I have replayed the entire franchise recently (only the major titles and not the spin offs like QForce) and Going Commando will likely always be my most favorite R&C title; it laid so much groundwork for the later titles, that it's mind boggling: strafing, nanotech HP upgrade, gun upgrades (both through XP and vendor), arena matches, "open world" areas to collect stuff, etc. It also had by far the most gadgets of the PS2 era titles and I think even the PS3 era; the hoverbike racing and space combat was also fantastic. I hope that Rift Apart can be the next GC.
I played this game last month on my PS2. To tell you the truth, I'd rather play the original games on the PS2 instead of the versions on the HD Collection for PS3.
It's funny watching this after watching the developer commentary (Useless Podcast), the guy's wife was the one doing all of the tutorial voice acting haha. I used to beat this game on challenge mode maybe 30 times since it came out in 03 or so to 06, had nothing to do back then. My favorite in the series and you don't see them make games like this anymore.
Ratchet: You mean that thing is going to be a pet? 4:10:01 Clank: Megacorp intends to market a killer, that is simply unconscionable. Angela: Which is exactly what I was trying to tell you. Me: Woah, well why didn't she tell them before she kidnapped Clank, hired Thugs 4-less, and became Bogon galaxy's most wanted?
@@Mannyindahouse I think you just need to replace the disk reader nit the entire console But if you don't know how to replace it like myself maybe ask for help?
I noticed something about theese game on the ps2 that I didnt noticed while playing the hd version and it's how genious it managed the draw distance of the models, instead of just swaping models whr the player is close enough it transforms the low poly objecto to the high poly version as you aproach it, that is just very well thougth, I don't know any game that does this but probably there will be
Insomniac did the same thing previously with the Spyro trilogy. Quite an interesting technique, even more so on the ps1 which usually had terrible draw distances
@@johnnyedd2782 Kind of. PS1 Spyro turned texture enviroments into flat shaded polygons, and characters were swapped instantly. For Ratchet And Clank however, Imsomniac used Crash Team Racing and Jak And Daxter LOD technique, which slowly morph the enviroment geometry into more detailed meshes very seamless by subdivision of quads. Textures also have an extra level of detail when looking at them at point blank range. I thing it mixes teselation with mipmapping in a very efficient way with the enviroment all being handled by quadblocks, at least for what i understanded. The good thing about this technique is that the enviroments remains relatively detailed at the distance compared to Spyro. Although i would say Crash Team Racing and Jak implemented the technique much better than Ratchet did (obviously, since it was Naughty Dog technique after all).
Oh this is Fast...for me 100% took like 15 hours xD, then again I never did this in full so I was really looking around. But yeah, very nice...nice playthrough dude! 👍
I am playing the game again after a long time, I am maybe 1/3 of the way in and already I have over 7 hours played, so finishing the game in only about 7 hours is impressive to me
