Really informative video, thanks! Would be interesting to hear the guitar with some newer strings on as well! But looking forward to experimenting with my new Rode stereo bar- we needed something like this for ages, well done Rode!
That setup worked for me with the M5s. Just that the mics aren't the best so there are some limitations. Wow last comment 6 years ago. You guys look like a nice matched pair too ;)
Hey Alberto! With regards to phasing, the placement is very important. I'd recommend doing a sound check before recording to see which position gives you the best results and go from there 😊
+25877852 i know this is old but not necessarily ...depends on what type of sound your getting...if your fell like the a mic could record the high end better or with better detail should i say then i would do it ...i would just do 2 separate takes...the reason matches pairs are good because it allows you to fix problems fast with the mics being the exact same you know the response and what type of feedback you would get so you can reposition as needed versus using 2 different mics...one might be great where its at but now you have to reposition the second mice for its best fit and hoping to not run into any phase issues
Hi mate, I have a question that you would know. I am going to buy the rode NT5 pair. I have the babyface pro interface. What is the best way to record whether should I record all analog or should I need to use the plug of my acoustic guitar for best quality recording? Thanks in advise.
Hi! i also had this dilemma.. well for me the two mics works better sounds more organic for me somehow. i have a Seagull and it has pretty good sound out of the plug but in a way or another i always try to mix it at least like mic+plug or only the 2 Rode M5
Thanks! really enjoyed the thoughts behi d the setup, but to show the results please get a half-wax decent guitarist if in any way possible! :) keep up the good work!
If the m5 mics are an indication of the price range your after then i'd recommend you have a look at the ART MPA II two channel mic pre. its really great! loads of important features such as impedance control, mid side/stereo switches, and plate voltage control. its an affordable, ultra quiet, and great sounding tube mic pre.
You're not listening right. He speaks almost exclusively in his vocal fry. That means that he's completely engaged and ACTING bored so that he looks cool.

The old strings sound great on this, like a Nick Drake tone, lots of character.
read my mind
Great video, thank you! I used the same mics, spacing bar and pivot adapter and got a guitar sound I was happy with.
Beautiful playing!
I like that Stereo bar! I could use it with my NT55 matched pair.
Sounds so good. Helps me a lot. Great playing!
Thanks Michael!
H'm, not too shure
+Fwuzeem i see what u did there :D
Fantastic demo! Just ordered a pair of m5’s and the spacer stand thingy, so found it super useful. Great playing too! Thanks!
Just missed out getting this mic setup ... thx 4 keeping me inspired👍
Great...

It seems like the strings are old :D
Beautiful. How is the Guitar tuned? So good to hear something out of the musical box. Thanks.
I was looking everywhere for that stereo adapter/bar, and just read that it won't be released till 2014?
Damn
not to put it down, but new strings would give a better idea.
Hi, nice video ! What about phase ? There are no problem with this little distance between themselve ?
Thanks for the video

Verry cool.
Great, when will the stereo bar be available for purchase?
The Stereo Bar will be available in early 2014. Make sure to subscribe to our social channels & email newsletter to be one of the first to know.
Nice Canadian made Godin Seagull. Is its nut 1.8" ?
It’s hard to judge the mics off of such a specific style and song choice
Give that man some new strings....
nick drake
Why no XY position of the mics?
Is it possible to adjust the stereo bar to have the microphones on a vertical position?
Are Matched Pairs better than two different mics?

If you use two different mics, they'll sound different so you'll have to adjust your recorder/mixer or adjust it in post to make them sound the same.
not if you use mid side

I just ordered the M5.... i am verry curious...
How is the sound on nylon string guitar?
What tuning is it please ?
Thanks! really enjoyed the thoughts behi d the setup, but to show the results please get a half-wax decent guitarist if in any way possible! :) keep up the good work!
I didn't understand if i should hard pan it or not.
should you hard pan it in the mix.
What preamp would be good for m5 or nt5...

i think she could have used a fresh set of strings - the old strings makes the quality of the mics hard to tell. Thank you.
The strings are completely dead... :(
Wish you had spent some time on phase problems that might crop up using this rig. That's what I came here for.
+lasher500 using the Stereo Bar allows you to easily position the mics with the correct mic placement to minimise any phase issues.
No not in the video. Nor the response well for the most part.
should have used a better mic for the Sam the sound guy though
Dude seems bored.

u dont need to play guitar like that, just simply struming to review about the mic
convinced me not to buy those lmao
Decent sound from two Rode microphones, they have anyway bad customer service. I like better Shure SM 81
No chords? Not much of a demo.
next time use a better player
Next time don't recording aiming at the middle of the neck
Eh they were fine. Idc

can you just let us hear the recording results instead of beating around the bush?
