This is the best DIY repair video ever. Clear, simple, no wasted time, excellent views and on top of that a bit humorous. THANK YOU
Many thanks!
The bushings need to be lubricated but I didn't see you do that. I also found out recently that the blades need to lubricated to make the unit last longer. The unit works pretty good though. Good job!
Thank You! This video was HUGE in helping me troubleshoot my Amazon Basics paper shredder. Turns out that the Amazon Basic shredder is made by Aurora and so Aurora was able to send me the right plastic gear for the same price as you said. Repair was very easy after getting the right part. The video was critical in the repair. Thank you!!
I didn't know the Amazon ones were made by Aurora...good info!
Thank you. Perfect timing and very helpful. No other video on this that i could find. It is nice to know you care about our landfills and not wasting. You helped a girl not add to the waste in our landfill.
My pleasure! Thank you for the comment and complement!
Useful , well thought out and well spoken video. Thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for the view and the comment!
Thanks you for your clear instructions, along with showing part numbers and all the steps to resolve the issue(s).
Thank you paladinjme
, I had the same problem with stripped teeth, thanks to your video it's now sorted. Thanks again.
Very clear instructions which enabled me to fix my shredder. Thank you so much.
You're welcome. Thanks for the view and the comment!
Very useful thanks, especially the isopropanol cleaning of the light sensor covers towards the end. My shredder was about to head for the bin.
Supremely helpful. I'm ordering some new gears tonight!
thank you Amazon has a printer almost I identical to yours following your instructions. I found the problem with feed jam. Someone before me had fed in paper with Wax on it and it melted together and blocked the paper feed. It is working great now Thanks again
Made gear replacement so easy! Thanks for the contact info for Aurora as well. 2020 -- both gears still $15.
Thanks for watching! Glad it helped.
Thanks for the video...Fixed my "auto" problem.
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching.
That sixth screw had me stumped, too. My shredder had the second issue and also a piece of plastic jammed in the teeth. Thanks for the great video.
You're welcome. Thanks for the view and the comment!
I have a Fellows shredder but it is much the same as the Auroa in your video. After spending 5 minutes trying to figure out how to remove the drive train, I ran across this video. I may have never figured it just lifts out and thrown the shredder away instead. My problem was just shredded paper clogging the plastic activation switch. Took longer to clear the clog than the entire disassembly/reassembly. Thanks
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching.
thanks for the video. I was looking to find where the switch is and you showed me thanks
Great. Couldn't find anything useful about the as1060sb online. I searched up the Aurora model itself and your video made me put two and two together - there is another hidden screw under the white sticker
@paladinjme mine runs fine in reverse and fine with one or two pieces of paper but gets stuck with anything more. It's supposed to manage up to 12 sheets. No weird noises, just won't feed anything more than 2 sheets. Any ideas?
Thanks for your help! had exact same problem and seems like its a common part ordered from Aurora. parts were $15, with tax to CA total $16.31.
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
I came here after finding it on eBay, I'm looking to buy this as my new shredder.
The start of the video nearly talked me out of it,
but since the company offer replacement parts, I'm covered for future problems :)
I just placed my order.
I should have stated that we've owned this unit for somewhere around 8 years and have shredded many thousands of pages with it. It has been an excellent shredder for the cost and I can definitely recommend it. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Ahh, Yes. The sixth screw..... covered by the sticker. After that it was a piece of cake; a sticky mailing label had clogged the innards. Excellent video . Thanx much
You're welcome. Thanks for the view and the comment!
Thank you! Different model, but your video saved me from permanently damaging my unit. Who would guess they’d hide a securing screw under a warranty sticker? Stupidity at its finest. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Which grease did you used ?
What kind of grease is not particularly critical since this is a relatively low speed, low stress application, but I think what I used was this (available @ most big box stores or Amazon):
lucasoil.com/products/grease/red-n-tacky-grease
paladinjme thank you very much!
Hi Thanks for putting the great Video together, I have the same gears issue, where can you get replacement gears for uk - any ideas
I own a wm_s5 with same issue but afraid to pull apart. Will it have the same features as the aurora and the same problem
Not familiar with that model, but the general functional principles are usually the same. If it's already broke, you can't hurt it by pulling it apart and you can very likely fix it!
Another guy said there was some kind of sensor. When I took mine apart, there is a little round thingy that came flying out connected by some kind of filiment. I have no idea where it came off from. Can you come over??? lol
I just got mine. Been shredding paper towels and toilet paper and it is not feeding smh I haven't had it but maybe a week
Hahaha! Perhaps you should consider switching to single ply!
@@paladinjme right! So frustrating. Back to the store it goes. Can't even shred tp!!
that big gear was designed to fail made from plastic they sell lots of gears that way
