  • The Lyke Wake Walk is a 40 mile route across the North York Moors, which is to be completed in under 24 hours. In this video, me and my friend Mike tackle the second half of the walk.

Glad to have stumbled across these videos when researching the LLW. The production and editing on them is superb, bravo. All the best with future adventures!

A fantastic and honest video about the LWW. I first did it in 1997 (aged 16) and was completely unprepared. I did it in shorts, t-shirt and my late fathers walking boots (which were too small). We completed it within the 24 hrs but it was absolute hell and me and my mate were the last two to finish. (My mate also encountered the grassy bog but ended up bollock deep ;-). In a nutshell, our venture scout group leader ran off with the raised sponsorship money (meant for Cancer Research and in memory of my recently deceased father) meaning all the pain we suffered due to our ill preparedness was in vain. I am 40 this year and have promised myself, and my wife, that I will complete it once again…… this time, fully prepared. Thanks again guys, great video and well done!

I recall from my first crossing, i went into the bog upto my knees, when i got out the other side i was kicking the mud from my feet when a huge lump flew into the air and landed on the head of a big rugby player behind us. We got walking again quickly. At the end I was presented with a can of sunkist and a bag of chips (we did it in reverse Ravenscar to Osmotherly). With nothin on my feet I stumbled to the beck to soak my feet and eat probably the best chips i have ever had in my life. Very well done lads you the feeling of achievement which you will never forget.

I did the walk in 1985. I don't remember the hills (well, perhaps one) but mostly the mud. Thanks for the memories.

Great finish. I can still remember the climb out of Jugger Howe and that was 40 years ago. We also met our support team who had walked back to meet up with us. The moral boost of that was really needed. Thanks for the memories.

I've done the route about 30 times now, but it was good to watch your video. I relived the bit when it rained - it's a bit soul destroying, but you just have to power through it. Planning on another jaunt probably May 2021 after this Corona issue. Well done lads.

Did it in mid 70"s. My feet still hurt ! Went of track by accident and onto some military base when 20 or more commandos perfectly camouflaged in the heather popped up. Sneaky lads.

I did this walk in 1971. In many sections the path was almost undefined - now it looks more like a motorway in some sections! I do not recall a Lion Inn. I remember a pub in Ravenscar where we signed a book upon finishing. The walk is exhilarating - good luck to those who attempt/complete it.

Me and my friend just completed this at the weekend, we did it from Ravenscar to Osmotherley instead. We decided to camp out as well so we had to carry our tent/food etc so had 15 kg on our backs. It’s without doubt the toughest thing we ever done and those 6 hills at the end put us in an emotional wreck. Definitely would have preferred to it your way!
