@@olds86307 Not the outro, just before it. At the tail end of the Battle Mania intro, there's an SD version of Mania stomping on an SNES, which is a comical 4th wall-breaking jab at Nintendo.
I'm genuinely impressed at how cool Sega was about letting people screw with their logo. Most companies are obsessed with brand presentation and wouldn't ever allow this sort of thing. And in return, it turned into a thing that was really distinctive to the Mega Drive / Genesis.
Wow where to start. 1. Comix Zone's logo is quite well made. Especially the voice clarity 2. Bluesky Software developed some of the best games on the Genesis. 3. Before Pokemon there was...Pulseman! 4. Battle Mania 2....take that Nintendo!!
I always liked Zero Tolerance’s logo and intro. It’s a very quick but neat 3D spinning Sega logo, but the way the music kicks in the second you power on the Genesis really set the tone for the game.
That’s actually a fun game. I wish they rebuilt that game to be full screen with better draw distance. Playing the rom on my Ambernic is a bit too small. Even playing it on a bigger screen, it’s still too thin
You can also do a small bonus game where you try to collect falling S E G A letters by shooting the logo! It lets you skip levels depending on how many you can collect!
I think that dig on on the SNES in Battle Mania was because Vic Tokai allocated way more budget and manpower to SNES development, while this was the dev team's passion project they actually wanted to spend time on. So this was their way of venting some frustration.
I really do love how all these games could've just shown a plain, boring screen, but instead the developers decided that if they must show the Sega logo, they should at least have some fun and creativity with it. Also, was not expecting to get a laugh out of this video, but that last one was brilliant.
Vectorman was my personal favorite. Let's you control him, and there was a tv off screen that if you broke it and got the power up, you could break the sega screen and everything went Grey. Shame this video didn't show that.
I was going on thinking, “If they don’t have Battle Mania I swear.” I’m glad I was very satisfied on the final one. You can see this was the best for last.
It's easter eggs like this that keep the world of video games so damn interesting, despite having played them for 20 years! Stuff like this is what seperates old-school games from some of the boring, played-out tropes of today - innovation in stuff you wouldn't expect. Cheers for the upload, hope to see more of these little gems soon!
You missed on vector man, if you shot up at a specific angle you destroyed a tv, and you could collect a power to destroy the Sega logo. There was also a collectible mini game if you shoot the logo 24 times and headbutt jump it 12 times, then the more Sega icons you collect the higher the level you start on
I've always love vectorman the most, its the fact u can move and shoot like in the game and even break the sega sign with the TV in the top left of the screen
Seems like Bluesky really had a lot of fun making the intros. It's also kinda weird when I remember that Game Freak actually works with Sega every now and then, they don't exclusively partner with Nintendo.
Spot Goes to Hollywood had a very funny intro where Spot carves the Sega logo from a solid stone block and, after finishing the job, starts juggling the mallet until it falls down on his foot, as he starts screaming in pain 🤣
If anyone doesn't know: For Vectorman (5:01), you can blow up the logo. You can barely see the corner of the monitor just above where he jumps down. It contains an exploding orb.
4:54 this one was actually made by a guy named David Goodenough, he wanted to make fun of Sega with this little animation. « That was my response to Sega! A good kick in its logo » That guy also became a meme thanks to Joueur du Grenier, a french youtuber
In Vectorman sega intro. There's a tv outside the corner of the screen. If you get it, you'll get a bomb which blows up the sega lights and the sega waving background
There was more to Vectorman. There is a hidden power up in the top right corner. Shoot out the hidden TV and you can blow up the Sega logo and make if flicker like a blown light bulb
It's amazing how much freedom Sega left them with their logo/branding back then. EA, surprisingly, leaves a lot of freedom in that realm. --I went looking at recent Star Wars games to see if Luasarts/Lucasfilm still did it, and they don't, but EA did on those same Star Wars games.
4:59 Vectorman to the right of the logo off the top of the screen is a tv. Shoot it to get a power up. Turns you into a grenade and you can blow up the logo.
1. back then you could get away with a lot 2. It's only in the Japanese version afaik and it only appears if you hold start on controller 2 during the logo 3. nobody gave a f*ck upon seeing this (according to an interview with the developers) since SEGA wasn't exactly on friendly terms with Nintendo at that time
every time me and my bro played vectorman we'd run around shooting the the logo and go through this game of "am i going to quit moving long enough to leave the logo screen yet? NOPE HAHA KEEP GOING" until it stopped being funny and we'd actually start the game
What about Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles those 2 games also have the best intro (Sonic & Knuckles intro is Sick! Because of how The Death Egg impact just destroyed the SEGA logo)
Stay until the end of the video because there is a very funny surprise 😁👌
i did and nothing special was there
A Super Nintendo we can see.
That poor SNES...
@Spit Dragon legit, what is in the outro that i dont see

Ikr I was thinking the same thing
Sega: "Oh the logo? Do whatever you want with it, as long as it's somewhat readable during some point during the animation."
Totally agree 100 %
I feel the same thing with most movie studio logos that ends up being parodied. Take the Columbia Pictures logo from Zombieland.
Sega Does What Nintendont

Yep, Sega Genesis does what Nintendon't
Also, 69th like, lol nice!
I'm actually surprised that this video had no Puggsy intro /watch?v=qGfaPbPAK6E
Pokémon?!
Pulseman reminds me of Mega Man, but he is older.
I forgot how Sega Genesis games back then pretty much all had some creative logo intro. Good o' dayz😊
Thanks for the memories

Actually,in vectorman you can shoot a screen at the upper right, and when it explodes, the sega logo stops working.
Exellent video as allways.
I did not know this! I'm going to try it right now :)
Was actually about to ask about this, since I could've sworn it was possible. Thank you for confirming.
I believe there is a hidden tv screen on there you shoot and get some explosive to shut the logo off
You can also do a small bonus game where you try to collect falling S E G A letters by shooting the logo! It lets you skip levels depending on how many you can collect!
Yeah I left the same comment. Good on ya for remembering

As someone who grew up with Nintendo I admired the small details like these on Genesis games.
Always loved beginning of Ristar. The way nice and peaceful Sega melody flows into dark and ominous music from intro is perfect.
Come on
Ristar is a gem. A lot of thought and effort was put into every single detail of the game.
Vectorman was my personal favorite. Let's you control him, and there was a tv off screen that if you broke it and got the power up, you could break the sega screen and everything went Grey. Shame this video didn't show that.
If you notice, the TV is partial shown on, well, the the tv.
I thought the same thing, I remember doing that as a kid
I'm glad I scrolled through the comments before I typed out exactly what you said \m/,
I was going on thinking, “If they don’t have Battle Mania I swear.”
I’m glad I was very satisfied on the final one. You can see this was the best for last.
Stomping on the Super Famicom.
That would of blown my mind as a lad for some insignificant reason. 😆🤯
@@YaowBucketHEAD This is when the console battle turned into a bloody war.
Unforgettable memories
Reminds me of Capcom's "Q-Sound" intros in their arcade games. They're eerie but cool at the same time! Makes ya feel all tingly inside.
That little jingle still haunts my head.
@@thaneros ruclips.net/video/xsEN0wjo2dA/видео.html
You're welcome. ✌
The Genesis' Star Trek TNG game had a good one where the Sega logo beamed in with the Star Trek transporter effect.
Not seen many of the before surprisingly.

This brings back good memories :) Love how creative people went back in the day.
The Ooze always scared me as a kid with the heartbeats plus the title screen too had a lot of nightmares about it.
The earthworm Jim one is my favorite
Would have also included the Sonic 3D "SEGA!" scream, and the SEGA logo for "Sylvester & Tweety in Cagey Capers".
Absolutely outstanding video great to have you back my friend 😀 👍
The ones for Ristar, Ooze, Vectorman and Pulseman take me back
You missed on vector man, if you shot up at a specific angle you destroyed a tv, and you could collect a power to destroy the Sega logo. 1:15 That logo is probably the only good thing about this game.
Did not expect Bonkers to have so many variations
One of the reasons why the Sega Genesis is my favorite video game console is because there are so many great variants of the Sega logo.
Seems like Bluesky really had a lot of fun making the intros.
It's also kinda weird when I remember that Game Freak actually works with Sega every now and then, they don't exclusively partner with Nintendo.
Devs got really creative with this. Sega did what Nintendidn't.
Stopped making consoles?
@@bigduke5902 People like you could actually take some lessons when it comes to being "creative". Always the same.
One of the most underrated logo animations in history.
Spot Goes to Hollywood had a very funny intro where Spot carves the Sega logo from a solid stone block and, after finishing the job, starts juggling the mallet until it falls down on his foot, as he starts screaming in pain 🤣
Screaming in choir song and then screams like a monkey, it's hilarious!
SEGA was a marketing genius
The Mickey Mania one was very creative. I also love the Aladdin one.
Was such a great start up! Thanks for putting it together. Ultimate nostalgia for sega fans!
Aaaah the good old times.......
Sonic 3D Blast is missing!
Best parts of Sega Genesis, if only there is game developers out there that would somewhat do the same today!
I'd like to see more new, high quality games from Sega, utilizing it's rich collection of IP.
The Genesis/Mega Drive were such good systems.
I wish newer consoles would be as creative as the older generations.
If anyone doesn't know:
For Vectorman (5:01), you can blow up the logo. You can barely see the corner of the monitor just above where he jumps down. It contains an exploding orb.
All the ones from Eternal Champions and Jurassic Park had to be my favorites.
2:43 I was waiting for this one the whole time
Awesome.
Se-ga!
Sonic, Comix Zone, and Eternal Champions, my top 3 right there.
Nice.👍 Now do one with Capcom logos.
Sounds like a good idea!
Cool video, I like your creativity for new videos
Nice compilation!
Another omission is Shining Force 1 and 2 where the SEGA letters hop into frame one by one.
Mr PL4Ndemic loves Sega
I wish modern consoles had something like this.
4:54 this one was actually made by a guy named David Goodenough, he wanted to make fun of Sega with this little animation. « That was my response to Sega! A good kick in its logo »

I love sega genesis they all were creative too me
That Battle Mania 2 one is just savage. Lol
these intros remembers me the cartoon network studio animations, they should back with they
A lot of these characters don't seem to like Sega, they're punching, shooting, smashing, or even eating their logo.😆
Well, one might say that eating the logo does show a love for Sega. Just not exactly the kind of love one would want.
Boogerman has one cool too
Knew that Ecco one would be on here, it was too good.
Amazing!!! Ecco the Dolphin 😥
I remember pressing the reset buttons several times when playing Eternal Champions just to see what animation will come next
When they all in a row it starts to look like an eyecatch compilation.
Whoa, Battle Mania fired some serious shots at the SNES!
Sonic 3D blast and Boogerman have some great intros also.
You missed NBA JAM Tournament Edition. The animation is amazing!
Están padres los intros ,
Siempre me gustó el de Aladino
Cómo le da al cotorro
In Vectorman sega intro. There's a tv outside the corner of the screen. If you get it, you'll get a bomb which blows up the sega lights and the sega waving background
0:40 ok it took me 20 years to understand that the dino was saying "SEGA"
5:18 you forgot to shoot the monitor on the top right to make the logo go trippy.
The last one! 👏 jajajaj
7:48 hahahahahahaha that was amazing!
Sonic 3D blast belongs on this list for sure. Star Trek TNG too
The Jurassic Park one still creeps me out. Oh and speaking of said Park, the Rampage Edition seems to be missing along with Gunstar Heroes.
There was more to Vectorman. There is a hidden power up in the top right corner. Shoot out the hidden TV and you can blow up the Sega logo and make if flicker like a blown light bulb

batman and robin has a special extra detailed (and large) version of the logo as well
Sonic Spin Ball remains one of my favorite
Why does the Sonic sprite for Pro Striker 2 look so clean?
Some of this I can recognize just for the sound
for vecotrman i think there's an off-screen light you can shoot out and the background goes black
Battle mania was awesome hahaah
Some cool examples there.
3:00 makes me so incredibly nostalgic
4:59 Vectorman to the right of the logo off the top of the screen is a tv. Shoot it to get a power up. Turns you into a grenade and you can blow up the logo.
You could do a follow up to this video. Some good suggestions listed in the comments. Puggsy would be a good one to add.
There’s a few more good ones like Golden Axe, Shinobi 3 and many more
Reasons why I was a huge sega fan
Battle Mania. How did they get away with that?! lol
1. back then you could get away with a lot
2. It's only in the Japanese version afaik and it only appears if you hold start on controller 2 during the logo
3. nobody gave a f*ck upon seeing this (according to an interview with the developers) since SEGA wasn't exactly on friendly terms with Nintendo at that time
That guy running into the Sega logo made me laugh.
Sega brought character to a logo screen.
every time me and my bro played vectorman we'd run around shooting the the logo and go through this game of "am i going to quit moving long enough to leave the logo screen yet? NOPE HAHA KEEP GOING" until it stopped being funny and we'd actually start the game
Eternal champions was fun! "SIMPLETON!"
and no Sonic 3D Blast ?? you serious??
What about Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles those 2 games also have the best intro
(Sonic & Knuckles intro is Sick! Because of how The Death Egg impact just destroyed the SEGA logo)
The earthworm Jim 2 was on every consoles.
boogerman is also not bad, is nice😂
I don’t get what was special in Ooze intro. Just the standard sega logo.
Limitations breed creativity
Puggsy's Sega logo animation is way cooler than some on this video. Heck! Toejam & Earl's one is cooler than some presented on this video.
I still love the Sonic CD SEGA logo the best.
Vectorman you can take out the sega logo with the overkill power up on the right hand top
7:45 poor Super Nintendo, haha
