ages to clean up, but what a laugh.
During lockdown someone was live streaming old kids shows online, old adverts included. I've had thoughts of doing it on Twitch, I'm sure there's a possibility of running into some copyright issues, but when you consider the fact that none of the channels are even showing these programmes on their streaming services, there's a gap there.
The problem with a classic children's channel is before the 2000s there would only be around 2 hours a day of children's programmes. In the early days of Cartoon Network when they were there to make use of the Hanna-Barbara back catalogue which Turner had purchased they had so many repeats and unfortunately this would happen too.
Bearing in mind i was born in 2010, I cannot explain how much i loved 5050, Raven, Balamory, MI High and the Tweenies. I remember coming home from my first ever day of school (primary school) and not even talking to my mum and dad about my day until i finished an episode of Balamory. I still watch an episode of these shows from time to time, they make me feel happy and at home, even though im 14 and in year ten. Loved the video!!
50/50 was a fantastic BBC Scotland programme. My favourite part was when a child was singled out for the general knowledge question. And if they detected anyone nearby trying to tell them the answer secretly, a siren would sound and Flynn would shout CONFERRING!!! 🤣🤣 I also once worked beside someone who was on it when she was at school 😃
Out of all the episodes of 50/50 you could have shown, it was the one I was on - Erskine vs Linlithgow S09E09! It was filmed at the old Queen Margaret studio in Glasgow in early 2005, I remember it being a very long day with the time to assemble the sets, but it was a really fun day. To spoil the illusion though, we knew we were going to be selected for games and it took a few goes to film out surprised faces
One gameshow that remember for a reason other than actively watching it was Sub-Zero, where it was boys vs girls for prizes and the losing team, along with the respective host, was jettisoned into space. And the only reason I remember it was because I would be waiting for a repeat of Robot Wars which was on afterwards. I hope some more episodes turn up one day.
I want them to bring back Bear Behaving Badly because it was a very funny and quirky TV Show as well as i watched it years ago and i’m pretty sure Barney was in it too who is such a legend to CBBC. I liked watching it.
Raven I desperately want to see back on our screens. It was my childhood show, and used to watch it every time I came in from school. But a proper new series would be incredible to see.
Raven did briefly come back, but as a more watered down version. There was a new raven, with James as ‘raven of old’. I think it lacked the aesthetic of the original. Some challenges you could clearly see that they were just in a field and nevar’s mask was more ‘cool’ than creepy.
Pat Sharp has been interviewed for a so many years of comeback but he has said no as it ran it's course. Also health and safety would be mental nowadays. Especially for that show.
@@Princessperlers There was a Kickstarter to do a "Crystal Maze" style experience many years ago but it didn't make its target. I'm not sure how it would have worked, and they said they wouldn't have any gunge, which just wouldn't be right, Fun House wouldn't be Fun House without it. I agree it was very much of its time, the game show was very very 90's in both style and execution.
Here's the British shows I think should get a new generation with a new reboot of episodes. This Is Your Life UK - a documentary series which involves a gala ceremony chronicling the life and tragedies, the successes and failures of some of the world's biggest and most loved celebrities, going through their biographies from their little red book. Unfortunately, the New Zealand version is the only incarnation of this iconic show that's still going to this day and the UK hasn't gotten any TIYL episodes since the one-off 2007 special on Simon Cowell hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald, former host of ITV1 News at 10pm (BONG) where Trevor broke into the Kodak Theater during the American Idol 6 2007 finale. SM:TV Live/CD:UK - The golden age of CITV sketch-comedy magazine programs on Saturday mornings hosted by Ant & Dec and Cat Deeley, the series is known famous for its iconic sketches and features like Wonkey Donkey, Challenge Ant and CHUMS. Every episode would be followed by ITV's CD:UK, a chart series that is so terrible at music research where the Saturday Chart rundowns don't even match the actual UK Singles Charts at all 95% at the time. CBBC also had the stupidity to make a ripoff of CITV's creation with The Saturday Show/Top of the Pops Saturday in September 2001. Since that Disney World episode of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway that aired on April 8, 2017, they have been trying endlessly to bring the show back for a new generation but due to Ant being forced to take a year off from his hosting duties after he got charged with a drunk driving car crash accident, unfortunately it never happened and the only thing to come close to it was a documentary special called The Story of SMTV Live that aired on Boxing Day, December 26th, 2020. Top of the Pops - BBC has been lying to us about this series getting cancelled since they killed off the weekly episodes back in July 2006. This was the great grandfather of all music charts series that has been running since the beginning of 1964. Unfortunately we haven't got much of this series since its original 2006 quote unquote "series finale" episode which it wasn't and the only things we've gotten out of this franchise recently were its sequel series on BBC2 and the annual Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve specials every December and January on the main BBC1 channel. Finders Keepers UK - A UK version of the Nickelodeon game show from the early '90s hosted by Neil Buchanan which I feel like he should have hosted the US version of Nickelodeon at Universal Studios Florida with John Harvey, the announcer of Double Dare. That series unfortunately hasn't seen the light of day since the mid-2000s following its short-lived 2006 reboot starring Jeff Frazier. Holly, Michael and Stephen's Ministry of Mayhem/Saturday Showdown - This series was cancelled too soon. It only lasted a year three-season run over the span of two years. They even lied to us by faking the 2006 episodes as a new series entirely which it's not. The franchise was last seen in 2007 when Don Austin and John Eckleston hosted the MOM game show spinoff series called Scratch and Sniff's Den of DOOM in early 2007. Jungle Run - This series was so ahead of its time but the set was so EXPENSIVE, we're talking a $1,000,000 pound dollars kids TV set. The series was made more successful when Michael Underwood took over as the host from season 5 in late 2003. I love the constant gag at Michael insulting the kids of how stupid they are at children's television game shows and the ones that failed the king's temple round at the end deserved to get locked and never come out until after the cameras stopped rolling because they don't know crap about critical thinking skills. This series should be revived for the USA on Nickelodeon with Gordon Ramsey as the host since he's no stranger to insulting contestants who are stupid at reality competition series and not paying attention. Stars in Their Eyes - this was THE celebrity impersonator game show of its generation. All those people going through those smokey doors of fireworks pyrotechnics dressed up and having their voices filtered to sound like the real celebrities. This series unfortunately hasn't seen the light of day since its dumpster fire 2015 ripoff season hosted by Harry Hill and Starstruck with Olly Murs released in 2022 has nothing to do with SITE at all.
I Remember Ace Lighting and watching it before I dropped out of it. But Raven was the goat, such a great show and I remember the main bad guy use to scare me back then. But yeah Raven i would like to see a reboot of Raven
Adam, the thing you seem to forget is - there just isn't an appetite amongst kids for these shows anymore. Even if they were brought back, the kids are watching RUclipsrs on their iPad - it's sad but that is the state of things, and the adults who look back fondly on these shows may tune in for an episode or two out of curiosity but hardly enough to sustain a full series run. You said you think Raven could be "as big as it was before" I mean good God man 😂
I recall that Ant and Dec are reviving Byker Grove, so that should be coming. I can see Copycats returning It was a game show where two families would compete in different games (mime time, quick on the draw and sound/music round), and whoever has the most points go on to the final game to win the grand prize. It was hosted by Sam and Mark, and it was so much fun. That could definitely work. They got the rights for Dragon Ball Super on Iplayer, they should air Dragon Ball Z Kai on there They could also try to get Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry on their channel. They're timeless As for the younger children, Tots TV could definitely work (they'd have to film on location for the going out episodes, and they could build a new house in a different location in order to film the staying in episodes). The Shiny Show could be another one to bring back. It made the young children think
The dumping ground is still going on!! Chelsie Padley (Louise from Tracy Beaker) does a series with Dani Harmer on RUclips and it’s definitely worth a watch.
There was a brief reboot of raven with a female raven, (Aisha Toussaint), who was one of the first winners from the origional. James Mackenzie appeared as as an elder and wise character in most of the episodes. This was in 2017-2018.
Mate, I can't take all this nostalgia. I want to go back for just a little while. The gameshows should definitely make a comeback. Ace Lightning was something that I loved too, for sure of the time. Too many more to mention.
Jungle Run, My Parents are Aliens, Bamzooki, Basil Brush, Tricky TV (with Stephen Mulhern), The Slammer and lots of classics should get rebooted in the near future.
Hay, I was browsing the TV the other day and CBBC now has something called Saturday Morning Mash Up and it sems to be presenter lead, unless of course this is already mentioned and I've not got to that point yet in the vid.
The way the BBC budget cuts are going they won’t be much new stuff soon plus all the government advertising restrictions mean commercial television is likely to further decline its kid and teen offering. Wonder will any of the semi premium subscriber kids channels go free to air soon in order to build viewer share and try to improve advertising revenue on the narrower base they can sell.
I agree. Probably a major reason why it hasn't happened before is because Karate is kind the buddle of Asian stereotypes. So they'd probably need to tone him down quite a bit. As for other ideas, perhaps Hugo A-Go-Go gets an intimidating foreign henchman to further the stereotypical mad scientist theme they were going with, and maybe use some baddies more than once.
not bbc but an itv children’s show: children’s ward need a reboot!! It’s exactly what they need. It’s a dramatic studio show that they can update with the times!!!
Great video I use to like a kids tv show calld hotel trouble and the game show trapped and I think jungle run should come back. I remember the American TV show that was on the Disney channel and cbbc and later citv called Even Stevens. I also liked the TV show zapp
I want Paul Chuckle to make an appearance on something like Blue Peter or CBeebies bedtime book. Not a comedy show, since it wouldn't work without Barry or his two older brothers (one of whom played the No Slacking guy). It'd just be nice to see the Chuckles get some plaudits for all the hard work they did.
Here are a few Ideas of CBBC shows that I think should get a reboot. 1 is Splatolot. 2 Scoop. 3 4 o clock club. 4. DNN. 5. Bear Behaving badly. 6. Millie Inbetween. 7 The denigers.8. Diddy TV. 9 CBBC Official Chart Show. 10 Art Ninja. 11 Danni's house/castle. 12. Shaun the sheep.
50/50, Get Your Own Back & Raven should all make a Revival to our screens With Raven I would want the revival to be like Series 1-10 where they had Lives & Rings & that the elimination of warriors should be via WAY OF THE WARRIOR or THE LAST STAND
Some classic series like The Animals of Farthing Wood, Skunk Fu, 50/50, Get your Own back, Tweenies, Dic and Dom in da bungalow do deserve reboots or even sequels.
Aquilla was a great show that would absolutely work today, even moreso after they cancelled it on a cliffhanger where they were going to claim the ancient battlecruiser.
There was one show that had Gunge in it, and it was on ITV’s Saturday Morning Block & CITV in 2007, which was called Scratch ‘n’ Sniff’s Den of Doom. Was hosted by the Hyneas from Ministry of Mayhem
There were a number of Saturday morning magazine shows that still used it throughout the 00's. But "peak gunge" on British TV was probably about 1997/98, so it was in decline throughout the 00's. Now it shows up occasionally when some millennial TV producer has another go at it, but it never sticks around (I'd say pun intended, but it's not generally sticky!).
Question for all you classic Kids TV fans: If Get Your Own Back returned, which games would you like to see return the most? My picks personally should be: Can You Kick It, Wall Ball, Tidy Up, Squeal on the Wheel, Royal Flush, Bounce Back, Brain Box, Bombs/Chocks Away, Feeding Frenzy / Feed The Bird and Motor Mania / Penalty Shoot Out. Those are just a few of my favourites.
My god would I love to see a comeback of trapped all the rooms were so unique looking coupled with the actors and music on the show made the show creepy and so interesting to watch honestly the greatest cbbc show
It didn’t take the Spin Off format - just a severely distorted version of the original format due to the BBC commissioning 15 episodes instead of the original 20
Oh my god @@letthechallengebegini am so sorry i got it wrong... especially INFRONT OF YOU... i am a big fan... and im ashamed to make wuch a blunder infront raven himself... from your own remake atleast, i assume
The problem with TV executives now is they aren't business people but they think they are. TV is literally run by the kind of people who would be contestants on The Appearance. They worked their way from the bottom and now they are winging it. A reason why children's programming is being defined is because as non business people they are only seeing one form of income i.e advertising income or TV licence income. However children's programming makes more money off screen in licencing for merchandise. Non business people don't understand that by buying formats makes more money than copying a programme just enough not to infringe on the intellectual property even if you were paying a ridiculously high fee to use the format. For TV to fix their issues they need business people, not TV people who think they are business people and making poor decisions.
I completely agree with Tweenies - although a comeback would be AMAZING, the BBC would just ruin it… they should just re-release the DVD’s and Albums, reair the episodes and make a few new ones with some potential live shows.
I miss the Saturday morning entertainment kids shows that used to be on BBC 1 and ITV like live and kicking what's up doc ministry of mayhem wacaday going live Smtv live would love any one of these to come back.
4:31 Gundge, including the name, is a wholly British invention. It dates back to, at least, Thames' Pauline's Quirkies and the Kenny Everett shows. Roger Price left Britain after the success of these and somehow wound up working for the CTV affiliate in Ottawa. When looking for something to fill some non-sports weekends Roger whipped out his gundge and created You Can't Do That on Television. The show never got to the national network, but became a sensation in the US during the early days of a content-starved kids channel Nickelodeon. Especially trivial triva: Early days Nickelodeon featured a logo featuring a reinterpretation of Chaplin's tramp peering into a kinetoscope. The reasons remain unclear, but communication through all methods the channel insisted their mascot was peering into a nickelodeon.
If done right, reboots can be just as good as the original. I wouldn't mind if Nickelodeon here in the US did a reboot of the game show Family Double Dare for CBS. As long as it stays faithful to the original with all the messy stunts, then it can be just as good as it was in 1992. But I do wish they'd have a channel for classic kids TV from the 80s and 90s, when I was growing up.
Trapped! gave me nightmares when I was little but I loved it! My mum once banned me from it cause I was too scared but I begged her to watch it. I would love to see a reboot!!
@@chaedodoklsrfm+ Imagine a reboot featuring young unfortunate teenagers instead of 7-12 year old children. It would be ashame if Simon Greenhall was replaced, but what could you do with a budget of 70-80 million pounds for new set dressing and a cast.
I was more a CITV kid on ITV ans loved the childrens programs . Sone could come back and CITV should of had a 40th anniversary week on tv but nothing was done last year for it which is so sad .

Shaun the series still going
Series 7 is out next year

ITVX Premium has classic children's programmes such as Button Moon, Count Duckula, Danger Mouse and Grange Hill. They just don't promote it.
Thank you for putting smart on the list as was one of them art kids shows that got me into art, it was also a confort show for me.
I agree with you mate i would bring mi high back
I would love Trapped! to come back
Classic Kids Tv 📺
WE ARE READY TO PLAY, MILO!
why did i read this in fizz's voice haha
50/50, Get Your Own Back & Raven should all make a Revival to our screens
With Raven I would want the revival to be like Series 1-10 where they had Lives & Rings & that the elimination of warriors should be via WAY OF THE WARRIOR or THE LAST STAND
Some classic series like The Animals of Farthing Wood, Skunk Fu, 50/50, Get your Own back, Tweenies, Dic and Dom in da bungalow do deserve reboots or even sequels.
Skunk Fu DAMN you unlocked a memory there 😂
@@AdamMartyn Total Drama Island was another great show
The Dumping Ground still existsI watch it with my young daughter
Why it's awful
I know one thing, kids need to reclaim Saturday mornings and get rid of the endless amounts of cooking shows which replaced them!
All the ITV Channels will get the gradients and better idents on Monday 14th October.
Banzuki did get a reboot already
Oh? When was this?
@@AdamMartyn 2009 this was their first attept of a reboot as I remember it. As I was still in late Priamry School when watching it
They where supposed to make a CGi movie of "Around the world with Willy Fog" but I don't think it's likely as the "Dogtanian" movie didn't do so well
Trapped needs to come back
I am definitely hoping that the Tweenies will have it's reboot series soon. 🧡💛💙💜
Me too should come back
Raven did have a reboot in 2017 but it flopped - It did have a cameo of James Mackenzie but It was more a woman raven called Aisha Toussaint
Didn't know they'd already tried to reboot it before!
Question for all you classic Kids TV fans:
If Get Your Own Back returned, which games would you like to see return the most?
My picks personally should be: Can You Kick It, Wall Ball, Tidy Up, Squeal on the Wheel, Royal Flush, Bounce Back, Brain Box, Bombs/Chocks Away, Feeding Frenzy / Feed The Bird and Motor Mania / Penalty Shoot Out. Those are just a few of my favourites.
would like to see raven, something with Sam & mark & i would like to see the slammer & trapped
Kerwhizz getting a reboot with a third season could be a deal
Maybe with a fourth team homarging Dick Dastardly and Muttley? I think it would be cool.
@@AdamCronchey yep!
just subscribed I would like to see raven to come back & something with Sam & mark & I would like to see the slammer
My god would I love to see a comeback of trapped all the rooms were so unique looking coupled with the actors and music on the show made the show creepy and so interesting to watch honestly the greatest cbbc show
Oh yes, the return of Trapped would be brilliant! Especially if they keep the Ever After theme, I really like it.
Bring back ‘Fun House’! After all…. It’s a whole lot of fun AND there’s prizes to be won! What’s not to love?
Raven had a reboot... it would not have another one
and sadly, it took the spin-off format
You never know... 👀🐦⬛

I completely agree with Tweenies - although a comeback would be AMAZING, the BBC would just ruin it… they should just re-release the DVD’s and Albums, reair the episodes and make a few new ones with some potential live shows.
would like to see raven, something with Sam & mark & i would like to see the slammer & trapped I've just subscribed
Yeah the dumping ground is still going
What about updated versions of Knightmare OR fun house?.
Woah, rad jacket! :D
Bring back knightmare
Terror Towers, Crazy Cottage
Smoggies , Ovide , Bangers and Mash, Pigeon Street, Spatz
If done right, reboots can be just as good as the original. I wouldn't mind if Nickelodeon here in the US did a reboot of the game show Family Double Dare for CBS. As long as it stays faithful to the original with all the messy stunts, then it can be just as good as it was in 1992.
But I do wish they'd have a channel for classic kids TV from the 80s and 90s, when I was growing up.
I don't know about you guys, but I would desperately like to see Trapped! & Jungle Run return. I'd also like you to make a video about Boogie Beebies
Trapped! gave me nightmares when I was little but I loved it!

I loved that show.

One that isn’t mentioned but I think was up there with Raven is TRAPPED!

Currently postponed! Not buying much of the NOW releases generally outside of Yearbooks and the main numbered line!
Did Labour just confirm plans to end tv licence?
