I do kind of miss the angry Maynard, however definitely a fan of floaty Maynard too. The change of bass player, really changed the style of music for them.

What great timing…in the last 3weeks I think I’ve listened to Jerk-Off at least once a day. Known and loved it and Opiate ep for years, but one day something in the nuance of his anger that just hit different and I can’t stop listening. The whole ep is a masterpiece out of the gate!

I’d say my favorite riff from older tool is from crawl away in undertow album. Idk if you mean bass riff or guitar riff tho. New tool would be tempest from their newest album. Also you should watch their music videos just for the reactions you’ll have 😂.
Oh, there are some early angry tool videos on u-tube that were wild. Was scared MJK would explode. Some poor quality videos, but worth it. The 1992 philly club set by JC Dobbs and Tool archive was a good one.

I miss Aenima Maynard . Perfect blend of angry and screaming power, and melodic pulled back gentleness. Perfection. He really lost it after that album . Little bit of a bummer
