  • Hello Art Friends! I'm Anoosha Syed, a professional children's book illustrator and I painted every day for six weeks, which is insane for me! I was invited to have a solo gallery exhibition, and I foolishly said yes even though I am not a painter... but decided to learn!
    In this vlog, I take you through my process of painting several pieces, sharing my art supplies, and getting ready for my big show in California!

    Loved this video! So cool you got to meet up with Danielle, she's one of my favorite gouache artists and her work inspires me a lot. You did SO MUCH WORK for this show oh my gosh! It all looked so good, super fun to see how even professional artists can feel uncomfortable but push past it to grow :)

    Your monochromatic painting really stood out to me! It’s a bit different from the others, and maybe it’s just that I’m obsessed with sort of porcelain-inspired designs, but if I could I would totally buy that

    Such a lovely video. I did really like your early 3 girl paintings though. So good to see how you’ve learned your own way to use the paints and nice you’ve shared your experience of getting back to painting.

    Well done for getting everything completed! Trying to create using one medium you’re not comfortable with is difficult enough, so it must have been very hard going from digital to a variety of traditional mediums ❤

    • @AnooshaSyed
      @AnooshaSyed  Год назад

      Thank you!! I think the benefit of doing mixed media was that it allowed me to try a lot of materials to figure out what I liked and don’t like (realizing that I love collage so much I illustrated my next picture book with that medium!!), and also problem solve! Like I was frustrated that I couldn’t achieve precise detail library with gouache, but I can substitute it with using color pencil!

It is very impressive that you were able to continue to make SO MANY great pieces over a short time. I'd definitelt burn out haha. Also, your outfits and earrings are so cute! 💕

    This video is so so so inspiring! I loved the colours you used and the illustrations you made. You really knocked the ball outta the pool! Your process reminded me how I used to do some projects at school and how I could be applying what I learnt in my art. As someone who is just getting into illustration, you have given me hope! Thank you for sharing your experience. So do you prefer traditional or digital? And now youve tried both, in you opinion should a beginner illustrator start playing with traditional or digital medium?
    Also, had to add congratulations!!!

    • @AnooshaSyed
      @AnooshaSyed  Год назад +1

      Thank you!!!! I think I currently really love traditional media, and any faults that I have with it are because I'm still learning and comparing it to my digital art skills. I think my digital stuff still has a place, especially for projects with a shorter turn-around time but all the books I'm working on this year will be traditionally painted! In my opinion, if you have the tools available I would definitely start with traditional media! Especially if you want to recreate the 'traditional' look digitally it really helps understanding how the mediums work, and again knowing how to color mix helps. All the skills I've been learning for trad art has actually REALLY improved my digital art too!

    Ohh awesome video! 💖 The color palettes you used are sooo stunning! I really like the monochromatic painting you did experimenting only with ink! It's got some fun texture and variation within the same color which makes it so nice to look at ! 🥰 Did you have to tweak colors of your scans? I find that when scanning paintings with bright pigments (like the ones in oranges or pinks) the scanner dulls them out a lot, was that the case with the v600 or did the colors come out just as vibrant? curious to know!

    • @AnooshaSyed
      @AnooshaSyed  Год назад +1

      Thank you!! Yes I did have to tweak some of them! The epson program has an auto-correct function that really helps to brighten the piece and bring it closer to the actual painting, and then on top of that I did some minor adjustments :)

    I love this Anoosha! Congrats on challenging yourself and getting out of your comfort zone! I'm a digital artist as well and have had the same thoughts of wanting to try out gouache and traditional media for yeeeeears. I finally found the motivation I needed a few weeks ago and I'm now painting a little bit every week which has been fantastic. Keep up your lovely work, it's really great to be following your journey! Will you be tabling at Lightbox again this year?

    Jesus loves you and wants to be with you. Turn to him if you haven't or come back to him if you left. He can and wants to save you, deliver you, and set you free. Don't worry about how you are now, give up your sins, surrender to him fully, and change your ways. We don't have much time until Jesus comes back. It is past time to wake up and now is definitely not the time to play. Make your decision now! You are not being forced to do this, but for the sake of your soul and how you spend eternity, Jesus is the way to go! Remember Jesus loves you and I love you very much! God bless you! 💖
