    What angle did you cut the 4- 2by4 runners?

    • @lifeafterbooze
      @lifeafterbooze  10 дней назад

      I believe they were cut at 30 degrees.

      Thank you so much, sir! I appreciate the video. Pretty straightforward and simple. And I’m glad you could have fun while you’re working, it’s never too late no matter how old you are. God bless you and be strong!

    Were the roof meets the house. Do you think it would be better to run the flashing behind the siding and then over the shingles rather than depending on caulk, for longevity? Thanks for the video! I've been wanting to do something similar to my entrance door. Something simple.

      Must not be able to see it on the video. The flashing is tucked up behind the siding. The silicone was just for added protection.

      @@lifeafterbooze if you don't mind me asking, what were the perimeter dimensions of the roof section you built? Just ballpark, doesn't have to be exact.

      @@danno87 roughly 5'x3', no more than 6'x4'

    What about adding a length of hard flashing? That sealer will not be watertight over time.

      There is metal flashing tucked into the siding where I am sealing with silicone. It is the black strip.

    How many 2x4s did you buy? Also is it the same screws through the entire video?

    • @lifeafterbooze
      @lifeafterbooze  7 дней назад

      Boy, I really can't remember how many 2x4's. Probably 6 or 7. I used regular exterior screws to fasten the wood together and lag screws to fasten ledger to the garage wall.

    Great job, those roof shingles arnt a thing here in the uk, we slap on the felt and call it done and it looks shit to be honest, 😮

    • @lifeafterbooze

      Thank you!! Wow, the felt here in the U.S. would only last maybe a year if not 6 months. The cedar shingles are very expensive, but that's what the customer wanted.
